Rustic Bouquet with The Greetery

 

A friend of mine just had a major surgery that will mean recovery and physio for a while.  Along with a meal, I’m going to slip in this card to encourage her.  I purchased these beautiful dies and stamps from The Greetery called  Floral Sampler Stamp Set and the coordinating Floral Sampler Dies.  

I was totally inspired by the packaging that Betsy included in the set with this lovely palette of peach, crimson red, yellow and cool green.  So, I used the dies and stamps to create a pretty arrangement to overlay this rich warm grey background using The Greetery’s Herringbone Parquet Die .  A little ink blending on the edges gives it a bit more richness, and then I framed up the floral arrangement with the Hoopla Oval Die  also from The Greetery. 

The sentiment die is from an older retired MFT die that was perfect for the occasion.

Give Me Coffee and No One Gets Hurt

 

Hello there TCP Friends!  I'm popping in today at the end of the month to give you another fun look at some of the March New Release items I had a chance to create with recently.  Today has a warm and cozy drink theme that’s totally sweet.  I have two designs to show you, and I’m starting with this cutie honey bear in a tea mug hoping you Get Well Soon!  It’s using two of the March stamp sets, This Could Be Vodka and the sentiment set called Simply Said.  I really wanted to embrace that honey lemon tea theme so I patterned the mug with elements from the set, and coloured the images with Copics.  

He’s paired with a panel that has been stencilled with honeycomb and Distress Oxide ink (Carved Pumpkin and Scattered Straw) to give you that warm all over glow, and then a retired TCP die gives you the elegant peek through of the panel.  

The background of the card showcases the little bees and the sentiment is accented with a little bee too.  Purple and yellow are a great pairing.  Altogether sweet for a Get Well card.  

Next we have a very fun design for your favourite Coffee Lover.  

My husband happens to be one of those coffee lovers, so I know he’d chuckle at this one.  I’ve used the playful pengins from the TCP set Big Cups.  

These little dudes want every last drop of coffee in the cup!  I’ve placed them all over the panel and coloured them with Copics, then I ran the whole layer through a 3D Embossing Folder for a fun tufted look.  

I’ve canted the angle and added some paper accents to the design to tie in the theme.  They’re always getting into some trouble, and they’re caffeinated now too!

Good Friends Pass the Popcorn

Fans of The Cat’s Pajamas we’ve got so much in store for you this month!  I'm bringing you my first trio of cards this month with all the fun new release images.  They are just right for bringing tons of cheerful celebration.

I’ll kick it off with this fun slimline design using the Good Friends set.  As soon as I saw these binge watching penguins I thought it would be a fun one to mimic the popcorn box onto a background for the card.  All it took was strips of red cardstock.  The sentiment from the set is printed jumbo size and then I’ve added these red couch cuties and their retro TV.

They are coloured with Copics, with a fuzzy rug beneath them.  I added strips of warm grey to the card to help with the feeling of direction and the idea of “passing” the popcorn.  My husband always teases me when we share popcorn, that I don’t get half of my handfuls in my mouth.  

I always think these guys are a hoot.  Perfect for a friend, or movie night invite.

Next it’s Birthday time!  

This fun set is called One Cupcake.  I always think birthday cards should feel like a big celebration, so I often incorporate lots of colour.  This was an especially run one to make because I used some new products for me, sprinkled Lindy’s Magical Powders on embossed watercolour paper with lots of spritzed water to create this vibrant and shimmery background.  Jennifer McGuire showcased this earlier this year and I just had to try out that fun explosion of vibrant colour.  I think it’s the perfect backdrop for this fun cupcake and bunny. 
 

Our birthday bunny is coloured with Copics, accented with white gell pen, and I  added some coordinating balloons from a retired TCP birthday set stamped in matching colour. 
 

I just feel like it’s a party on a card!  

And lastly, for those occasions that need a little extra cheering up....a Get Well design using A Cuppa set. 
 

This feels like the perfect pick-me-up!  Mama bear bringing a cozy honey lemon tea for the sickie.  I’ve coloured and paper pieced the bear with Copics and patterned paper and she’s trimmed out to lay on layers of sponged vellum, and the perfect lemon-themed patterned paper.  

TCP retired dies are used to create that notebook top and the shape of the vellum die cut.  You can see I’ve added some “print” to the tea cup and saucer to coordinate with the pink flowers on the patterned paper with my Copic markers.  It’s little touches like that that really give a card that extra touch. 
 

The sunshiney design is sure to encourage.

Good Friends Pass the Popcorn

12 Days of Christmas Challenge - Everyday Tags

 

Hello Friends!  I’m up today on the TCP Blog with a post for our 12 Days of Crafting Challenge.  My theme is an Everyday Tag Set, and I pulled together some sweet little designs for all types of gift giving.  

I began with a sheet full of digis from The Cat’s Pajamas printed onto a 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of XPress It Blending cardstock.   I coloured them up with Copics in a colour theme that was similar.  

The TCP digis I used are:  Enjoy Every Cuddle, Hang Loose Gnomie, No Peeking, Gnoel, Bounce Back,  Chicken Soup,  No Peeking, and Penguin Sleigh.  

Next,  I picked a colour palette that would work for all the tags with a coral-red, warm brown and a bit of lime green.  To tie all the tags together I added teal blue as the base colour. I die cut all of the tags from heavy white cardstock, and then sponged Distress Oxide onto all the tags, using various stencils on each tag to go with the theme.  

So here is my completed set of 8 Tags!  The colour palette makes them all work together well.  I used similar details on each tag that made creating go quickly - strips of patterned paper, circle dies, patterned paper bows and baker’s twine.  All you would need to do would be to purchase brown or white gift bags and you’d always have a tag and packaging for all these occasions!

This sweet pair of tags that could work for a teacher, or parent.  

Of course you need a couple of tags for Christmas.  

A pair of get well, or coffee gift tags.

And finally a cute little crab that would work for a child, summer theme or all occasion.

12 Days of Christmas Challenge - Everyday Tags

TCP November Release Peeks!

Hello Friends!  

I had some blogger issues this past week and couldn’t show you some of my new TCP Cards for the November release on my blog....so my handy and handsome hubby helped me get back into my blog and YAY!  I’m back!  

I’ve got three cards to show off to you today from the November Release.  It’s full of winter and Christmas fun and all in quick and easy digi format that is affordable and makes it easy to store and alter.  This design celebrates the frosty fun of winter using Baby It’s Cold Outside.  I wanted to keep that cold and frosty feeling in the card with a background of sponged Distress Oxide Ink (Broken China and Mermaid Lagoon), which was spritzed and splashed around the enlarged sentiment.  

I accented the design with the cute polar pals coloured with Copics, die cut snowflakes, some cute red sequins for a pop of colour and a stripedy border.  

Next up are some sweet Get Well Wishes for those friends who are under the weather this season.  Our sweet bunny is all cozied up in this set Bounce Back. The big eared bunny is wrapped up in his favourite patterned paper blank, with a striped scarf cinching him in for the duration of his cold.  I coloured up the image with Copics and added some fun popped up elements in the scarf, tissues and tea.    

He’s got a cute snowflake topper to accent and coordinate with the snowflakes on his blanket and some baker’s twine to match the stripes in his scarf.  

This view gives you a bit of a better peek at the dimenion.  

Lastly I have a clean and simple but sparkly design that showcases my favourite Figure Skater by Day and Deadly Ninja by Night :)  I paired the bunny with a great background with an older TCP die that has swirly elements mimicking his skating twirls.  

I’ve added some holeless sequins, and lots of sparkly spritz which is hard to photograph, but gives it lots of dazzle.  

Lastly a big gingham bow ties in the scarf and black and white theme.

TCP November Release Peeks!

Fall Wellies

 

As I write this we’re having a lovely autumn season.  Today the breeze definitely makes you aware that colder temperatures are coming soon, and the leaves are beginning to put on a colourful show.  So, today I brougth out Power Poppy’s lovely digital set Fall Wellies (this set in polymer is called Feeling Fall - though it is retired).  I had some fun creating a colourful plaid on the Welly boots and paired that up with some fun patterned paper.  

Colouring is done with Copics, and I’ve added a few leaves from the set as embellishments as if they just blew right in.  One of my favourite pass-times in the Fall is to crunch leaves as I walk.  It gives me the most unreasonable joy!

Fall Wellies

Power Poppy’s New Aloe and Oranges

We are so excited to begin the introductions to the NEW Release from Power Poppy with a collection called Fresh Squeezed Scents!  Today we’re beginning with the beautifully unique set Aloe and Oranges!  Isn’t it just dreamy!?  Marcy illustrated such a beauty here!  When she first showed it to us she designed it to run in a vertical fashion, but as I played with it I found it also worked perfectly in this horizontal direction as well.  I printed the image onto Copic XPress it paper in a light grey so it’s about halfway between no-line colouring and a typical printed image.  That’s the transparency of line I like to work with best, and one of the great things about digital images, you can adjust them!

I’ve given it lots of deep rich colouring with Copic Markers and then added detailing in with Prismacolour Pencils.  To give the orange realism and texture I’ve coloured it with a blend of pointillism, and added juicy highlights to the cut orange.  I love the colour contrast between the blue greens of the aloe and the vibrant oranges of the fruit.  Can’t you just smell the citrus fragrance now?  

I’ve added a sentiment stamped with Power Poppy’s Tea in the Garden Stamp Set, and surrounded it with a scalloped edge die and a deep purple layer to really highlight the background and make the images pop.  

Truly a stunning image don’t you think?

Power Poppy’s New Aloe and Oranges

TCP Survivor

Woo Hoo!  It’s Sneaky Peek Week at The Cat’s Pajamas!   You are going to love what’s in store in the next week!   There are 7 fabulous new sets, 4 Cut Ups Dies and 2 Cutables we’ll be showing you over the next week.  

Today we begin with a wonderful set that’s especially close to my heart.  October brings with it Breast Cancer Awareness month which is really important....and what’s special about this new set is that it is also perfect for encouraging others who’ve faced different other types of Cancer too.  

For our family it’s Leukemia.  

Almost eight years ago my husband was diagnosed with Hairy Cell Leukemia.  It sort of rocked our world and yet, really powerfully impacted us in a lot of positive ways too.  I’m proud to say my husband is a survivor and the leukemia is in remission.  So this card is all about him.  

How fabulous is Bun Bun with the ribbon???  The ribbon for Leukemia awareness is orange, so I coloured up ‘da bunny and the ribbon with Copics and trimmed them out with a little white border, popping it up on the Kraft cardstock.  I embossed SURVIVOR onto the cardstock in white.  Then for the background layers I embossed the awesome Dots Die onto the white cardstock and added the Star Rosette Cut Ups behind it, adding the cut out stars from the same diecut that I had cut previously in white.  

On the background you can probably see the cute orange ribbons I stamped in Memento Tangelo ink.  

A few accents with some more of the cut out stars, baker’s twine and a button, with some washi tape to ground it all together.  

Here’s the inside, the sentiment is embossed on one of the awesome new dies you’ll see this week - Fancy Flip Frames CutUps.  It has some awesome pieces in it that will stand alone or pair with the Fancy Flip CutUps.  

Of all the things we learned in Cancer treatment and recovery  - the thing that was most powerful was how standing together, and being in a supportive community impact healing and your attitude toward becoming well.  It totally does make you stronger.  We’re so grateful for people and our Church that stood with us so supportively - and how much we were able to grow our marriage relationship by standing together.  I’m so blessed to walk with a Survivor!  He’s pretty awesome. :)
