I have really been enjoying playing with foiling on my cards. It’s SO fun to see the magical reveal of the sparkle when you lift the foil, and I love the sparkle and impression it leaves. This card uses products from Spellbinders and MFT for foiling, and I think they go nicely together.
I started with the background layer using Spellbinder’s Slimline Confetti Background done in Speckled Prism and then ink blended the background with Distress Oxide inks to get a ombre effect. This foil is an awesome one because it picks up the colours of what is around it, so it takes on the blue-purple tone of the ink-blending.
One thing I really appreciate about foiling is that you can also use the leftovers of the “reverse” of the foil. I don’t like wasting things, so this revelation was a happy one for me! When Spellbinders had their big sale I purchased the Solid Rectangle Essential Glimmer Plate to be able to also add the reverse foil from the background to another piece of cardstock, and then die cut out the sentiment with MFT’s Happy Words Die-namics.
For the cute candle accent I used MFT’s Wish Die and then added some of the inner circles from the “a” and “p’s” in the sentiment as popped up confetti.
Clean, simple and perfect for the next Birthday!
