Mush-room for Gratitude with The Greetery

Mushroom Gratitude Greeting Card

Hello and Happy Tuesday evening!  I don’t know where you are but we are getting a few extra days of Summery weather this Autumn and it’s a delight to enjoy.  However, my creative hands are much more interested in all the Fall colours and textures.  Today I have a card created with The Greetery’s Botanicuts Toadstool Garden dies.   I began by cutting out the toadstools in a variety of warm colours along with some grass with a retired die from The Cat’s Pajamas.

After assembling the toadstools, I added some Copic marker accets to increase the dimension on the fungi, and placed it all on a Lemongrass background which I ran through The Greetery’s Pierced Plaid Pierce Plate.  My goodness, does that ever give you beautiful texture!  I created an “interior frame” with a stencil and white ink, and also incorporated a cross-stitch frame with The Greetery’s Hoopla Oval Die, outlining some of the woodgrain details in the frame with a Copic marker.

The sentiment is from The Greetery’s Thankful Heart Stamp and Stencil set.  And just to balance the design I added in a wood veneer butterfly which I added some colour to with ink, Copics and a white gel pen.  It’s definitely feeling Fall!

Thanks for joining me today!

Ginkgo Love with The Greetery

In this life I have been so very blessed to have a husband who is such a good Dad.  All the things a kid hopes for in a Father are things my beloved exemplifies, and I thank the Lord for Him!  This was my card for him for Father’s Day, it incorporates the very beautiful Ginkgo Botanicuts from The Greetery, which I picked up on their recent sale.  Did you know ginkgo symbolizes resilience, healing and longevity?  Perfect for a card for him!

I love that these leaves can be masculine in theme.  I started with Eucalyptus cardstock from Concord & 9th and ink blended both Eucalyptus and Rainforest ink onto the leaves to given them some depth and bring out the detail veins in the die.  Then I splattered them wiht Rainforest ink and white acrylic paint.

Next,  I placed them onto a card base cut from Pebble cardstock which I had ink blended deeper mushroom ink onto.  Its a great earthy look.  Some leaves are glued down some are popped up slightly for a great sense of dimension and texture.

The foiled sentiment is from Spellbinders, Must-Have Sentiments Glimmer, and it’s foiled in a gunmetal silver shade.  To keep it very simple since there is some much going on with the leaves, I added a few coordinating enamel dots.

New Folklore Flora from Power Poppy!

Hello out there Power Poppy fans!  I’m delighted to bring you some brand new inspiration from Marcella for the season.  It’s called Folklore Flora, and there are four unique botanical images in the collection with many variations of each, as well as inner and outer sentiments, AND for the first time ever, Marcy is releasing full colour painted images of the designs that you can just print as notecards if you’re in a pinch and don’t want to colour!  It’s like getting many stamp sets together in this collection.

It’s been almost six months since I’ve done any creating, sometime I may share some of the things that have happened in our life that have kept me from creating, but for now, we’ll just stick to the beautiful designs.  I have TWO cards to show off today.

I started with the elegant fig image which includes this inspirational quote about the abundance of a life that matters.

This arrangement of figs on the vine is such an elegant one!  I coloured it all up with Copics, with the addition of Prismacolour pencils to finish up the details, and add the earthy background.

I also resized and added fig images into the background layer to create my own designer paper to match perfectly to the image.  To accent the image I added in a couple of die cut leaves that match the fig leaves well.

Some highlighing accents some of the key words in the sentiment.  And below you can see the Copics and Prismacolour pencils I used to colour the image.

Keeping with the abundant harvest theme, for my second card I used the gourd image from the set.
Again, I coloured up the image using Copics and Prismacolour pencils.  Though it takes a little more time, it enables you to get lots of detail in your images.

It’s like they’re ready to pick in the garden!  The sentiment is such a lovely one too.

I bordered the top of the image with a patterned paper strip and layered a swirly die that mimics the vines in the image and adds a bit of subtle texture without being bulky.

Here’s a peek at the copics I used, and I used a warm gray, orange and green prismacolour pencil to add in some of the details.

Be sure to pop on over to the Power Poppy blog to see all that Marcy created for this release.  Then for more inspiration stop by and see Julie and Barbara C for their beautiful inspiration with this set.

Thanks so much for sticking coming back to see what creative things I’ve been up to!

Power Poppy’s New Healing Bouquet

We’ve got another WOW set at Power Poppy to show you today called Healing Bouquet.  It’s a creative mix of citrus (lemon or lime), lotus flower, eucalyptus, elderberry, and lavender.

I chose some pretty delicate tones and decided to go with a lime for this arrangement.  I love lime.  All the colouring is with Copics and I kept the other details of the design quite simple so the focus would be on the beauty of the floral and fruit spray.

The sentiment is from the lovely Power Poppy set, Simply Camellias.  Touches of lace and polka-dotted paper give it an elegant feminine touch.

For more WOW with this set, please pop on by to see what the rest of the Bloom Brigade has in store for you.

Power Poppy’s New Aloe and Oranges

We are so excited to begin the introductions to the NEW Release from Power Poppy with a collection called Fresh Squeezed Scents!  Today we’re beginning with the beautifully unique set Aloe and Oranges!  Isn’t it just dreamy!?  Marcy illustrated such a beauty here!  When she first showed it to us she designed it to run in a vertical fashion, but as I played with it I found it also worked perfectly in this horizontal direction as well.  I printed the image onto Copic XPress it paper in a light grey so it’s about halfway between no-line colouring and a typical printed image.  That’s the transparency of line I like to work with best, and one of the great things about digital images, you can adjust them!

I’ve given it lots of deep rich colouring with Copic Markers and then added detailing in with Prismacolour Pencils.  To give the orange realism and texture I’ve coloured it with a blend of pointillism, and added juicy highlights to the cut orange.  I love the colour contrast between the blue greens of the aloe and the vibrant oranges of the fruit.  Can’t you just smell the citrus fragrance now?

I’ve added a sentiment stamped with Power Poppy’s Tea in the Garden Stamp Set, and surrounded it with a scalloped edge die and a deep purple layer to really highlight the background and make the images pop.

Truly a stunning image don’t you think?

There’s lots more inspiration with the new Bloom Brigade in store....just click on these links to be amazed, and I’ll see you tomorrow with more inspiration!

Aloe You Very Much

Waving hello friends!  Remember me?  It’s been more than 7 weeks since I’ve said hello, and wow, 13 weeks since I’ve created something.  I appreciate those of you who are still here with me after all this time.  The longest blogging break I’ve taken in the 12 years I’ve been doing this.  I’m happy that some of my creative spirit is being restored.

Our family is mending.  My husband is gaining in strength all the time and Doctors are pleased with his progress, believing it’s likely he’s in remission from Hairy Cell Leukemia;  though he’s still being treated for the fungal pneumonia for another 6 months, he’s improving there as well.  Thank you to all of you have thought of us and prayed for us when we’ve come to mind in everything that happened last year.  We are feeling very grateful.

Today, I’m kicking off the return with a fun little design from The Cat’s Pajamas for their most recent challenge to showcase Stencils.

I pulled out this adorable little set from TCP called Stuck on You which combines the oh-so sweet stamp set and coordinating dies, and then paired that with this beautiful new Stencil called Succulent to create this dreamy background.  You can see I borrowed my son’s new echiverea succulent for this photoshoot, he’s named it Suzanne.  I tell him he should call it “baby Yoda”.

For the background effect I began by using the stencil on watercolor paper and blended Linen Distress Ink with the Big Beautiful Blending Brush.  Then I pulled out my Daniel Smith watercolors and petal by petal coloured in the different succulents in blues and greens.  It is such a fun effect,  as the watercolor picks up a bit of the neutral distress ink and you see some of the granulating between the colours.

The cutie patootie potted succulents are also watercolored and I’ve mixed a couple of embossing powders to get the varigated effect for the sentiment flag.

Hopefully that made you smile today!

You have just 10 days left to join us in the challenge to be in the entry for a $10 TCP Gift Code!  Link up HERE!
