Oh Happy Day with RAM Stamps

Hello!  How about a cuteness overload?  I’ve got this adorable little Balloon Girl from RAM Stamps today, and she’s just darling!  She has the cutest little dress, which is where the inspiration came from to create the feeling of eyelet for the background.

I took strips of cardstock in white, Tidepool and Juniper (from Concord & 9th), and pulled out some of my older Spellbinders Dies to create eyelet sections, then I ink blended in varying layers to give the feeling of ombre and distressed colour.

She’s coloured up with Copics, and I gave her a cute little scalloped frame.

The die cut sentiment is from Concord & 9th, and I inked a few wood veneer stars with white ink to accent.  I think she’s really sweet!

Rose Gold Magnolias

Have you noticed how popular the colour rose gold has become?  I hadn’t noticed it until our niece began wanting everything in rose gold, her room is decorated with this colour, she loves her clothes in this colour, her phone, jewelry, and I began to see it everywhere too!  She’s going to be turning 14 next month and I am actually ahead of the game with this Birthday card for her in many layers of rose gold.

I picked up the beautiful Magnolia Pattern Cling Stamp from Pink Fresh Studio this month as well as the Coordinating Stencils .  I was just so taken with the beautiful pattern and how the products can work separately or together as a background or main image.

So, for this design I stamped the cling stamp with my WOW Embossing Pad, and added Rose Gold embossing powder (from Simon Says Stamp), then sponged Distress Oxide ink with the stencils in Victorian Velvet and Tattered Rose.  It has such a classy look!

I also stamped a single magnolia bloom from the background sponged it and trimmed it out as accent.  Then I added this pretty sentiment from The Greetery Arched Sentiments, also embossed in Rose Gold on vellum.  It’s perfect to allow you to see the flowers behind yet add a focal point.   I picked up some fabulous sparkly rose gold paper from Michaels that was the perfect touch of bling for layering!

Lastly, I added rose gold sequins from Studio Katia as that final pretty touch.  I know the first words out of her mouth will be “ooo, pretty!  Rose Gold!”

Perfectly Pink Birthday Party Girl

Awe... how fun is it to celebrate a child’s Birthday?!  This weekend friends in our small group celebrated their little four-year old daughter.  We just love her, she is sweetness personified, smart, kind and notices the little things.  So, I wanted to create a card that was very girly and childlike to go with the books we bought for her.  I found this week's MFT 628 Sketch would work perfectly for what I had in mind.

I pulled out MFT’s set Sending Sweet Celebration Wishes for the adorable characters I knew she’d love.  They are all coloured with Copics, then trimmed out.  I created a sponged background with Distress Oxide ink in Kitsch Flamingo, Picked Raspberry and Seedless Preserves, stamping the confetti for extra party fun.

Everything is easily arranged and paired with some pink plaid paper in the background.  Some white gel pen addes a few accents where needed.

I added that sponged background feel to the inside of the card (and the envelope) with the sentiments from the set to tie it together.

And all these storybook cuties are ready to party!  She noticed the bunny right away and she’s just the kind of little girls to treasure it.  Its so fun to create cards for people like that!

The Cat’s Pajamas Kicks off 2023!

That calendar page has turned over and we are blessed to enjoy another shiny New Year ahead of us!  I’m kicking it off with a brand new release from The Cat’s Pajamas!  This month it’s all about the Birthday’s with a little nod to Valentine’s coming up too!

I have three designs to show you today FULL of colour!  I’m starting with this adorable girly bunny called Girl with Cake.   She’s coloured up with Copic markers in a very girly palette and placed on some pretty layers of vellum and a stencilled background.

With a colourful background I’ve just added a touch of sparkle with sequins.

Next up is a festive Birthday design!

There must be a lot of Birthdays in January for the bunnies because this guy has all the presents lined up!  This one is called One Present, and I’ve matched the colours to the fun patterned paper in the background, as well as added some retired TCP dies to make it feel like the party is ready to start!

He’s got a popped up party hat die that I coloured with Copics to match, and a die cut candle accents the design.

Finally, what’s a party without cake?  For this design with You Say It’s Your Birthday I printed the image large enough to be centre stage on the card.  I’ve coloured the cupcake with Copics and then trimmed it out to place on a background of sponged Distress Ink.

I added some white gel pen accents, some framing with dies and accented with some retired TCP dies and sequins.

I know I’m always running out of Birthday cards, so I hope this inspired you to pop on over to The Cat’s Pajamas for some new products to spark your creativity this year!

Baby Miracles

Jumping in for some Friday fun with Power Poppy today, and a card that’s all sweetness for a brand new and beautiful baby girl we love!  I’ve used the uber-sweet set, Precious Baby for the design, coloured up with Copics.  Isn’t that little pea-pod baby girl adorable?

Precious friends of ours (former kids in our youth ministry) have longed to be parents for many years.  I think it was about 7 years ago that I started praying for them to have a baby.  They were told about 3 years ago that they had a less than a 1% chance of getting pregnant, you can imaging how very painful it was for them.  But, that was not the last word!  When they told us last December they were expecting a miracle baby in August we were so overjoyed! Just 4 weeks ago, this little miracle girl was born.  The day I first held her was so meaningful, and I wept with joy.  Saying we are grateful to God for her little life seems to not even cover it.  We got to celebrate her last weekend with a baby shower, so this was her card.

And this is the little sweet pea in person.  She is just beautiful!

I found some pretty peachy tones of paper and ribbon to pair with the image, added some sewing, a scalloped frame and some sweet banners.

Here’s the sentiment inside.   Thanks for sharing our joy!

Cupcakes under Glass

Hello friends!  Today I’m popping in with a cute little girly birthday card I made for one of my nieces.  I pulled out the very pretty set from Power Poppy, Under Glass and used the pretty cupcake and cups in this one.

I paired it with some pretty patterned paper that I had in my stash, and some sparkly textured paper.  I used one of Becky Fleck’s sketches from this last quarter, when the Power Poppy team helped her with samples.  I didn’t love it as much as the first card I made with this sketch, but, I think it looks like a party on a card, so it’s perfect for a little niece.

For fun and sparkle I added some irridescent rhinestones to the sparkler candles and they take on the tone of the colouring.  The larger green swirl is a die from The Cat’s Pajamas.

Alright friends,   I’m going to take a little hiatus from blogging in the next week or so.  We’re celebrating a whole bunch of things as a family including our daughter’s graduation from University!  She’ll now be “Miss Okken, elementary school teacher”.  We’re really proud of her, and this next week is all about family celebration.

I’ll be back with our NEW release from Power Poppy soon!  I’m beside myself with excitement to show them off to you!  You know I’ve worked for Marcy in some capacity for about 10 years now, and I think this is one of the BEST releases she’s ever done.  You will be blown away!

Be sure to pop by and see what sweet Katie Sims and the Power Poppy Blog have to show off today too!

Ginger Baby

One of my former HS students from youth ministry,  now wife of one of our co-workers is having a baby any time in the next few weeks, and we celebrated last weekend with a baby shower.  It’s always so delightful to celebrate babies.  They know they’re having a girl, so it was easy to personalize this card for them.  I’m thinking that with the combination of their two genes they might have a little ginger haired girl, so I pulled out this sweet little digi image from Mo Manning, aptly called Baby Shower, making her a bit of a ginger-haired blondie.  I thought it would work perfectly for her.

All coloured up with Copics.  Oh just look how cute her chubby little baby belly is!  Of course I had to add designer paper ruffles along the top to match her ruffly diaper cover.

A little bit of striped grossgrain ribbon, and some pretty cupped flower sequins finish it off, with the addition of a sentiment from an older PaperTrey Ink set.

Here’s the Copic I used below.

A Pink Bundle of Joy

Happy Monday people!  It’s all sweetness today, as I’m popping in with a cute little baby design for you.  I put My Favourite Things Adorable Elephants set to work with some Copic colouring and this sweet designer paper (Echo Park - Bundle of Joy).  It matches the elephant theme perfectly.  I popped up the balloon with a foam dot to give it a bit of extra dimension, and paired it with a cute sketch.

A few buttons and some twine finish it all off and it’s ready for a new baby girl!

Hope your day is a bundle of joy too!
