Clean and Simple New Colours with Concord & 9th

Hello!  Happy Colourful Day!  I am delighted to live in a world with such beautiful colour.  So, when Concord & 9th introduced another set of six new colours I was IN.  The six new colours a great addition to their collection of cardstock and inks.  Today I’m playing with the Blooming Hello Inlaid Die which is exclusive to their new Colour Club, and I’ve used 4 of the new colours on this card (Lakefront, Plumberry, Pistachio and Starfruit), plus the addition of Aqua Sky.  I’m crazy about the moody blue-green of Lakefront.

For this design I went very clean and simple and used the dies from the inlay on a CAS layout.  The greenery and florals from the die are perfect to use on their own, and tucked around this beautiful die cut “Hello” font, it makes a nice flower spray.

A few clear dew drops are a great accent and added texture.  It’s not often I make CAS cards, I’m just not really good at them, but this was a happy graphic and cheerful medium.

Painted Flower with Waffle Flower

Hi Again!  I’ve got something clean and simple today, embracing all that wonderful white space!  I’m using Waffle Flower’s Painted Flower Stencil and coordinating Die.  Honestly this is such an afforable combo - you can get both for under $20.

I picked really soft colours for the stencilling/ink-blending.  One thing I did note is that you really do need to mask the other areas of the stencil as they are put together quite tightly.  It’s a really abstract flower, so you can add the interior layers a bit uniquely.  So you can see my wild flower centre placement :)  I prefer the softer of the two flowers for sure.  But variety is nice!

A bit of gold splattering and gold enamel dots add more shimmer, and the sentiment is foiled with Spellbinders Yana’s Sentiments Glimmer.    Thanks for stopping by!

Monday Sunshine with Concord & 9th

Hello!  How about some sunshine to get ready for Monday morning?!  I have a cutie here from Concord & 9th with their newest Turnabout Stamp called Folkart Flower.  These stamps are a nice way to create your own layers of colour in a patterned paper style of print with up to 4 colours of ink, or you can stamp with less colours, even monochrome.  And this one is extra fun because you can choose to remove the center of the stamp to make space for a focal image.  I picked a fun colour combo I liked that sang Spring to me.

I’ve paired the background stamping with some pretty die cute flowers from the Build a Bloom Dies to coordinate with the stamping.  This card is a 5 x 5 size.

The sentiment is from the Turnabout Stamp, and I’ve added some extra enamel dots and leftover paper pieces to accent the middle like confetti.

Thank you for dropping by!

Pretty in Pink Vellum with Crafty Meraki!

Hello Friend!  I’ve been keeping a sweet secret!  This month I’m a Guest Blogger on Tuesdays at Crafty Meraki!  What a joy to be creative with all the lovely products and supplies Crafty Meraki has to offer.

Today I’ve got two designs to show you, both using vellum in fun ways more layered, and more clean and simple.

First off, I have some pretty Peonies to show you using the beautiful Peony Crafty Meraki Peony Artisan Flora Para-Dies. Creating this card was a really fun way to showcase the transluscence of vellum.

To create the beautifully soft petals, I used the die with vellum cardstock, running it through my die cutting machine.  Once all the pieces were cut out, I used ink and my blending brushes to give some soft pink colour to the petals, and green to the leaves and stems.  Because vellum is very non-porous, you have to leave extra time for ink on the layers to dry.

Next I added some extra depth and colour using coloured pencils so there would be more definition in some layers, and then I carefully assembled the petals with small dabs of white craft glue onto the peonies and greenery.  Because of vellums transparence you need to be strategic on where you place the glue so it doesn’t show between your layers.

Once I found an arrangement I liked, I placed the peonies on a bright pink and white cardstock background that I had run through my die cutting machine with the gorgeous Parisienne Mini Slimline Die,
I used the die on both the pink panels and the white panel.  The pretty texture is just the right backdrop for the ethereal petals.

I dug deep in my ribbon stash and found a pretty folded satin ribbon that added a nice vertical and textural element to the card and attached it with ScorTape to the card base.
After everything was pulled together, I splattered pink ink onto the card.  I finished the design with some pretty mirrorless sequins and a foiled sentiment using Crafty Meraki’s Handmade Love hot foil plate.

Here I added pink foil to a softer pink cardstock and cut it out with the coordinating Handmade Love dies.  Very pretty in pink!

Next up, a very clean and simple design!

Vellum is a great type of paper for accents!  For this card I started with a white cardstock base, and then cut out matching tiny squares.

Then, I ink blended the squares in pink using an ombre style of saturation moving from almost white at the bottom right to fully saturated pink in the top left square.
I added these to the card base lining them up with a T square to ensure they were symetrical and the popped them up with foam squares.

Next,  I pulled out the delicate Olive Leaf Meraki Para-Dies and ran vellum and the die through my die cutting machine.  I used a paper shim to make sure all those intricate cuts came through.  I placed the vellum leaves in a stacked arrangment on the popped up squares so the pretty colour of the ink shows through the leaves.

Finally, I ran the Meraki Moments Hugs Hot Foil plate and die combo through my Glimmer Machine using pink foil and cut the foiled image with the coordinating die.  This layer is also popped up with foam dots, and I finished acceting with some simple and tiny enamel dots. I don’t often do Clean and Simple cards, but vellum has such delicate nature it works perfectly for this style of card.

Thanks so much for joining me today!

Garden Paths with Concord & 9th

Hello!  I just love pretty floral stencils!  Today’s design from Concord & 9th is such a charming one called Garden Path Bundle which incorporates both the stencil and coordinating sentiments that fit in the “pathway”.  It is all things Spring and beautiful, so I had to go with a pretty Spring palette of soft corals and soft blue greens together.  So delightful!

To keep some detail in the stencil, I added in details with coloured pencils and then used Concord & 9ths Quilted Card Front Die to add texture to the design.

Just a few enamel dots complete this really clean and simple (but oh so darling) card design!  Thanks for stopping by!

Dainty Notecard with Concord & 9th

The other day when I was creating the Parcel of Petals card I had a number of leftover die cut flowers that I didn’t want to go to waste, so I popped them on a little 4 1/4 x 4 1/4 note card using the same colour palette, just with a colourful card base.

It makes for such a pretty combination don’t you think?  The flowers and sentiment use the new Bundle Parcel of Petals.  I thought the font on congratulations was the perfect dainty script and size.

Just another case for not tossing your scraps from a project.  This was a quick 10 minute card!

A Parcel of Petals With Concord & 9th

Good Monday morning!  I just noticed yesterday what a difference in light we have in the morning now in the Northern Hemisphere, a little bit of sunshine goes a long way!  I’m bringing some more sunshine with this pretty little card today using products from Concord & 9th.

I started with the new stamp and die Parcel of Petals Bundle.  The dainty flowers and that mini envelope stole my heart. And my flower loving heart feels such joy at the idea of flowers bursting out of an envelope for someone.  Now that’s a joy bringer!

I chose a fun palette of dusty pinks to yellows with just a touch of ink blended tidepool on the leaves.  It’s all placed on a card base which is created with the Quilted Card Front Die.  To tie in the colours of the card I ink blended the top and bottom with Buttercup and Briar Rose inks.

Feels like some warm sunshine to me!  Thanks for stopping by!

Dainty Blue Petals with PTI

Hi there friends!  Today I’m bringing something simple and elegant.  There’s just nothing like simple stems of flowers.  I adore this stencil set from PaperTrey Ink called Wild Blooms.  So, I blended some Distress Ink through the stencil, then added some detailing in with coloured pencils, while keeping the softness of the design.

Next, to give the panel some more textural interest, I ran it through a double lined card front die both horizontally and vertically to make a grid pattern.  I think it’s just the right touch for that white space, without distracting from the flowers.

Another pretty sentiment from a retired PTI set and a tiny enamel heart complete it!  Sweet simple and encouraging.  Appreciate you joining me here today!

Birthday Texts with TCP

Well Hello!  This fun card was supposed to show up for you on Tuesday this week, but I forgot to publish!  So, I’ll just show it to you a wee bit late!  You can always stay updated with my creative endeavours on my Instagram page as well.  ChristineCreationsart  I’d love it if you’d follow me there :)

This one is for those friends that are far away on their Birthday.  My concept was sending a text to someone you love who’s far away on their Birthday.  So this adorable January Release set from The Cat’s Pajamas called Small Talk inspired it all.  The adorable little bubbles with cute sentiments (which would also be perfect for Valentine’s) were just the ticket.

I used the retired polymer stamp set for my design, but it could easily be adapted for the digi set.  I coordinated inks and colours with a fun colour palette, and added a coordinating stencilled background, and card base with ink blending to give it lots of fun colour.

Just a few fun enamel shapes finish off the accents.  Hope you enjoy!

CAS Graphic Art with Concord & 9th

Hello!  I would never say that I’m a master of Clean and Simple, but there are times when inspiration strikes and even I can pull together a great idea that was a hoot to create!  When I saw the scraps of the tiny plane windows from yesterday’s post on my desk, I thought they’d be a fun way to create a card.  I also really love this colour palette and had to try it again, so I pulled out a bunch of Concord & 9th stamps and dies to create.

On each little plane window, I added some element of a stamp or die that showcased the monochrome colour in each window.  I used the Plane Amazing Bundle for the windows and heart stamp , Cloudy Double Card Front Die for the flying heart stamp, Cottage Garden Dies for the pink petals, Flower Shoppe Dies for the potted plants, Plaid Card Front Dies, and the  Postively Cut Card Front Die, plus the Book Shoppe stamp for the hello.

I am so happy with it!  I love the simple shapes, colours and textures in each little section!

Thank you for joining me today!

Shiny Birthday Confetti

I have really been enjoying playing with foiling on my cards.  It’s SO fun to see the magical reveal of the sparkle when you lift the foil, and I love the sparkle and impression it leaves.  This card uses products from Spellbinders and MFT for foiling, and I think they go nicely together.

I started with the background layer using Spellbinder’s Slimline Confetti Background done in Speckled Prism and then ink blended the background with Distress Oxide inks to get a ombre effect.  This foil is an awesome one because it picks up the colours of what is around it, so it takes on the blue-purple tone of the ink-blending.

One thing I really appreciate about foiling is that you can also use the leftovers of the “reverse” of the foil.  I don’t like wasting things, so this revelation was a happy one for me!  When Spellbinders had their big sale I purchased the Solid Rectangle Essential Glimmer Plate to be able to also add the reverse foil from the background to another piece of cardstock, and then die cut out the sentiment with MFT’s Happy Words Die-namics.

For the cute candle accent I used MFT’s Wish Die  and then added some of the inner circles from the “a” and “p’s” in the sentiment as popped up confetti.

Clean, simple and perfect for the next Birthday!

Cherry Happy Day!

Whenever I see something with Cherries I’m transported to Summer and all the cherries that grow on our tree.  That red and green combo is such a fresh one for summer, so these adorable So Cherry stencils from Paper Trey Ink stole my heart!  They are so affordable too, always a bonus.  The stencil has two pieces, one with larger cherries, and this one with smaller cherries.  I ink blended the background in pops of traditional red and greens.

The sweet sentiment comes from Concord & 9th’s A Bit of Paradise Bundle, I embossed the sentiment, then used the dies to frame it up over vellum, and a bit of red and white checkered patterned paper.

Clean simple and so sweet!

Mod Thoughts

We’re back in the 70’s again!  I’ve got a couple of MOD designs for you today!  I’m playing with Concord & 9th’s Mod Turnabout Stamp and some fun colour combos for today’s cards.  One is a little more feminine, and one a little more masculine.

For this design, I added some of the rounded squares popped up to give some extra interest and dimension.  I also only when for 3 passes of the stamp so it leaves some white space for the design.  This design uses Blueberry, Tidepool Sorbet and Nectar inks.

Now for the more masculine design.

Now on THIS one, somehow I must have misaligned my turnabout stamp and whew!  the pattern does not line up!  But I actually don’t mind it!  It makes it even more MOD :)  I’ve used Concord and 9th’s Tidepool, Spiced Cider, Midnight and Pebble, on Pebble cardstock.  It darkens the colours so that the cardstock almost looks a little light, but it’s really that grey colour of the cardstock that give it that deeper colour.

To match the pattern, I took a die from PinkFresh Studios Rounded & Braided Rectangle Die, that I trimmed down to look more like a rounded square.

Thanks so much for joining me today!

Fresh Florals with Concord & 9th

Recently I picked up a few things from Concord and 9th including their new inks and paper, as well as this lovely stencil called Flower Press Stencil.  I love the mix of blooms in it and all the colour combinations that are possible!  For this design I used 4 inks from Concord and 9th, Juniper, Lemongrass, Grapefruit, and Aqua Sky.

To add more colour and dimension to the flowers, I added in more colour depth with Faber Castell coloured pencils to match the inks, and then ran it through Pinkfresh Studios’ Intricate Stitched Ovals Coverplate die.   The extra texture really adds a fun touch.

Next I framed it out and added the sentiment with some retired The Cat’s Pajamas dies, cutting two layers of the letters so it has more dimension.

Simply accented with some matching enamel dots and its a simple and colourful design!  Hope you enjoyed it!

Mailable Backgrounds Series: Magnolias

Today I’m starting a series of cards which are all Clean and Simple Designs created to be mailable, but still have lots of colour and design punch.  I needed to send cards to all of our staff who are located all over the US and Canada with a gift card enclosed, so each card needed to have less weight and bulk than a normal card I might make.   With needing to send 20 cards, I tried to maximize my design time by creating similar designs with cohesive themes.

I’m beginning with four cards I created using PinkFresh Studios beautiful Magnolia Pattern Cling Stamp and coordinating Stencils.  This set has really clean modern lines, so it lends itself really well to backgrounds, and clean and simple designs.

The main image is stamped with Tuxedo Black ink and the the stencil is used with Distress Oxide Inks (Iced Spruce, Evergreen Bough, Scattered Straw and Dried Marigold).  Then for each card I treated that background panel a bit differently, here I cut out an arched window with a die, and embossed a sentiment from The Greetery’s set Arched Sentiments.  The contrast of that pop of lime green on the blue-green cardstock really pops.

In the pairing design I used a slightly darker blue-green cardstock as my arched window, but this version is popped up.

Making use of all the elements I could, I die cut a tiny arch out for the top design, and then placed that and another small patterned arch on the bottom card in this pairing.

I chose not to use any accents on the cards so that they would be as flat as possible.

The two windowed arch also makes use of a beautiful background die from Pink Fresh Studios Intricate Stitched Ovals Coverplate.  The pretty scripted sentiment is from Power Poppy’s Cabbage and Kale.  I’m loving this colour palette!

I’ll be back later this week with more from my Mailable series of cards!
