Treasure Sunrise Roses with Simon Says Stamp

Well, its been about 6 weeks since I’ve created for myself!  A lot of things have happened in the last few months including a big career change back into a church Pastoral role and our son got married last weekend.  A lot of my creating has gone to doing little bits and pieces for their wedding.  I honestly thought I might have lost my creative spirit.  It’s hard to start back up again isn't it?

When I’m lost for inspiration, I always go back to what I know, and that’s my love of colouring.  I pulled out this stunning set from Simon Says Stamp called Beautiful Flowers and its coordinating die.  I inked it in Toffee Crunch Memento Ink for a no line look, and coloured the image with Copics, and a bit of coloured pencil for details.  I have some Sunrise Roses in the front flower bed which I used as inspiration for this design.  They come out of the bud in deep coral shades and then fade to apricot and the faintest peachy blossom.

The image is so beautiful and large that I went with an A6 sized card for the design.  The background is first inked on the card base with SSS’s background stamp Overlapping Drops, and then the next layer is ink blended with Distress Oxide ink and then run through the SSS Pincushion Plate Die, where I left all the holes in the die so it just brings texture.  I’ve added in some ink blended die cut leaves for more tone on tone texture.

The sentiment, from the stamp set is embossed onto a vellum strip.  Hope you enjoyed!

Stencilled Rose with Concord & 9th

Hello! Today I’m back with another pretty Long Line Rose card from the Bundle at Concord & 9th and a slightly different application using the stencil, rather than watercolouring like the other day this week.

For this design I stamped the image and then used the stencil for colouring, adding in a few details at the end with a coloured pencil.  I also stamped the background of the card with the stamps and then ink blended some more saturated colour.  Those repeated patterns always tie a card together so nicely.

For some contrast, I embossed a Spellbinders frame with clear EP and framed up the flower.  It adds such nice shine.  The sentiment is a lovely encouragement!

Graphic Flowers with Crafty Meraki

Hi There!  Today I’m hopping along on Instagram Crafty Meraki, showing off another card for the April Release Meraki Melody.  I hope you pop over to Instagram to see all the creations!

For this fun and graphic design I used the new Meadow Muse Press-Tacular Plate, and the really awesome A2 Timeless Frames Para-Dies.

I decided to bring some fun colours together and coloured up parts of the images with Copics,  then I outlined the edges with a black Copic marker.  I also pressed the image into the background of the card.

To tie all the colours together, I used Crafty Meraki Strip Suite- ZigZag Zoom dies.  The sentiment is from the Meadow Muse Stamp set.

Just a few Meraki Matte Eclipse Black Opal Gems add some shine and coordinate with the black centres of the flowers.  Thanks for stopping by!

Peony Sunshine with Pink Fresh Studios

Happy Friday!  Today I’m bringing a little floral sunshine with this pretty new set from Pink Fresh Studios, it’s called Peony Perfection.  In my garden I have 7 different peony plants, and one of my favourite ones is called Coral Charm, so I coloured the blooms with that variety in mind.  The set comes with coordinating dies, which I used to cut them out.

I stamped the background layer of the card with the set, then added texture with the Dotted Chevron Coverplate Die.  Each of the blossoms are popped up.

Isn’t that sentiment a lovely one?  A perfect way to congratulate someone, or use as a Wedding design.

Meadow Flowers with Crafty Meraki

Just a couple of weeks ago we were in Victoria, BC on Vancouver Island.  One of my favourite places to travel, especially in the Spring.  They are at least 6 weeks ahead of us in growing season, with their temperate climate.  It was gorgeous seeing all of the flowers blossoming!  Cherry trees, Magnolias, Daffodils, Tulips, Camellias....I could go on and on.  It put me in a very happy place!  Inspired by all of that beauty, today I’ve brought a very vibrant Spring palette with the new Meadow Muse Suite of products from  Crafty Meraki!  For this design I used the Press-Tacular Plates  the coordinating Layering Stencil set, and the coordinating die set.

After I pressed the design into cardstock and stencilled, I die cut the image, I also pressed a few extra blossoms to be able to pop some up for dimension.  I added a bit of colour with my coloured pencils for definition, and then placed it on a clear cardstock base.

The sentiment is from the Meadow Muse Stamp Set, and I accented with a few sprigs of die cut Olive Leaf Para-Dies.

Appreciate you stopping by!

You’re So Wonderful with Concord & 9th

Hi There!  I just love great colour combinations!  This month Concord & 9th showcased a new combination of Creamsicle, Grapefruit, Spiced Cider, Oceanside and Juniper.  I thought it was a fun one to play with.  I picked up my Artisan Petals Bundle of Turnaround Stamps and dies and did a little inking.

After I had stamped all the layers of colour, I created some texture by running the panel through Concord & 9th’s Basket Weave Card Front Die.  It creates the perfect accent.  I also stamped a few extra florals from the set and die cut them to use as accent.  The sentiment is cut 3 x and stacked together over an outline layer of vellum.

Lastly, it’s just a few enamel dots in coordinating colours to give some bling.  What do you think of this colour combo?

Watching You Bloom with Pink Fresh Studios

Hi There!  Ever have one of those days where you need a pretty card, but don’t have a lot of time to create?  Today was one of those days, and these new products from Pink Fresh Studios from the Peony Perfection Suite were perfect!  I started off with the Washi Tape in Pink and the coordinating Peony Perfection Dies for quick and showstopper blossoms.

Next, I used the new Leafy Lattice Press Plate and coordinating Dies with foiling to create the gorgeous lattice.  I ink blended the background and then placed all the elements onto the page.  A little splash of gold paint adds that metallic touch.

The sentiment is from the Peony Perfection Stamp set, and I embossed it in gold, and a few gold enamel dots are the pretty jewelry accents.

Meraki Harmony Hop with Crafty Meraki

Today I’m excited to hop along with the Crafty Meraki Design Team celebrating the recent Meraki Harmony Release on Instagram.  There are prizes and giveaways, so be sure to join us there!  For my card today, I created a sweet little design with the Feathered Friends Suite of products.  I’ve used the Crafty Meraki Feathered Friends Press-tacular Plate, the Feathered Friends Layering Stencil, and the coordinating die.

To create the background texture of this richly coloured design, I used the Crafty Meraki Parisienne Slimline Para-Dies, and then layered the image overtop.  With all the jewel tone shades, it feels very tropical!

The sentiment from the coordinating Feathered Friends Stamp Set is embossed, and I’ve added Jade Shadows Dew Drops for some sparkle.

Be sure to pop on over to my Instagram page and this post to join in on the hop, and enter to win!

Sweet Spring Curios with The Greetery

Hi there!  I was in the mood for something petite and pretty that spoke Spring.  So, I pulled out the pretty dies from The Greetery in the Curio Collection, both the Curio Spring Findings die set and the Curio Summer Findings die set.  I chose a soft pastel Spring palette, and ink blended colour onto all the different elements, pairing that with a Kraft Postage Collage Die, from Waffle Flower.

I stencilled the background shapes with the coordinating Waffle Flower Postage Collage Stencil to add some soft blue ink to the background, and I also ink blended the background with Kraft coloured ink and then splattered to coordinated with the robin’s eggs.

The sentiment uses The Greetery’s New Day Sentiments stamp set.  After ink blending on the strip, I stamped it in black ink.  A couple of wood veneer star accents keep it whimsical and natural.

Sweet Magnolia Hi with Pinkfresh Studios

With the cost of supplies going up, I’m making more of an effort to pull out items in my stash to create with.  This lovely magnolia design uses Pinkfresh Studios awesome stamp called Magnolia Pattern, and the coordinating stencils.  For this design, I used traditional pink magnolia colours.  I started by stamping the image in Angel Pink Memento Ink.

I stencilled in the blossoms, and added a Copic coloured blue background.  I also adding an extra blossom, heat embossed in white ink.  I trimmed this one out, adding in a bit of definition to the stencilled colour with Copics.

I also added in some texture to the background using Pinkfresh’s Dotted Chevron Coverplate Die.

To showcase the focal flower, I added a framed element with Pinkfresh’s Rounded and Braided Rectantle Die, adding the flower popped up on foam squares, and then included a die cut sentiment (Concord & 9th), and two little white enamel hearts.  It’s such a pretty nod to Spring!  Thanks for joining me today!

Flowers for Ukraine from Honey Bee Stamps

Blue and Yellow Floral Shaker Card for Ukraine

Hi There!  I wanted to do a card this week to honour Ukraine and the ongoing war, as they fight for their country.  So much news is painful isn't it? However, today I wanted to also speak about something encouraging related to Ukraine.  When the war started 3 years ago, our church sponsored a family and their friends, nine people, to come to Canada as refugees.  The father in the family has a life threatening condition and would have died had they stayed in Ukraine.  What has followed has been such a story of restoration and hope.  They are a beautiful family, and have chosen to live a life of influence, reaching out to many other Ukrainian refugees in our city.  This has developed into a significant ministry focus out of our church.  Due to the language barrier, we started an English Language Learner program, which now serves hundreds of refugees from many countries in helping them learn English, Canadian customs, assisting them in navigating the different systems here, and helps them build friendships and community.  It has not only helped the refugees and newcomes, but has dramatically impacted our church culture in all the most beautiful ways. It has made us more intentional, compassionate and joy filled.   They have made a difference in our lives equally as much as we might have had an impact in theirs.  When the news gets discouraging, it’s important for me to remind myself of things like these - and the difference we can make.

This card was designed to convey that hope.  I started with a lovely set from Honey Bee Stamps called Squared Spring Florals, and the coordinating Honey Cuts Dies.

Rather than using the stencil that goes with the set, I coloured the image with Copics in the colours of the Ukrainian flag.  I also added some background stamping in white using the set as well.

Then I turned the center portion of the stamp set into a shaker design for Simon Says Stamp March IG Challenge.

A few extra holeless mirrored sequins accent the design outside of the shaker as well.

Great to have you stop by!

Rosey Roses with Simon Says Stamp

Hi There!  A few weeks ago when I was watercolouring a Simon Says Stamp’s amazing Beautiful Flowers Set, I also embossed the loose roses from the set, and after painting them I set them aside for later.  They made for a really pretty arrangement for a second card.

To play off the colours of the roses, I did some ink blending, and colour lifting with a stencil in the background.  It makes for great colour and texture.  To accent and add some sparkle, I used Crafty Meraki’s Olive Leaf Para-Die on gold glitter paper.  It’s perfect for extra foliage.

The sentiment is from Concord & 9th’s die set, Short and Sweet Dies,  and I’ve added in some ‘berry’ enamel dots to accent.

Meraki Genesis Release

Hello Friends!  Today is an exciting day for Crafty Meraki with a brand new release called Meraki Genesis live today! Today begins with a hop on Instagram, so be sure to come see my IG post on my feed HERE.  There are giveaways and inspiration galore!

My first card for this release is inspired by my friend Clara’s crabapple tree.  Each Spring it would bloom with an abundance of bright pink blossoms.  It was truly an amazing sight.  So, for this card I used the brand new and gorgeous press plate called You Inspire Me Presstacular Plate.  This plate is gorgeous and gives you stunning fine lines impressed in your paper.

Bringing the image to life, I used the coordinating stencil for all those gorgeous pinks and greens, and the coordinating dies to cut it out.  I placed the flower spray on a pink cardstock base with texture added from Crafty Meraki’s Mini Slimline Parisienne Para-Dies.

I’ve embossed the sentiment from the coordinating You Inspire Me Stamp Set on vellum and simple enamel dots accent.

Be sure to pop over to this card on my Instagram feed to comment and follow, and follow the hop....there are so many beautiful designs in store from the team.

Coke with Lemon and Concord & 9th

After 2 LONG MONTHS, where the postal strike in Canada was NOT kind to me, I finally received my Concord & 9th Order from November today!  I lickity split started a card after work with this ridiculously cute bundle from them called Soda-Lighted.  Anyone who knows me, knows I am a Coca-Cola girl.  Like I deeply love it.  Even just hearing a can open makes my heart happy!  So, of course my first card with this set had to be a coca-cola like can.  I mean, how cute is that!

I started with the stamping of the can, used the dies to cut it out all in that quintisential bright red.  I layered the card over a die cut using the Postively Cut Card Front from Concord & 9th, to add to that red and white theme, and then just because Coke with lemon popped into my head I went ahead and grabbed the Citrus Crush Bundle from Concord and 9th and die cut the lemon as a citrussy accent.  How cute right?

Finally I added in some soda bubbles with clear Dew Drops, and the hello diecut sentiment from the Soda-Lighted set.  Crisp and cute, just like my favourite drink!

Thanks for joining me today!

The Sky’s the Limit with TCP

Well, its the end of a sweet era for The Cat’s Pajamas.  I’m both sad and excited for Alma and all that is in store for her in the future.  I’ve had the best time the last 12 or so years with the team.  So, for my last official TCP post, I pulled out a favourite of mine....Sky’s the Limit.  I’ll always love this bunny!  I printed the digi image large enough to cover a good portion of the card, and coloured the design with Copics in The Cat’s Pajamas colours!  It seemed the perfect way to send Alma off with lots of hope.

I trimmed out the bunny and balloon and added him to a cardbase which I ink blended an ombre background of deep pink.  Next I added in a cloud die for the background texture and then some TCP Cloud dies (retired) to accent.

Just a little white enamel heart to finish it off.

You only have a few more days left to pick up your TCP favourites at 30% off!  Once December 31st comes they’re gone forever!
