Spring Frames and Windows with MFT

We’ve just returned home from a bit of vacation with family and I brought back a brutal cold with me, so I’ve been laying pretty low the last bit.  One of things I like to do if I’m travelling to the States for work or fun is to ship any stampy shopping I might do to where I’m going to be (even hotels will let you do that).  That way I save on crazy postage prices and paying duty.  So I brought home all kinds of fun new creative things to play with, but haven’t had much energy for it!  But I did make a couple of sweet Clean and Simple designs to show you today using a new set from MFT called, Sunshine Friends, illustrated by Stacey Yacula.  I love her whimsical style.

I just started by colouring all the images in the set, and then decided that there was enough to put together to cards.  This first design also showcases the arched window using MFT’s Stitched Arch Stacked Dienamics, cut into a background using Pink Fresh’s Intricate Stitched Ovals Coverplate Die.  Gorgeous isn’t it?  That subtle pattern is so classy!

I’ve created a scene in the window with a sponged sky and grass, adding a few grass blades with a Prismacolor Pencil.  The Copic coloured bees and tree tuck in nicely, and a simple gingham bow gives the black pop it needs to coordinate with the bees.  Perfect for anyone you call honey :)

Next is a happy pair of friends!

Also created with MFT’s Sunshine Friends these two really do make me smile.  I decided to keep the background plate layer as it is and add the images on top, but it needed something extra to help the design, so I pulled out the MFT Stitched Rectangle Scallop Edge Frame in yellow and that pop of colour was what the card needed, the frame anchors the space perfectly.

Windows and frames are just the ticket to make your focal points sing!

Mini Mouse Blessings

Hopping in with a very cute sketch from My Favorite Things today and some pretty adorable mice from the set Harvest Mouse.  Another in the collection of images I’ve had coloured up for a long time.  These little cuties are coloured on Kraft cardstock with Prismacolor Pencils, and it makes for a fuzzy cozy look for them, which is perfect for their fur.

To create the openings I used two stitched dies one a square, and one a rectangle I extended for 2 cuts to create the longer windows.  It’s a great sketch for creating little scenes.  I marked the openings onto the Olive cardstock with pencil so I knew where to put the background stamping.  Then I popped the top layer up with foam tape.

Just a tiny wood veneer star as an accent and they’re sending blessings!

The Best is Yeti to Come

Hello!  Do you ever go through a colouring phase and then set the images aside?  I realized as I was looking through my supplies that I have close to 70 images I’ve coloured but have never made into cards.  This year I’m going to try and use all of those images up!  So I’m calling it the Colouring Catch-Up Challenge!  No specific guidelines except to create cards with what I’ve already coloured.  I’ll sprinkle these designs here and there this year to try and jumpstart some creativity.  Colouring is my favourite part, but it’s nice to have completed cards to give away or sell.

Today I’ve got MFT’s precious set Beast Friends. It’s great for winter or Christmas designs with several of these fun Yetis and other accessories.  I’m also playing along with MFT’s Sketch 575.

Colouring is done with Copics, and I added the snowhills layered on a warm grey sponged snowflake background to coordinate with the colour on the Yeti.

I love the sentiment because it feels hopeful, and also those very cute paw prints.

Thanks for popping in!

MFT Cake Party for a Tween!

Today I’m bringing you a sweet celebration card that I created for my niece’s 12th Birthday.  She loves to cook and bake, and we actually got a cake decorating themed gift for her as a present, so it was fun to pair the gift with this stamp set from MFT called Pawty Time.  These cute critters and that gigantic decorated Birthday Cake were a sweet match.

All the images are coloured up with Copics and I loosely interpreted MFT’s Sketch for the design.  I added an extra row of banners from another Stacey Yacula set from MFT called Sweet Celebration, to mimic the sketch.

The fun paper adds to the feeling of celebration.

Here are the Copics I used below.

Thanks for stopping in friends!

Have Yourselfie A Happy Birthday

Hello All!  I’m popping back in with a card I made for my brother’s Birthday this week.  We celebrated with him last night in an outdoor family get-together.  These are times when we all miss my Mom, because she was such a good “celebrator”.  But, we are also grateful to be able to still celebrate.

So I made him this bright and bold card with the adorable newer set BB Picture Perfect Party Animals from MFT Stamps.  These polaroid style selfie pics are really cute, and I played along with MFT’s Color Challenge this month.  It helps jump-start my creativity when I’ve not created much to play along in some challenges.

We’ve got a fun gorilla and lion party-ing it up with some celebration banners (County Fair Dies from The Cat’s Pajamas) and then some sequins to give it some party sparkle.  The background paper is MFT’s Party Patterns.

Colouring is all done with Copics (Gorilla - E71, E74, E77, E79, W2, W5, W7, R14, R17, R29, Y13, Y17, Y38) and Lion (Y32, Y35, E97, E99 and R14, R17, R29, Y13, Y17, Y38).

See you later this week with an ALL NEW and amazing Power Poppy Release!

Carried Away by Balloons

Hello everyone.  How are you managing these days?   Just popping in with a cheerful design that makes me think Spring! (even though we’ve still got snow here in Alberta).  I used the MFT Sketch from a couple of weeks ago and created this cute little bear getting carried away by a great big heart balloon.  It uses the stamp from MFT called Joyful Heart Bears, which I think is retired from MFT now, but you can buy it elsewhere.

I’ve used The Great Outdoors Stencil from The Cat’s Pajamas to created the grass and clouds in the sky using Distress Ink.  Then to match the bright yellow balloon I added the polka-dot sentiment flag and accent at the top.   I’ve given my cute bear some strong flick strokes of my Copic Markers to make him appear really furry.

I used MFT’s Wonky Stitched Circle STAX dies for the rounded part of the card.  If he manages to avoid the bees, I think he might go for a little flight!

Enjoy the rest of your day friends!

Hogs and Kisses

Back with a very cute little design from the illustration of Stacey Yacula at My Favorite Things!  This cutie is called Piggy Pebbles.  I’m using MFT’s Wednesday Sketch from last week.  I haven’t had a chance to play along for a long time.  We’ve had so much rain here this summer that I thought I’d play with the little umbrella piggy first.  He’s coloured up with Copics and trimmed out, along with a couple of cute puffy clouds.  I thought it was a fun colour combo based in the pretty designer paper.

This also makes use of the set Scene Builder from MFT for the little hill.  Oh he’s got such a cute little smile!  You can see I’ve added some of the umbrella shadow on his forehead for some realism.  Below are the Copics I used.

Thanks for stopping by!  See you later this week.

A Dragon Flyby

Having some fun today with the adorable set, MFT Magical Dragons.  I purchased it with my niece in mind, and yet it’s fun for a lot of different people and occasions.  This cute dragon and baby are flying off for a Birthday adventure.  I’ve coloured them with Copics and trimmed them out.  I created the background sky with Distress Oxide Inks (Broken China and Cracked Pistachio).

The clouds are from The Cat’s Pajamas using the Cloud Border CutUps Die.  I cut the die it two sections to match the MFT Sketch Challenge this week.

The glittery pattern on the outside of the oval is with a Tim Holtz Stencil and Nuvo Glitter paste.

I few iridescent holeless sequins (from The Cat’s Pajamas) finish it off.  Another cute Birthday design to add to the stash!

Sending Bear Hugs

Back with a sweet little design today showcasing a Copic Marker/Prismacolor Pencil coloured design with Stacey Yacula’s Joyful Heart Bears.  I love this sweet set and this week’s MFT Sketch Challenge was a great one to pair with this image.

First he’s coloured up with Copics and then I came in and added the details with Prismacolor pencils to give him that fluffy bear hair.  The hearts are die cut with various peachy coloured designer papers.

Underneath the main images I added some pretty Glittery Nuvo Paste through a heart stencil.

I just want to squishy hug him!

Thanks for stopping by!  I’ll be back tomorrow with the TCP Blog Hop!

Happy Dance

Friends of ours have a darling little boy we love who is 2 years old.  He is as snuggly as any kid I’ve ever seen and one of his favourite toys is a little stuffed fox they call “Clooney" (think the voice in Fantastic Mr. Fox).  As soon as I saw this sweet little set from MFT called Fox and Friend, I couldn’t resist it!  I knew the first card I would make with it was for our little buddy.  He also has this sweet little happy dance he does whenever he sees our family (especially our kids), so this was the perfect sentiment, which I embossed.

I’m playing along with MFTs Sketch Challenge 423 with these cute windows in the design using a stitched circle die.

Little Clooney is watercoloured with Zig Clean Colour Brush Markers and I’ve added some cute details with the wood veneer hearts.

Pure sweetness!  I just love this type of illustration!  Thanks for popping by today!

A Green Raincoat

Hello Friends!  Happy (belated) Canada Day to all of my fellow Canadians.  151 young years for my beloved nation!

We’ve had the most lovely warm spring and early summer.  We’ve enjoyed all the sunshine very much, but this next week is forecast to be a bit cooler with rain, which actually would be good for all the plants.  It’s put me in the mood for this charming set from MFT called Rain or Shine.  I love this sweet little girl ready to splash in the puddles.  It was really fun to give my human rainbow colouring some practise with Copics.  I thought a bright green raincoat would really be cheerful to pair with her since it’s one of my favourite colours.   It’s all assembled onto some Soft Sky paper and patterned paper in soft blue-greens.  I think it allows that bright green to pop.

I added that little duckling doing a bit of a dance with her, the sentiment from the set onto some bright green and a bit of washi tape underneath as accent.  Adorable isn’t it?

Here are the Copics I used:  Skin & Hair:  E11, E13, E15, E17, E25, E27, E29, R21  Duck, Boots, Umbrella:  Y13, Y15, Y17  Raincoat:  YG11, YG07, YG09, YG17 Leggings:  BG46, BG49, BV00  Puddle: BG11, BG45

Happy Monday, and go splash in some puddles if you have them - or make your own!!
