Thankful for You with Simon Says Stamp

With being gone all of October, I really didn’t get enough time to create with Autumn themed designs, so I’m sneaking in a couple more this week.  Today’s design uses Simon Says Stamp’s Fresh Air Fall Flowers.  The variety of leaves and flowers give you many opportunities to mix and match.  Once I found a colour palette I liked, I did all the stamping and die cutting. 

Sometimes card designers can feel like florists don’t you think?  Playing around until we find an arrangement we like?  I placed the layers on a card base with The Greetery’s Herringbone Parquet Die.  It adds great texture.  

The sentiments in the set are really great, especially for the season.  Have a happy Monday!

Fall Forest Whimsy with The Cat’s Pajamas

 

Well Hi!  Today I’m bringing you the most charming whimsical little Autumn scene!  It’s created with The Cat’s Pajamas stamps and digital images, and lots of Copic colouring.  I started with creating a Fall themed background with TCP’s Fall Foliage digital stamp set, arranging the leaves, acorns and toadstools in a fun layout.  

Next I also took some of those same leaves and shrunk them down really tiny so that I could add them to this retired stamp set scene, giving it the feel of a windy Autumn day where the leaves are swirling (its very west-coast with gigantic leaves!).  These little leaves are trimmed out after colouring and added to the Copic coloured scene.  Aren’t these little woodland animals darling dressed in their cozy sweaters and scarves?  

The main image is popped up and I’ve added texture to the background with a plaid style die, as well as a few enamel dots to accent.  It’s the perfect all occasion card for Fall!

Fall Forest Whimsy with The Cat’s Pajamas

Foiling with Crafty Meraki Two Ways

Hi there!  It’s Tuesday and that means another week of guest posting for Crafty Meraki and this week our theme is foiling!  So, I’ve brought you TWO very different designs with foiling, a floral and a masculine style design.  

First up this gorgeous array of flowers from Crafty Meraki’s very beautiful Elegance Hot Foil Plate and coordinating Stencil.  It’s a large sized flower and makes a great statement on a card.  I foiled the image twice in gold, once on white cardstock and then a second time on the new Rainbow Canopy Paper Pack.    

After trimming the flowers out fussy cutting style, and stencilling in purples shades with ink, I carefully added in a few of the patterned paper leaves into the design paper by paper piecing.  Those little pops of colour and pattern are a fun touch.  I used some die cut octagons in the background in purple cardstock and pattern paper to die the colours and pattern papers together.  

The pretty sentiment is also foiled on purple cardstock from Crafty Meraki’s Handmade Love Hot Foil Plate and coordinating die.  These are fun scripty fonts to play with.  

Next up is a more masculine style (or maybe better said a more neutral design).

I’m playing with my favourite colour, green!  For this design I started with Crafty Meraki’s Evergreen Elegance EAP.  This is a type of patterned paper with images that are already coloured, it makes for quick card making, embellishing or an entire design as I created today!  I picked a few sheets of coloured leaves that I liked, trimmed them out (though they do have coordinating dies) and combined that with some Olive Leaf Meraki Para-Dies, cut on vellum.   Then, because this is a foiling focussed card, I foiled both the sentiment from Meraki Moments Hugs Hot Foil Plate and die Combo in green faceted foil.  

To add foiled Olive Leaf die cuts in the arrangement, I foiled a rectangle using a solid foiling plate, and then die cut the foiled olive branches out of that piece of foiled paper.  When I found an arrangment I liked, I spread some Press n Seal overtop to hold everything together while I created the background.  

The background rectangle is run through the Crafty Meraki Parisienne Mini Slimline Para-Dies for that beautiful impressed pattern, and then I spritzed that layer with water and sprinkled some Lindy’s Magical powders (Pondorosa Pines Olive) onto the layer, spritzed again and all this beautiful pigmented green starts to play!  

Then I assembled the card with lots of foam dots to create a good amount of dimension.  All that green is so wonderful!  A few enamelled dots complete the accents.

Foiling with Crafty Meraki Two Ways

Masculine Monday with Waffle Flower Postage

 

Hello out there!  Today I”m bringing you a little masculine inspiration with a number of company’s products, but all based around Waffle Flower’s Postage Collage Bundle.  Its such an ingenious way of creating cards!  This time I decided to go a little masculine.  If there is one style of card I’m usually lacking in its masculine!  

I’ve used TCP’s retired postage stamps, and dies (like that fun mailbox and acorn), then stencils from the Waffle Flower set, embossing paste (lower right corner leaves), and dies from Concord & 9th A Bit of Paradise for the tropical leaf dies.  

It makes for a perfect masculine design for a Birthday with the blues, greens and neutrals!

Masculine Monday with Waffle Flower Postage

Faux Embossing with Stencils and SSS

hello!  After a week in CA for work, I’m ready for Spring! Winter is still sticking around here, so I created a little splash of Spring leaves with this pretty stencil from Simon Says Stamp called Autumn Cascade, but it makes just as lovely a card in other seasons.  

I chose some Distress Inks and ink blended the stencil, also adding in some coloured pencil definition.  Then to give it a bit of extra pop, I got out my light table and embossed it! 

All you need to do is place the coloured image face down over top of your stencil (precisely), and then the light table shining through allows you to use an embossing tool to press the images through, giving you some light embossing.  For a clean and simple design like this, a little touch of depth goes a long way.  

It’s such a pretty touch!  I also added coordinating die cut leaves, and a circle and sentiment from Concord & 9th’s A Bit of Paradise die set and the Short and Sweet Dies.  

Ready for a sweet hello to a friend!

Faux Embossing with Stencils and SSS

A Tropical Happy Day with C & 9th

 

We’ve got hot temperatures and some humidity in my corner of the world, humidity is not as usual for us, so we’re feeling a bit like the tropics right now!  And I have a very tropical card created with new goodies from Concord & 9th.  This design uses A Bit of Paradise Bundle with its awesome turn around stamp and coordinating dies.  I chose colours of yellow, orange and teal for Simon Says Stamps June Challenge and I love how the combo turned out!  

The sweet tropical leaf die cuts make great accents to the colourful background and I’ve added an embossed sentiment, as well as an Oceanside cardstock border from C&9 that gives the right amount of colouful framing.  A simple enamel heart accents the sentiment.

A Tropical Happy Day with C & 9th

Power Poppy’s Creative and Curious Release! Poppy XL & Big Sexy Leaves

Well, we’re beyond excited to bring you Power Poppy’s new Release!  It’s called Creative and Curious, and, as I’ve been mentioning the past few weeks, I think it’s some of Marcy’s finest artistic work.  You’ll find a little bit of everything good in this release, flowers, nature, new life, and vibrance.  It reflects the heart of Marcy and the heart of a beautifully creative and dynamic God.  It’s going to be a great week ahead!  

  

Today we’re kicking it off with two gorgeous sets, Poppy XL and Big Sexy Leaves.

It’s so fun to have a fabulous giant poppy for a company called Power Poppy!  This beauty is amazing.  There is so much room to really bring life to the design with colouring!  I’ve chosen to start with the orange version, but imagine this in reds, pinks or yellows?  Sigh!  

To maximize that long leggy poppy (can’t you imagine them swaying in the wind?), I decided to go with a tall and narrow size of card.  Just the right size to fit in a bank envelope.  I coloured the flowers and leaves with Copics, and in my research I found a really lovely orange poppy that has a purple center.  I also decided to colour block the card with those orange, purple and green shades.  

To soften a bit of the orange designer paper (from MFT), so it wouldn’t overpower the bloom, I layered some scalloped edged vellum and sewed it on.  This way it’s the poppy that shines not the paper.  

Here you can see a bit of the sewing between layers, the pretty orange ribbon (which I believe came on some of my Power Poppy stamps), and the sentiment. Aren’t those words sweet?!  How I love when we cheer each other on!  

Next up is Big Sexy Leaves!  

This is Power Poppy’s first background stamp!  And isn’t it a showstopper?  I was so delighted by the amazing array of tropical leaves that really could be done in so many different colour palettes.  I’ve found some fabulous inspiration photos that I’ll use in the future with this one.  Today, I wanted to go cool and lush, so it’s greens, purples and blues.  The card is 5 1/4 x 5 1/4 so that gives you the feel for how large and beautiful it is.  I think it would look great embossed in black too - so I’m looking forward to trying that as well.  

For the sentiment I used a pretty die from The Cat’s Pajamas, cut it out 3 x in black cardstock, glued the layers together so that it would have some dimension and then layered it on vellum, this way the sentiment stands out from the design, but you don’t lose the colour of all the leaves.  A few black sequins finish it off.
