Baby Kittens

I’m getting ready for a card sale in the next week or so, and my friend said to me, “Christine, you need more baby cards!”   It’s true, I’m sort of past the baby stage and forget to make baby cards until I really need them.  I mean honestly - my daughter goes for University Orientation today so we are WELL past baby :)

So,  just for my friend and hopefully others that will come to buy cards, here are a couple of baby cards.

I used a There She Goes set that I just sold actually - I thought I’d stamp it one more time before I whisked it off to it’s new owner.  This company is no longer in business sadly, but boy they had some cute stamps and I enjoyed designing with them for a while.  This one was called “Cattitude”, and was full of cat themed illustrations (by Torico I believe).

Here’s the boy design.  Very CAS and simple.  Clean lines and limited embellishments.  The papers are from an older SU Subtles pack.

Such a cute set don’t you think?

And now the girl version...I thought it would be fun to use the theme of the yarn ball and create circular elements to make the card.

I switched up the colouring a wee bit, added some PTI paper, vellum circles, washi tape and some rhinestones and buttons for the girly effect.  The Spellbinders die is Heart Circles.

And just as cute in pink!

Here’s the Copics I used:

In the center are the Copics I used for both the basket and one of the kitties in each basket, on the left are the Copics I used specifically for the boy card and on the right are the ones I used specifically for the girl kitties.  Hopefully that all makes sense!

And this  most recent card is one of my favourites of the year Country Birthday…I spent a lot of time on that Prismacolouring and really loved how it turned out.  For me, that’s what it’s all about, creating something that expresses me and is something I’m proud of, and being able to give a little piece of myself to someone special.

Wishing each of you friends the most hopeful New Year yet.  May it be a year of growth, satisfaction and purpose!

Soaring...

I’d like to be that little girl soaring above today!  How about something bright and cheery to encourage all of us, I’ve had a long couple of weeks.

Did you hear the sad news that There She Goes Stamps is closing at the end of the year?  I feel really bummed :(  I really loved TSG and enjoyed working for a while on their Design Team.  I have really been drawn to Torico’s illustrations in particular for the entire time she’s been working there, so I’ll really miss her designs.  Today I thought I’d pull out another sweet TSG set illustrated by Iwona Palamountain - Flying By, (one of two she did for the company) and since it was illustrated by her I thought I’d do her Sketchbook Saturday design this week as well.

Fun sketch right?  I really enjoyed incorporating the balloon elements and the layers that peek through each other.  The designer paper are Carta Bella - Hello Again.   I think the colours are so fun and fresh!

I thought the twine was great to go with the balloons too.  Let’s sail away together shall we?

See you again tomorrow for Flourishes New Releases!  They are awesome….just sayin’!

Snow Buddies

The other day when I pulled out a stamp set to play in TSG’s challenge, I saw this stamp set again from TSG called - Season’s Greetings.  The whimsical drawings on this set are really sweet and I knew I wanted to do something with it again.  In the past I’ve always just played with the Santa or trees, but this time I pulled out the pair of snowmen.  (Aren’t they adorable?)  I thought about how I could also use the trees in the set and create a snow scene, almost like in a snow globe.  So, each part of this little diorama is popped up on a different layer, giving it lots of dimension.  Coloring is with Copics, and the papers are Echo Park - Reflections Christmas.

Enjoy your Monday everyone!  I’ll be back tomorrow with a design I created for my husband’s birthday (that’s today!).

(Copics:  BG10, BG11, BG34, G21, YG61, YG64, YG67, Y21, Y23, Y26, YR14, YR27, E23, E25, E27, R24, R27, R29, C2)

Dashing Through the Snow

We are definitely dashing through the snow here!  Woweee did we get a lot of snow the other day!   Cotton candy snow fell all day and night on Monday adding to the snow we already had giving us a good foot of new snow.  Our older son has started his first job this year, shovelling snow for our neighbour.  I think he’s going to get his money’s worth of work this winter.

There She Goes has a Winter Fun Challenge this week…and since it’s been eons since I’ve played in a TSG Challenge, and there’s always room for more Christmas designs….here’s my creation:

Here’s the little pup from TSG’s adorable Snowy Days set.  Torico’s little pups always make me smile. This little guy is ready for gift giving fun.  I coloured him up with Copics to match the Carta Bella - So this is Christmas DP.  I used this week’s Mojo Sketch, so I have actually done two challenges!  Amazing!

You know, as I’m looking at this photo the sentiment looks crooked, on the card it actually isn’t, I think it’s just the angles of the shots, or maybe I have to take a second look and re-adjust it!  Some snowflake embossing, a tucked snowflake under the ribbon and viola!

Enjoy dashing through whatever the weather is in your corner of the world!

Hopping Along for Jessica

This is my second post of the day.  Please CLICK HERE or scroll down for my Flourishes Friday post!

I'm hopping along to celebrate the Birthday of Jessica Knutsen, owner extraordinaire of There She Goes Stamps.  I had so much fun on the Design Team, so I was thrilled to be able to jump in on the fun.

One thing I really love about Jessica is her awesome prismacolor pencil coloring.  She does some magic with these pencils and her shading, and she's great at "creating a scene" (on paper! LOL) with masks.  So I thought I'd do it a little Jessica-style.

I pulled out my very cute My Little Friend set and masked and stamped these little guys out, adding some lines and connections with my Copic Multi-liner to get the scene to work with the hill and grass.  Then it was just fun colouring everything in, adding a little puffy cloud and some simple accents to make this birthday card fun.  You can click on either of these pictures if you want to see a little more detail.

Too cute right?!

Happy Birthday Jessica!  Thanks for all the TSG Fun!

And have fun hopping along to the rest of the celebration stops today:
