You’re Zesty!

Hello!  I’ve got a cutie for today!  When I saw the inspiration prompt from Color Throwdown, I couldn’t get the citrus idea out of my head!  So, I pulled out my new products from Concord & 9th Citrus Bundle to create this cutie!  

I started with the background using the Turnaround Stamp with the color challenge selections, and layered some vellum overtop to soften the effect of the background.  

 

Next I stamped the sentiment in the three colours in an ombre style, softening the transitions with coloured pencil.  This color combo packs a great punch!  Then I made use of the smaller fruit dies in the set to create little oranges, lemons and grapefruit to accent the sentiment.  A bit of white gel pen gives some definition to the rind of the fruit, and the tiny segments of the fruit.  

Accents are just simple enamel dots on the fruit blossoms and a bit of twine to tie it all together.  So adorable!

You’re Zesty!

Primrose from Altenew

Hi there!  Sometimes its helpful to jumpstart the creativity by playing along in a challenge, so today I’m joining Altenew’s Monthly Inspiration Challenge using these wowie zowie bright saturated colours, and a freebie download from Altenew as well (Color Me Happy).  It’s a pretty version of Primrose flowers, and to keep it interesting I printed the image twice and then popped up the more purple toned flowers in the image, which gives it a fuller look, while still allowing it to be more clean and simple.  

 

The sentiment is a lovely encouragement in a nicely paired script and font.  For the background I used a retired Altenew Set, Hibiscus Bouquet to stamp directly on the paper, and then ran it through a coverplate die for texture.  

Then its just s simple sprinkling of enamel dots to accent, and it’s as fun and vibrant as the challenge colours!   Thanks for joining me today!

Diagonal Easel Florals with PinkFresh Studios

Hello!  Today I’m bringing you a design with a neat easel fold that makes your card a little bit extra.  PinkFresh Studios has a challenge this month called Feel The Love.  And even though Valenine’s has passed, you can always make a card that showcases hearts.  I’m playing with PinkFresh’s set Just a Hello, with coordinating stencils and dies.   I embossed the image in gold and then added the colour with stencils.  Above is what it looks like perched on its diagnal easel.   

And here is what it looks like closed.  Because of the circle easel base, you can make raise the heart  to turn 45 degrees.  Here’s the tutorial to how it works.  

Close up you can see I’ve added some vellum “greenery” to accent the heart and a few sequins.  I also accented the heart and cardbase with PinkFresh’s Ornate Medallions Coverplate die. 

I love how it turned ou!  Totally feminine and pretty!

Red Dragon Flyby with MFT

 

Its the year of the Dragon in the Lunar New Year and it’s always fun to break out the rich reds, so today I’m playing along with the Lunar New Year Challenge on Instagram, and MFT’s weekly Sketch Challenge.  

I found a not so scary dragon from MFT called Magical Dragons to colour up with warm Copics in reds and oranges.  

The sketch is a really interesting one with an arched element and a radiating section, so I used embossing to create the radiating rays, which adds to the feeling of layers of different reds.   The detailed background uses a Pinkfresh Studios coverplate die.  

A very fun dragon baby for the next Birthday!

The World Needs Your Spirit with Pinkfresh

Hello!  Today I’m playing along wiht the January 2024 Challenge from Pinkfresh Studios, where you’re invited to choose from all of their 2023 themes for a new design.  I picked the March theme of Layers, with a colour palette of yellow, orange, pink, green and blue.  I began building my layers of clear cardstock, a foiled layer of this beautiful Pinkfresh Pretty Blossom Bundle  and ink blended through the coordinating stencil and cut out with the coordinating die.  

Next,  I took the leftover foil and a solid foil plate to add the reverse of the image in a pretty solid hape.  I think this shape is retired because I got it on a REALLY deep discount.  

I added another foiled/stencilled blossom and some die cut greenery overtop, as well as this lovely sentiment from Pink Fresh’s Indigo Vines stamp set, plus some little gold sequins to add more sparkle!  

It’s a pretty one!
