Have Yourselfie A Happy Birthday

Hello All!  I’m popping back in with a card I made for my brother’s Birthday this week.  We celebrated with him last night in an outdoor family get-together.  These are times when we all miss my Mom, because she was such a good “celebrator”.  But, we are also grateful to be able to still celebrate.

So I made him this bright and bold card with the adorable newer set BB Picture Perfect Party Animals from MFT Stamps.  These polaroid style selfie pics are really cute, and I played along with MFT’s Color Challenge this month.  It helps jump-start my creativity when I’ve not created much to play along in some challenges.

We’ve got a fun gorilla and lion party-ing it up with some celebration banners (County Fair Dies from The Cat’s Pajamas) and then some sequins to give it some party sparkle.  The background paper is MFT’s Party Patterns.

Colouring is all done with Copics (Gorilla - E71, E74, E77, E79, W2, W5, W7, R14, R17, R29, Y13, Y17, Y38) and Lion (Y32, Y35, E97, E99 and R14, R17, R29, Y13, Y17, Y38).

See you later this week with an ALL NEW and amazing Power Poppy Release!

We Can Weather Any Storm

Have you been having a stormy week?  Could you use a word of encouragement?  How about a little bit of cheer in the form on these cute ducklings reminding you (and me) that we’re not alone.  I’ve used MFT’s sweet little set, Rain or Shine, showcasing the little ducklings, a puddle, and the clouds and sunshine peeking through.  All the elements were coloured up with Copics and then trimmed out, popping them up in different layers.

I’m playing along with MFT’s Sketch Challenge this week utilizing the Stitched Mini Scalloped Rectangles to frame up the section of Watercolor Wash Paper, that helps with that “just rained” feel.

I think they are just adorable dancing in the puddle. And it reminds me that any storm does not have the last word, and I can find joy and hope in the midst of it.  Hoping you’re encouraged with that too!

A Pink Bundle of Joy

Happy Monday people!  It’s all sweetness today, as I’m popping in with a cute little baby design for you.  I put My Favourite Things Adorable Elephants set to work with some Copic colouring and this sweet designer paper (Echo Park - Bundle of Joy).  It matches the elephant theme perfectly.  I popped up the balloon with a foam dot to give it a bit of extra dimension, and paired it with a cute sketch.

A few buttons and some twine finish it all off and it’s ready for a new baby girl!

Hope your day is a bundle of joy too!

A LOT Older!

A while ago I printed up this fun digi stamp from Birdie Brown, way back when Torico had her own digi shop and finally took a few minutes to give this cute goofy cat some colour.  He’s such a fun party guy.  I’m thinking I will probably use this for my brother’s birthday next month as he love cats, and the sentiment from The Cat’s Pajamas, Forget about the Cake, works perfectly to tease him a little.   You have to do that to your brothers.  It’s sort of an unwritten rule don’t you think?

I added a little transluscent colour in the balloons as they peek through each other, and lots of other vibrant but masculine colour to match this older stack of paper from MME Reunion.  He’s just so happy he’s almost crying!  :)

Just a few buttons to have a few spots to let you eye dance around the card.

Playing again in The Daily Marker’s 30 Day Colouring Challenge just for fun!

Little Red Beret

Hello, I’m back again!

October is my birthday month and to treat myself I thought it would be fun to jump in with The Daily Marker’s - 30 Day Coloring Challenge whenever I can.  It’s all about spending 10 minutes a day (minimum) of colouring just for fun!  You can make your designs into cards, or just colour for the sake of colouring.  So, that’s what I’m going to try to do.  Sometimes you’ll see cards, sometimes I think it will just be showing off images that will hopefully later make it into cards.

Today I put a card together with a little bear I coloured up last night.   It’s an adorable old image from Birdie Brown.  I love this little guy in his red beret and the fun stripedy shirt.  It has almost a French feel to it, so I kept some of those basic themes in the design.  The sentiment is from a PTI set I had that would fit in the little circle I wanted to use.

My sister-in-law asked for a few kids Birthday designs, and I this would be a cute one.

The shimmer I added to the balloon highlights doesn’t look really great in this picture, much better in real life :)  It’s supposed to be a subtle effect but photographed so differently.

Here’s the Copics I used.   See you soon with some more colouring!

Wish

Here’s another round of “found” images I coloured up 2 years ago.  This one is also a Birdie Brown image. I was so taken with the cute face on the candle!    It makes a cute and simple Birthday card.  Really simple card completion too.  It’s all in the paper and banners.  I thought this paper really gave the illusion of the candle flame too right?

Just a wee bit of sewing and some faceted gems are all it took!

Thanks for joining me again today!  I’ll be back tomorrow with something new from Power Poppy!

Apple Season

Hey there people!  Guess what?  I was cleaning some “stuff” (read:mess) and discovered some stamped sheets I had taken along with us on our American Adventure two years ago.  I took all kinds of images and my copics so I’d have something to colour on our 6 week trip.  Well, ha!  I forgot I had them!  So, I’ll probably put them into cards in the next weeks - even though they are two years old :).

This cute one was a digi Birdie Brown image from Torico.  Now that she’s illustrating for MFT, she isn’t doing these digis anymore, but I grabbed them way back when.  She’s such a great illustrator!

I trimmed out the bear and popped him up on the lacy circle (isn’t he cute?).  Otherwise it’s pretty simple details.

When I look out my window my apple tree looks just like this right now.  I need to get out and pick them really soon or they’ll be falling off the tree.

The sentiment is from MFT’s Birdie Brown set Sweet Birthday Wishes.  I thought I would work perfectly for the sweet apple theme.

Have a sweet day!

When Pigs Fly

How about something just for fun?  I had this idea pop into my head when I was thinking about this cute set from MFT - The Whole Herd, so I thought I’d try to put it to paper for their Card Superstar Contest going on.  It’s cute and punny all put together :)  I stamped my flying pigs onto XPress It Blending cardstock in lots of “flying” positions and then added the curved sentiment with MFT’s Banner Day Alphabet.  I love how they look so surprised to be up in the air, like ‘whoa, I wasn’t expecting that!’

All framed out with Stitched Dies and some pretty polka-dot paper.

I kept the design really clean and simple with a simple banner, button and twine to accent.

Here’s the Copics I used.

See ya back here tomorrow for something lovely!

Fairy Small Wonder & A Giveaway!

A few weeks back I was delighted to find out I won some gorgeous digis from Birdie Brown.  Oh they are SO cute!  Here's what I did with this one...

Isn't she precious?  It's called Fairy 1.  I love her sweet expression and the little lotus flower she's perched in peeking at that pretty butterfly.  I coloured her up with Copic Markers, used a pretty Spellbinders shape to cut out (Decorative Labels 22), and then paired her with these pretty Carta Bella papers called True Friends.  AND, I thought I'd jump in with this month's SFYTT at Reverse Confetti!

The sentiment is from an old SU Sale A Bration set I believe.  I thought it was perfect for the tiny fairy and then could be a little girl's baby card, or a little girl card.  All sweetness and light :)

Now how about a Giveaway?

This month's CardMaker Magazine has a little item in it from ME on page 65 :)

It's a really great edition, with lots of wonderful summer papercrafting ideas.  CardMaker always sends me a couple of copies of the magazine when I'm published.  So, I'd love to share one of those copies....would you like to win?

Just leave a comment here with your email address included (it just helps me contact you if you've won :)  Deadline is Saturday by 11 AM MTN time.

Party Cat

That son of ours, the one I showed you yesterday in the swing turns 14 this week.  Sheesh!  He's very proud that in the last month he's become taller than me and tells me so at least a couple of times a day.  He is a gem, and we're pretty close.  I think we're wired somewhat similarly in certain ways so we have some good talks and he's very loving.  I am very proud to be his mom.

So here's his Party Cat :) what's funny is that he and I are both very allergic to cats.  So I think he'll get the humour in this.  Its a very fun image from Birdie Brown that I won recently.  So cute right?  Torico is amazing as an illustrator and designer.   I coloured this goofy cat and presents up with Copics and then carefully trimmed out the image and popped it up on some fun Stationary Noted paper from Teresa Collins.  My guy's favourite colour is red, so I threw a lot of that in there.

The one thing I did for fun was cut out 14 on my Silhouette machine and used the negative of the cut to create a windowed design with a little red cardstock behind.  I think he'll like it :)

Copics:  R08, R24, R27, R29, B91, B93, B95, C00, C1, C2, C3, C5

Thanks for dropping by!

Oh Snap

One of my favourite illustrators for fun and whimsical images is Torico.  She's got great style and lines and oodles of talent.  She illustrates for There She Goes, but she also has her own line of digi images at Birdie Brown, and each month she has freebies too!  I'm getting this one in under the wire for her April Challenge with her April Freebie images - which is also why you'll see 2 posts from me today, one now and one in the morning!   I had time because our youngest was home with an ear infection, so it was a lazy day.  Hope you don't get sick of me {wink!}, and the little guy is doing much better now too.

How could I resist a camera image right?!!  So cute!  Sorry - the picture angle is a bit hinky - I was trying to talk to my mom on the phone while taking pictures.  It didn't really work!  I'll have a few more pics to show you.  I printed off a couple of the camera and bird images so that I'd have a few pieces I could cut out and pop up for dimension, like the camera lens, bird and flowers.  I love those extra touches.

Coloring with Copics to match the MME paper - I think it's called The Station - a pack that was at Michael's.  Really rich neutrals, blacks and reds.   The sketch is deconstructingjens #99.

Here you can see the dimension a bit better.  So cute!

Copics:  R14, R83, R85, R89, W1, W3, W5, W7, 100 (Black), E50, E53, E35, E31, YG93, YG95, YG99
