Cross-Stitched Roses with The Greetery

 

Hi There!  Today I’m playing with some pretty products from The Greetery.  The stencil is called Rose Tapestry which I’ve ink-blended in coral and bright green shades.  Next I paired it with the Aida Cloth Texture Plate, it really gives you the sense of cross-stitch fabric.  

Funny enough, I didn’t feel like my Big Shot gave the paper enough texture, so I lined up the texture plate again, sure that I had it perfectly set, and it “hopped” the cutting a bit - but ironically I don’t mind it.  Somehow the tiny double dots are really sweet!  

For the sentiment and little embroidery hoop I used the Hoopla Mini Dies, the Hoopla Mini Inserts and Mum’s the Word stamps and dies.  With a little iridescent cording and enamel dots, it’s ready for a Birthday!

Periwinkle Blossoms with Concord & 9th

 Hello!  I felt like colouring something really special this week, so I pulled out an older set from Concord & 9th called Blended Petals.  I chose not to use the stencil, and instead pulled out my Copics and some coloured pencils to bring it to life.  

I chose to go monochrome, even adding in blues to the greenery.  Then I created tone on tone texture and colour in the embossing folder, dies, and accents, including a little strip of glittery periwinkle paper.  

Love how it turned out!  I’m eagerly anticipating flowers this Summer...maybe not periwinkle coloured...but beautiful regardless!

Periwinkle Blossoms with Concord & 9th

Favourite Tulips with Honey Bee Stamps

 

Hi there!  Of all the flowers out there, I think tulips are my all time favourite.  I love their colour, shape, and how they usher in Spring with vibrance.  I decided to pick up the Lovely Layers:  Tulips Honey Cuts from Honey Bee Stamps because the dies are so realistic and give you 3 options of size of bloom to play with, and cut multiples layers of the flowers for wonderful realism.  

Coral coloured tulips are some of the ones I most gravitate to, so I used a few shade of coral cardstock to cut the layers, then ink blended on the layers to give added depth.  While also adding in a few textural details by adding coloured pencil in the die lines.  I also added in some bluebells from the Lovely Layers:  Wildflowers Honey Cuts, because they make a great contrast in colour to the coral tulips, and their petite size adds extra interest.

The background is ink blended with Blueprint Sketch Distress Ink, with water splatters, and I cut a small section of white lattice for the bottom section of the card for texture.  

The sentiment is foiled and is a Spellbinders Let’s Celebrate Sentiments Better Press set.

Favourite Tulips with Honey Bee Stamps

Meraki Melody Release is Here!

Hello!  I’m delighted to be bringing you a beautiful card design from the Meraki Melody Release!  Today I’m showing off the Meadow Muse Suite of products, including the Meadow Muse Presstacular Plate, and the Meadow Muse Stamp Set.  It’s the prettiest combination of petals and leaves!  The perfect size for colouring too!  

For this design I used the Press Plate to foil the image onto Copic XPress It Blending paper, then added colour with my Copic markers.  I foiled a second layer onto the pretty purple cardstock.  Next I used the new Timeless Frames die (cut 3 x) to frame up the “windowed layer”, outlining it with a gold pen, to coordinate with the gold foiling.  The whole image is framed again in gold shiny cardstock with the largest of the Timeless Frames die.  It’s really lovely because it adds dotted texture to the scallops as well.  

The lovely sentiment is from the stamp set, and its embossed ingold to coordinate.  A few gold enamel dots accent the sentiment.

Meraki Melody Release is Here!

Creamy Magnolias with Crafty Meraki

 

Hello!  I’m back today with another lovely design using the Meraki Harmony Release from Crafty Meraki!  Today the designers are joining together with another hop to celebrate!  Be sure to pop on over to this post Instagram to enter to win!  

Today I have a rich design using the new Whimsical Magnolias Stamp, and Whimsical Magnolias Coordinating Meraki Para-Dies.  I created a design that opens on the 3/4 mark to allow the beautiful Magnolias to spill over the edge.  

I stamped the flowers in a soft ink to let the cream of the petals show through, then placed them over a background created of weaving different strips from the Crafty Meraki Strip Suite - ZigZag Zoom Die Set with straight strips for texture.  I've also foiled a pretty butterfly on vellum from the Flutter Glow Presstacular Plate.  Colouring the back of the vellum with Copics.  

The sentiment is also from the sent and embossed in gold to coordinate with the pretty old sparkly paper on the 3/4 edge.

Floral Cake with Honey Bee Stamps

 

Hi there!  I’m back for day 2 of Birthday Cards this week, with another beautiful cake, this time from Honey Bee Stamps.  Its called Wonderful Wishes, and I’ve used both the stencil for the set, as well as the coordinating Honey Cut dies.  I adore the concept of a completly floral cake!  

The stencil produces just beautiful results!  I’ve stenciled and die cut a few extra elements from the set to pop up, and I’ve spritzed it all with glitter spray, so it sparkles.  And isn’t the green glass cake stand pretty?  

To coordinate, I’ve also added an ink blended and embossed background (Spellbinders) with coordinating colours.  

The HUGS sentiment seemed perfect (from the set), and a few sparkly sequins add to the shine and shimmer.

Birthday Party and Cake with Power Poppy

 

Hello!  I have a few birthday designs to finish out this week, and today I’m starting with a sweet combo card using the prettiest cake on a stand from Power Poppy called Layer Cake Digital Stamp Set.  It’s perfectly decorated, and displayed!  Coloured up with Copics, in a sweet colour palette.  

Next, I paired the image with the confetti dies and stencil from The Greetery called Celebration Streamers Stamp and Stencil, and the Curly Q Streamers Die for the background Party on the paper.   

The sentiment is from the polymer version of this set, with a few enamel dots that coordinate with the candy on the cake.

Birthday Party and Cake with Power Poppy

The Red Plane with RAM Stamps

 

I have distinct and nostalgic memories of being a little girl, laying on the grass in my backyard, or even at the school playground and looking at the sky and clouds.  Often I’d hear the buzz of a airplane, and see a red prop plane fly over.  For some reason, its a lasting childhood memory that makes me feel sweetly safe.  I’ve come to learn that it is a surveying plane, taking daily runs over our city to monitor the oil pipelines making sure everything is running properly.  

So its with a sweet nod to that childhood memory that I took this adorable little image from Rachelle Anne Miller called Little Pilot and coloured it up with Copics and coloured pencils.  It definitely has a very Canadian feel in the layout too!  

I used a cloud background die to add some texture, as well as some die cut and wood veneer stars to tie the themes together.  The white rivets are added with a white Sharpie pen.  The sentiment is from Concord & 9th and is layered on vellum.  

Created for one of our favourite 3-year old’s birthday!

Stunning Magnolias from Crafty Meraki

Hello!  I’m delighted to be hopping on Instagram with the Crafty Meraki Team for the beautiful March Release called Meraki Harmony.  There are so many delightful designs this month, and I had a wonderful time creating.  Today, I’m starting off with one of my favourite cards from this release, it uses the gorgeous Whimsical Magnolias Presstacular Plate.  Magnolias are one of my favourite flowers - even though they don’t grow here in my part of Canada.  

The shimmer is lovely on the press plate when you foil it!  I coloured the design with Copics, using the coordinating Meraki Para-Die die to die cut it out.  The background is watercoloured with Daniel Smith Watercolours, and splatters of white acrylic paint.  A few vellum die cut circles give anchoring points for the layout.

Pressed Birthday Florals from Spellbinders

 

Hi There!  My friend had a Birthday and I wanted to make her a really pretty card with florals.  So, I pulled out a Spellbinders Betterpress Plate called Butterfly Bouquet.  Wow, it’s sure pretty.  And using the Betterpress gives you such stunning crisp lines.  I pressed it twice going both directions for a really full cardbase of flowers.  Aren’t they beautifully delecate?  I brought all the petals and leaves to life with Copic colouring.   

The sentiment is pressed from another Betterpress plate Let’s Celebrate Sentiments.  The whole sentiment read Happy Birthday Wishes, but I felt like it overwhelmed the card a bit, so I trimmed out the “Wishes” part of the sentiment.  

For accents, I added iridescent sequins, and used the tiny butterfly from the Butterfly bouquet trimmed out, just like it landed on the sentiment.

Hello!  How about a cuteness overload?  I’ve got this adorable little Balloon Girl from RAM Stamps today, and she’s just darling!  She has the cutest little dress, which is where the inspiration came from to create the feeling of eyelet for the background.  

I took strips of cardstock in white, Tidepool and Juniper (from Concord & 9th), and pulled out some of my older Spellbinders Dies to create eyelet sections, then I ink blended in varying layers to give the feeling of ombre and distressed colour.  

She’s coloured up with Copics, and I gave her a cute little scalloped frame.  

The die cut sentiment is from Concord & 9th, and I inked a few wood veneer stars with white ink to accent.  I think she’s really sweet!

Periwinkle Petals Birthday

 

Hello!  Have you ever pulled out a stamped image and you’re really not sure where it came from?  I have a pile of images I’ve printed or stamped and just never gotten to.  This gorgeous floral is illustrated by Marcella Hawley - that I know for sure.  Her style is unmistakable, I just can’t find if it was from Power Poppy back in the day....or even for Flourishes even farther back in the day.  Regardless, its a beauty - and needed to finally make an appearance on a card.  

The colouring is done with Copics, and finished off with coloured pencils.  I can’t remember the last time I used lace ribbon, but the cream of the cardstock and the pretty petals just lent itself to a old fashioned feel.  To liven it up I also added a strip of periwinkle glitter paper to accent.  The background embossing folder is one from Spellbinders.  Which gives it nice texture.  

The birthday sentiment is stamped from another Power Poppy image, Party Time, at least that I know :)

Sweater Weather Doggie with TCP

 

Oh it’s sweater weather, and I love it!  Welcome to the October release at The Cat’s Pajamas!   You’ll find all sorts of Autumn and Winter goodies this month.  Today I picked up the new Gnome for the Holidays.  It’s the cutest set full of Christmas gnomies, but the little weiner dog caught my eye and I knew he’d be perfect for a slimline design, and I knew he could pull of Autumn in his snazzy sweater!

He’s coloured up with Copics, with fine line sweater details done with coloured pencil.  Between his rubber boots, and toque, he’s a true Canadian ready for the season.  The sentiment is from a retired TCP polymer set, and I’ve added in the little leaves from a retired TCP Cut Ups die.  

The background dies give you all that sweater texture and the striping that coordinates with the image.  He’s sure a cutie!

Autumn Mums with The Greetery

 

We’ve just come home from an evening walk that was glorious.  I love Autumn walks.  The leaves have just started to turn colour, the air is still warm but not humid, the sunsets are truly beautiful.  It’s lovely to move into Fall.  Today I have a cozy arrangement of Mums from The Greetery called Mum’s the Word. It is a fun combination of stamp and stencil, where you begin by stencilling in background colour and finish with stamping the details.  

I used a rich palette of deep rosey shades and deep greens, cutting the framed flowers out with the Coordinating Die. I also added in a few extra stencilled and stamped blooms to fill out the framing and give a greater sense of dimension.  

The sentiment is stacked up in a few layers, and I’ve added in a few enamel dots for a perfect Autumn Birthday card!

Autumn Mums with The Greetery

Cozy Sweater and Red Rose Drama with Crafty Meraki

Well Hi!  I’ve got a fun surprise today as I am guesting with Crafty Meraki’s August Release called the Bountiful Release!  I have two cards to show you today, one with lots of texture and one with lots of drama!  

First up is this pretty clean white design showcasing the new dies called Strip Suite Chevron Chic.  Its a fantastic set of dies that come in three chevron patterns for borders - or as I’ve used it on this design, a whole card front.  To me it has the look of a cableknit sweater.  

After adding the chevrons to the cardbase, I also cut out a little bit of foiliage with the Olive Leaf Meraki Para-Dies, in deep green cardstock, and then the sentiment with the Meraki Moments Hello Para-Dies, in sparkly white glitter paper.  It’s simplicity is so striking.

To accent and keep it simple - I added one tiny red “chevron” piece, that I think reads like a sparkly red heart!  

Next up some bold colouring drama! 

This pretty flower spray uses the gorgeous previously released Birthday Bouquet Stamp Set , I stamped the image on Copic XPress It Blending paper, and only used a portion of it, colouring it with Copics and coloured pencil.  

The card base is treated with some deep mushroom ink blending to deepen the surface, then I added the brand new Zig Zag Zoom Die cut strips  to the card base in varying widths.  It makes a great backdrop to the flowers!

The card is finished with an embossed sentiment from the stamp set, and a few enamel hearts which make it perfect for a Birthday - or a Wedding!
