TCP’s June Release is Soaring!

Hello out there!  I’m popping in for some pretty soaring stamp sets for you from The Cat’s Pajamas for June!  The theme this month is flight and you’ll find fabulous images and cut-files to play with.  I’m kicking off the month with 5 cute cards.  It’s also a new month, so that means the TCP Progressive Sale is up to 50% off now!

First up is this adorable bunny in balloon called Sky’s the Limit. this cutie was actually a mid-month release, but I love the image so much I had to throw it in today as well.  I began by colouring the bunny with Copics in these fun shades of coral and periwinkle blue.  I added a few defining details to the image with Prismacolor Pencils and trimmed it out.

I created a coordinating background with Watercolour to really give you the feel of a beautiful sunset ride.  A couple of TCP Stitched Clouds  and the sentiment is from TCP’s stamp set Scatter Joy.

Next up we’re flying a kite!

It’s Up, Up and Away!  This little dude is getting swept away by some great gusts today, but he doesn’t seem too bothered by it.  I’ve coloured up the penguin with Copics and found some great kite themed paper in my stash to accent the design die cut with TCP’s Four Seasons Duo Die to get that pretty deckled edge.

I also found an old kite die in my stash, so I used it to create a kite accent with a little baker’s twine bow to match.  A drawn black outline of the kite accent, and around the card tie it all together and almost give it a comic book feel.

Now we’ll buzz on over to the third design.

Bee Happy, Bee Gnomie showcases a fun Gnome in Bee attire, but it also has a lot of other great images, including this fun sentiment and the little sunflower sprays.  I created the background with the digital images of the flowers by randomly adding them to the background.  It’s like your own custom background paper.  I also added the little flower to the sentiment, and popped another one up.    Colouring is done with Copics.

A cheerful golden yellow bow ties it together.

Ever gone parachuting? I don’t think I could jump out of a plane, but our favourite Bunny is back with an opened chute, and it looks like he’ll make it to earth safely with this fun set Oh Chute!  I coloured him up with Copic markers and die cut the image.  I paired him with some blue patterned paper and added the TCP Cloud Border CutUps Die as an accent.

Perfect for any occasion you might have forgotten.

Last but not least, I have a design for anyone who’s SUPER in your life.

This set is called Superhero!  It’s a great set to customize for many loved ones, Mom, Dad, Son, Daughter and Friend are all included in the set.  I’ve highlighted the sentiment and my favourite super-bunny.  I picked some fun shades in turquoise and yellow, colouring with Copics, and accented the design with some TCP 3 x 3 paper stars.

A little touch of enamel dots and it’s complete.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this tour through the TCP June Release and all the flight themed designs!

Here’s a peek at all the NEW RELEASE items I showcased today.  And don’t forget about the Going Digital Progressive Sale at 50%!

Lilacs for Mom

Hi Friends!  Sorry for the absense, in the background I’m working on some fun stuff for later this month, but I also needed to create a Mother’s Day card for my mom, so, I pulled out some of my digi images that I had previously printed and found this lovely one, Lilacs and Lemons.  I know it was on sale last week (sorry!) but because it’s a digital image, it’s also really affordable.  My mom loves purple, so I was drawn to this beautiful pitcher of lilacs, with the pretty lemons to accent.  Al the colouring is done with Copics, and I’ve paired wiht with some pretty plaid paper that picks up a lot of the colours in the image.

The sentiment is stamped with another lovely Power Poppy set, Sweet Memories, and I’ve added a wee button and twine to accent.

Pop on over to see what my lovely friend Julie, is up to today and then the Power Poppy Blog

Thanks for stopping by!

Mom’s Peony

Today we’re bringing you a brand new challenge for the lovely month of May from Power Poppy!  Our equally lovely hostess Kathy has challenged us to Frame It Up!  You can create a frame on your card, frame a creation or decorate a frame.

Have you seen Marcy’s new digi?  It’s called Tree Peony, and it’s such a beaut!  Later today she’ll be releasing another new digital image that I think you’ll love too.

I was really looking forward to printing this image up nice and big to get a lot of colouring in there.  It did not disappoint.  Though....it did take me about 2 hours to colour :) I’m not speedy at colouring.

Last weekend my husband and I made a quick trip to Vancouver, BC.  He had some meetings there for work and I was able to take off from Thursday to Saturday, so we zipped over there.  I love the west coast!  Vancouver is at least a month ahead of us in growing season, so everything is blooming beautifully.  They have such a different climate from the prairies and can grow very different trees and plants and it was glorious!  We even got a couple of days of sun to soak it all in, and just one day of rain.

One evening we went to Granville Island to walk around the shops and market.  A little flower stand had some gorgeous blooms, including some really pretty peonies. I thought for sure they must be tree peonies because they were so large and full, but apparently they were simply regular peonies - just Vancouver sized :)  I loved the colour of them because they went from a peachy pink outside to a really light inside (below), so that was the inspiration for the colouring.

I created a frame by using some dies to cut into the big image.  I often do this with larger images because I love how the inset design pairs with the outer frame, having the coloured image on both parts.

Gorgeous aren’t they?

This one was fun to colour and good brain work too.  My natural inclination would be to colour the deeper tones of the flower in the centers or inner petals.  This flower however has the darker colour on the outer parts of the petals, and lighter insides, so its opposite of what I’d normally do.   The challenge was how to still create depth in the deeper petals while still staying true to the color of the blooms.  I used a BV00 marker to create shadow in the areas that would be shadowed and I’m happy with the result.  A few clear sequins add some sparkle and the sentiment from our Sweet Memories set makes it perfect for Mother’s Day.  Both of our mom’s love peonies.

Here’s the Copics I used.  Below I included a few more pictures from the trip.  I thought you might enjoy some of the things that were in bloom.

Magnolias galore!  That is one tree we would not be able to grow here, so it’s always so delightful to see them there.  Cherry trees were in bloom too, and they’re so spectacular as they cover the street boulevards.

Some Rhododendrons were starting to bloom, this one was quite stunning as it covered a whole sidewalk near Granville Island.

Some pretty tulips in Stanley Park were loving the sunshine.  The colouring on these blooms reminds me a lot of the peonies above too, I love that peach to pink tone.

So, join us in the Frame it Up Challenge!   The big, big BIG news is that this time, instead of being entered to win a Power Poppy set....you’ll be entered to win a $50 Gift Certificate!  Wowee Shopping fun!

Mummy!

Double post today - for my Power Poppy New Release click HERE

Welcome to some more fabulous sneak peeks from The Cat’s Pajamas!  It’s Day 5 and there’s still lots more great stuff in store!

Today’s set appeals to the Canadian in me :)  Here in Canada a good bunch of us say “Mum” rather than Mom when addressing our beloved Mother figures - so I thought this would be a funny one that can do double duty as a card.  My boys can “surprise” me by digging it out of my stash to give to me, or I can give it to my mom for fun.  It’s called Brains and it’s really cute.

I coloured up this little person in all his (or her) wrappings with warm grey Copics on Neenah White cardstock.    Then I trimmed it out with a little border.  I used some of the fabulous new Chevron Cutable file.  What’s so cool about this file is that there are a number of different styles of Chevron that you can play with.  The standard style is in the background window and the arrow style is on the borders of the card.

The window is cut with our new Fancy Flip Frames die,  and I added the sentiment from our Talk To Me CutUps.

Then it’s some faceted hearts and twine for fun.  Totally makes me smile!

Here’s the adorable set and the new dies I used.

Now...be sure to head on over to the TCP Splitcoaststampers Forum.  It’s a great way to chat about the New Release or anything else....AND be entered to win the set of the day.  Yippee!

And then, marke you calendars!  We’re inviting you to our Pajama Party, the night before the release goes live...

We’ll show you never before seen samples from this release AND there’s games and prizes too!

Here’s some more inspiration from The Cat Pack...

Pop Goes the World Challenge

Welcome to our first Challenges at Power Poppy!  We’re so excited you joined us for the fun!

This challenge is inspired by this gorgeous sunset photo using purples, oranges, yellows and grass green.  I thought it would be fun to recreate the feel of the sunset with these beautiful Gladioli from our new Instant Garden digi set

After I printed the image on some heavy cream card stock I die cut it out and leaving the die on I sponged these pretty colours on the design.  The colouring is with Copics.  For the card I used a Tim Holtz Stencil to sponge in the background to have the same colour feel as the main image.

There’s some pretty seam binding to match the colours in the design and I trimmed out just a little of the sentiment for the front of the card (printing in a soft orange colour - so great to do with digis).  And then added a pretty orange beaded gem to accent.

Here’s a quick look at the inside and the entire sentiment.  I’m going to use it for my Mom for Mother’s Day this weekend.

So now we’d love if you’d jump in on the Pop Goes the World Challenge!  Grab the digi of your choice from this month’s collection and go have fun!

Use any three of these colors in your card or creation and link to the Power Poppy Blog. Entries will be accepted until 3PM EST on May 30th. A Winner announced on June 2nd, after the June Release.  And ....the winner wins a set of their choice!   Keyword for online galleries is: PPWORLD1.

The Bloom Brigade has lots of colour inspiration to jumpstart your creativity...

Love you Mom

I realized this week - whoa...it's Mother's Day on Sunday and you have no card for your mom!  So I put something together and thought I'd show you today.  A simple but spring-filled design for my very special Mom.

I combined two Flourishes sets - Spring Blossoms and Motherly Love to make framing elements for the  Flourishes Perfectly Pierced Victorian Oval.  It forms this pretty vignette for her. Coloring is done with Copics, and I paired the card with Color Made Easy Sunflower and Emerald Coast Cardstock and a new line to Flourishes - Carta Bella So Noted designer paper (so pretty!), I'm so glad we're carrying them!

Finishing details are some paper flowers, crystal trinket pins, soft yellow seambinding and some lovely white crochet lace ribbon.

Hope you'll enjoy this weekend with someone you love!  See you soon!

Growing by Giving

Welcome to our first Noon-Time Challenge this week at Flourishes!  Today's challenge....simply use lace on your card or creation!  Playing along with us enters you to win the beautiful sets of the day at Flourishes!

I've done some soft embossing to showcase the lace and the mother and child silhouette in this pretty card.  As you can probably see, I've embossed the circular frame on vellum.

Because vellum has a coating it's easy to use regular waterbased dye ink and still emboss it, it dries slowly so it works perfectly.  I've added the vellum sentiment overtop of the silhouette layer giving you the feeling of a soft shadow underneath.

I've added the beautiful lace background stamp on the Pool Party layer and then added that gorgeous lace from the Flourishes store, as well as some beautiful narrow velvet that fits perfectly through the Picot Edge Circle Spellbinders and the lace, and then finally,  Kaiser Sparklets as accents.

Love and Lace

Welcome to the New Release Sneak Peeks at Flourishes!  We have a pair of stunning sets to show you today that are made for each other, and carry with them the tenderness of a mother and child relationship with the elegance of intricate lace.

I decided to go vintage-shabby chic with this card using both of these new sets, some embossing, ink and some new tools from the Flourishes Store.  I embossed the beautiful lace background onto some Glitz Happy Travels paper with white embossing powder.  Then I took some Ranger Tea Dye Ink and the new Ink Blending Tool from the store and inked and distressed the papers to add depth to the contrast between the paper and embossing.  It's such a fun tool to use too, and it adds the ink so evenly.  The beautiful mother and child image is also embossed, framing it with the elegant circle frame, and then I've added shabby-chic details.

Prima Fall Crystals, Velvet Ribbon, Lace, uneven stitching, a resin rose and the sentiment on our new Tailor Made Classic Die, as well as some Spellbinders accents and heart Edgeabilities finishing.

You will see some fantastic creations with these lovely sets today at the rest of the Senior Design Team....
