Circular Posies with Pinkfresh Studios

Hi Again!  I’m back with more flowers.  I just can’t get enough.  Today’s pretty posies are from Pink Fresh Studio and are called Peony Fantasy.  Included in this suite are the Hot Foil Plate, Coordinating Die, and the coordinating stencil.  I think it’s a beautiful bundle of products.  I finished a card with this bundle a few weeks ago, but had a few leftovers perfect for a new design.

I’m playing along with Pink Fresh Studio’s Monthly Challenge for “Circles”.  This circle die perfectly frames the layers of flowers and vellum!

So, I hot foiled, stenciled and die cut a few extra blooms with a more orange tone, which pairs nicely with the peach blossoms.  The card base is created with a Simon Says Stamp Embossing Folder called Margot Tile.  After running it through my machine, I swiped gold Lunar paste over the impressions to really give it the feeling of a tin ceiling.

The sentiment is embossed in gold, and then some gold sequins accent the shimmery gold of the design.

Elephant Birthday Balloons with MFT

Dropping in today with an elephant that never forgets Birthdays!  This sweet little dude is almost ready for the party, except he just lost one balloon!  This set from MFT is called Adorable Elephants, and they really are.   I’m also playing along with MFT”s Weekly Sketch and Colour Challenge.

Colouring is done with Copics, and I’ve also used several stencils to ink blend the background sky and the Small Brick Wall walkway that grounds the image.  The patterned paper arch uses a retired MFT plaid that was perfect for the colours.

Thanks for joining me today!  Hope you have a happy Monday!

Red Dragon Flyby with MFT

Its the year of the Dragon in the Lunar New Year and it’s always fun to break out the rich reds, so today I’m playing along with the Lunar New Year Challenge on Instagram, and MFT’s weekly Sketch Challenge.

I found a not so scary dragon from MFT called Magical Dragons to colour up with warm Copics in reds and oranges.

The sketch is a really interesting one with an arched element and a radiating section, so I used embossing to create the radiating rays, which adds to the feeling of layers of different reds.   The detailed background uses a Pinkfresh Studios coverplate die.

A very fun dragon baby for the next Birthday!

Hogs and Kisses with MFT

Well since tomorrow is GroundHOG’s Day, I thought a punny piggy would be in order for a card today! I’m playing along with MFT’s Sketch Challenge this week, as well as Simon Say’s Stamp Monthly Challenge with Ink Blending. I pulled an adorable set from MFT called Piggy Pebbles illustrated by Stacey Yacula, stamped a number of images in the set and coloured them with Copics.

I took inspiration from the rainbow of colours in the umbrella for the ink blended background that mimics a grass to sky background with a little misty rain falling, and then lined up the images to match the sketch.  The clouds in the centre panel are created with the Cloudy Double Card Front Die from Concord & 9th.  It ties in perfectly!

It’s perfect for a Valentine card, or a kid's birthday, lots of cute “Hog" themed possibilities!

Really Rosy with MFT

Hello friends!  I’m popping in today with a pretty floral from My Favorite Things. This week I’m playing along with their Colour Challenge  (of light and medium pink, red and lime green) and Sketch Challenge, with this lovely image called Fresh Cut Flowers, that has since been retired.  It’s got some really nice big petals to get into!  I started with Copics and finished with pencils to give more definition and soften the transitions nicely.

The sketch called for a centre circle, which I cut out with an MFT Scalloped Edge Circle die.  Peeking through the background on the cardbase is ink blended base with some texture from an embossing plate.

The pretty sentiment is from MFT’s Everyday Scripted Greetings.  It’s a great scripty handwriting sentiment set.

Appreciate you dropping by!

Big Birthday from the Forest Floor and MFT

Delighted to bring you a real cutie for today’s card from My Favorite Things!  I’m playing along with their current Sketch Challenge.  And these precious images from Stacey Yacula at the MFT store, using both Tweet Friends and Sunshine Friends (both retired but OH so cute!).  I love the look of the “windows” popping through the sketch, so I went the direction of peeking into the forest floor with this design.

The images or coloured with Copics and then trimmed out, and I used some MFT dienamics to cut out the windows and paired it with the sweetest old patterned paper from SU! that matched the mushroom theme perfectly.  The rich warm colours are perfect for that earthy feel.  I’ve done som distressing of the paper and a few shite tel pen accents.

Some wood veneer stars accent this brown bear cutie, and its ready for a Birthday!

Indigo Blues with Pinkfresh Studios

Hello!  In a recent purchase from Pinkfresh Studios, they included a lovely freebie called Indigo Vines stamp set.  It’s a lovely combination of sketchy leaves and sentiments that was a really nice surprise.  When I saw it I knew it would be a great set to watercolor, and you can’t get any more simple than stamping the image in ink on watercolor paper, then using a brush with water to spread out the colour.

After watercolouring I trimmed out each leafy piece and created an arrangement I liked.  I found a great sketch from Freshly Made Sketches that made the design shine, with all the action up top and a clean bottom half of the card.  A little like a mullet (wink!).

For the bottom of the cream cardstock base I ran it through Pinkfresh Studio’s Intricate Stitched Ovals.  The sentiment is from Spellbinder’s Yana’s Sentiments foiled in gold.  It’s a lovely classy touch.  To tie in the gold foiling I did a little gold splatter for a lovely elegance!  Thanks for stopping by!

Wish Reverse Duo with MFT

Hello there!  Today I’ve got two adorable designs that use a reverse technique from each other and loads of colour!  It all started with this cute die from MFT called Wish.  I used the die on two pieces of cardstock, white and textured turquoise and then pulled out the Fundamental Florals Dies, and die cut a bunch of flowers in orange, hot pink and leaves from the Complementary Greenery die.

I arranged the flowers on the cardstock with some ink blending along the bottom to give it a bit of depth and contrast and then added a few sequins to give it some sparkle.  When its popped up over white cardstock the letters have great dimension and I love the vibrant colours!

On the white cardstock, I did the same cutting, but instead added the flowers underneath the die cut layer so the flowers are peeking through from the embossed card base.  That crisp white with the flowers looks so great!

I added a bit of white framing to give that white on white some pop and the sentiment is from MFT’s Everything Wonderful stamp set.

Here’s the comparison between the cards:

A great reverse colour duo for Birthdays!

Serene Stitches with MFT

Last month I was so delighted to win an MFT Sketch Challenge and spent my gift code on the new stitching kit from MFT called Everything Wonderful. This kit has some really great elements, and I also chose to pick up the extras to fill out the kit because it included some fantastic sentiment sets in beautiful script like this one Everything Wonderful.   The kit included 3 skeins of embroidery thread, so I let that pick my palette for the card.  I’m always a fan of soft blue-green.  So I die cut the elments from heavy cardstock, and added some greenery in vellum and cardstock too.

After stitching, I arranged the flowers on a cardbase that has a frame from MFT’s Stitched Rectangle Scallop Edge, and soft ink blending with Aged Patina Distress Oxide ink.  This is this week’s MFT Sketch Challenge as well.

It really has a dreamy serene look, and the extra stitching really adds so much texture and softness!

Pure Poppies Pop!

Popping in with Poppies!  These beauties are from My Favorite Stamps called Pure Poppies. The clean lines are so lovely, and fun to colour with my Copic Markers. I trimmed them out carefully with my scissors, and then it was easy to follow along with this week’s MFT Sketch Challenge .

I ink blended the background layer and then ran it through Concord & 9th's Triangle Background die.  I think that play on squares and triangles in the layout is a good one. I splattered some water on the background to add some interest to that Distress Oxide background.

Just a touch of enamel dots and the sentiment from MFT called Essential Sentiments.  A great collection of sentiments in one big set!

Penguin Party with MFT

Hello!  I did some colouring the past week and had some fun with MFT’s Sketch Challenge for this design.  Always good to have more Birthday cards on hand!  This stamp set is called Sending Sweet Celebration Wishes from MFT.  These adorable party animals are illustrated by Stacey Yacula, and I love her sweet style.

The images are coloured with Copic Markers, and trimmed out fussy cut style.  Paired with some perfect patterned paper and the fun sketch, it came together pretty quick!

Lots of colourful pennant banners from this set tie in nicely to our cute little penguin, and work well with the diagonal of the sketch.

Inside the card I added the charming little turtle from the set delivering a cupcake on his shell.  Altogether adorable!  Perfect for the next child’s birthday ahead!

Thanks for joining me today!

Stretching Your Seasonal Stamps

Delighted to pop in today with some sweet breaths of Spring!  Were quite a few weeks away from Spring here, despite what the calendar and the groundhog says, but I can always create it on paper.  Earlier this Winter when MFT was having a 50% off sale, I picked up these Seasonal Wreath and dies from them (now I believe they’re retired), because they’re so cute in their petite size, but I also knew they’d be great for wreaths that are NOT just for Christmas!  All it takes is a bit of a switch in colour palette, and elements to give it a touch of Spring that’s lovely.

Just by adding in some peach tones in the berries in the set, and then popping in some die cut flowers from MFT’s Fundamentla Florals Die-namics and you have a perfectly Easter/Spring wreath to show off.  I’ve added a few enamel dots, and sponged the background onto green cardstock with MFT’s Basket Weave Stencil, and splattered some Distress Ink onto the background to tie the colours together a bit.

The pretty sentiment is from MFT’s cute sentiment set called Crafty Friends.  Always fun to use the Spring colours too, even when I still see white outside!

Hippo Birthday!

Birthday cards are such fun to create!  Our nephew celebrated 12 years this weekend and I didn’t like the cards I had to choose from, so I pulled out some images I had previously coloured up, and looked up MFT’s latest Sketch Challenge which worked to pull this design together.

I’m using MFT’s Picture Perfect Party Animals Stamp set. These guys look like they’re having a great time, and their energy matches our nephew’s goofiness.

I’ve added some stencilling and embossing to the red layer to go with the round balloons in the images, and then popped up some balloon dies, adding strings to them with a multi-liner pen, and white highlights, with a few enamel dots to coordinate.

The inside coordinates with the outside using a scrap of the embossed paper.

Perfectly Pink Birthday Party Girl

Awe... how fun is it to celebrate a child’s Birthday?!  This weekend friends in our small group celebrated their little four-year old daughter.  We just love her, she is sweetness personified, smart, kind and notices the little things.  So, I wanted to create a card that was very girly and childlike to go with the books we bought for her.  I found this week's MFT 628 Sketch would work perfectly for what I had in mind.

I pulled out MFT’s set Sending Sweet Celebration Wishes for the adorable characters I knew she’d love.  They are all coloured with Copics, then trimmed out.  I created a sponged background with Distress Oxide ink in Kitsch Flamingo, Picked Raspberry and Seedless Preserves, stamping the confetti for extra party fun.

Everything is easily arranged and paired with some pink plaid paper in the background.  Some white gel pen addes a few accents where needed.

I added that sponged background feel to the inside of the card (and the envelope) with the sentiments from the set to tie it together.

And all these storybook cuties are ready to party!  She noticed the bunny right away and she’s just the kind of little girls to treasure it.  Its so fun to create cards for people like that!

Mini Mouse Blessings

Hopping in with a very cute sketch from My Favorite Things today and some pretty adorable mice from the set Harvest Mouse.  Another in the collection of images I’ve had coloured up for a long time.  These little cuties are coloured on Kraft cardstock with Prismacolor Pencils, and it makes for a fuzzy cozy look for them, which is perfect for their fur.

To create the openings I used two stitched dies one a square, and one a rectangle I extended for 2 cuts to create the longer windows.  It’s a great sketch for creating little scenes.  I marked the openings onto the Olive cardstock with pencil so I knew where to put the background stamping.  Then I popped the top layer up with foam tape.

Just a tiny wood veneer star as an accent and they’re sending blessings!
