Secret Garden with Concord & 9th

Hello!  Today I have a delightful little scene for you from Concord & 9th’s newest release.  It’s called Secret Garden Stacks and it pairs with their Pop Out Stacks Base Die.  It is THE most delightful die set to create the most lovely garden!  I had the best time creating with it, and did a little borrowing from my own backyard for the colour palette.  I have the prettiest Indian Spring Mix of Hollyhocks that are having their best year yet, so that inspired the colours.

The die comes with sections of pop ups that you can add details to on four levels.  Base, background, middle ground and foreground.  I love the little touches in a tiny birdbath, a stone wall and pathway, the pretty fence and sign.  There are several more die in the set that I didn’t even use this time.

Amazingly, it all folds down into a A2 size for an envelope, without a lot of bulk.  Everything about it feels sweet and fanciful!   It feels like you can peek into little corners.

Here you an see it folded up.  And here is my own secret garden along the backyard fence with my beautiful hollyhocks.

Season’s Greenings

Hello Power Poppy friends!  We’re back with Day 3 of the second collection of the Quiet Christmas Release.  Today its one of my favourites of the release, Season’s Greenings!  It’s a huge 6 x 6 inch set filled with gardening themes.  They are completely charming and with such fun images, fonts and sentiments.

Including this delightful wreath from the set filled with plant bulbs, ribbons, pots, berries, and foliage, gardening tools and a sweet little bird.

I showcased the pretty images with Copics in vibrant shades.  Then paired it with some great plaid paper, a very sparkly border of snowflakes in the background (dies from TCP).   I think the sparkle gives it some great texture, interest and a beautiful backdrop to the lovely images.

The font on the sentiments is SO cute!  I’ve accented the sentiment strip with some holly and ivy cut from designer paper with some white gel pen on the berries.  I love the vivid colours and how festive it feels!

Now please head on over to this impressive line-up of the Bloom Brigade showing off Season’s Greenings!

Garden of Gratitude

We’re jumping in on Day Three of Power Poppy’s Quite a Christmas Release!  Today we’re introducing Garden of Gratitude.  I’m really digging the garden theme in this set!  It has such charming images.  I started with these garden boots abundantly pouring over with seasonal blossoms.  It’s so charming, and great to colour up.  I’ve brought it to life using Copic Markers and a warm theme with deep burgundy amaryllis, peachy pointsettias and bi-coloured hellebore, as well as rosy-orange berries.

I created a shiny background by squishing my embossing pad through a stencil and heat embossing wiht clear powder.  And then there’s even more glam with the rose-gold glittery paper ribbon along the side.

Truly a beautiful image and you can colour it up any way you’d like!

As accent I added a die cut poinsettia (TCP) and a few peach and gold sequins.

Here are the Copics I used - I apologize for this one being a little fuzzy - we were away and the light was a little dark for my iPhone!  But look and see what a great set this is!

You will be so inspired by the rest of the Bloom Brigade today!

May’s TCP Blog Hop!

We’ve had the best time showcasing all the fun and fab new goodies in our May Sneaky Peek week at The Cat’s Pajamas.  I think there was a little something great in there for everyone!  Today we’re wrapping it all up with a Blog Hop to celebrate.  You should have come from the wonderfully clean and classy creativity of Melissa’s Blog at Inked Regards.

Today I have two cards to show you, one in cool shades and one in warm shades.

This first design uses our new Folk Art Flowers Bundle for that adorable flower filled watering can.  I used my MISTI to makes sure I got a really solid inked impression on the blooms and can, and added a little die cut heart as accent.  I’ve placed it on a scalloped circle using TCP’s  Going Round and Round Cut Ups Die, and then inked up the sentiment with the lovely Scripted Sentiments stamp set.  I found the perfect matching paper in my stash with folksy flowers in these same hues.

Next up is this long-necked cutie patootie!

Seriously, how cute is a giraffe carrying his bag of carrots with a neckerchief?  Adorable!  I used the new  Hay Neighbor and coordinating Farming CutUps Dies for this set.  I gave him some fun colour with Copics and then placed the carrots and his cute little self onto a base cut with TCP’s   Mailbox CutUps Die  and then accented with a sweet puffy white cloud cut with TCP’s Stitched Clouds Die.  For that pretty orange gingham paper, I cut out the bottom edge with TCP’s  Clouds and Balloons CutUps Die to mimic the shape of the spots of the giraffe and then added a little green with TCP’s  Grass Border CutUps Die.

A few enamel dots, some twine and the sentiment pull it all together sweetly.  Here’s a peek at all the NEW MAY goodies I used today.

It’s been so much fun to create for you!  Now you can head on over to see the ever talented Julee Tilman at Poetic Artistry.

If you get lost along the way be sure to pop back to Alma at The Cat’s Pajamas blog.  Thanks so much for your visits and comments this week!  Enjoy your shopping!

Barrow of Birthday Wishes

I hope you’re having a beautiful Easter weekend friends!

I realize that it's really the wrong season for this design, but sometimes you’ve just got to go where the inspiration strikes.  I think this pretty image from Power Poppy Fall Haul Digital is so great with that wheelbarrow bursting with pumpkins and gourds.  Blue and orange make such a nice colour combo too - so I coloured the wheelbarrow with an aged blue look. I wanted to use some woodgrain designer paper, but the woodgrain was just a bit too yellow looking, so I took my W1 copic marker to  get the tone in the paper to more of a warm grey to match the sahara sand paper.

That perfect sentiment is from Power Poppy’s polymer set Go Wild  I curved it a bit to make it work with the oval of the main image, added a couple enamel dots and some twine to match.

Green Veggies

In my green theme this week I thought I’d pop in with a simple little notecard design featuring some of those healthy green vegetables.  Designed with Power Poppy’s set, Farmers Market.  That cute bucket of cauliflower is a quick and easy one to colour, and I love the chalkboard sign to play with too.  This time I first coloured it up with Copics, and then embossed the white Eat your Veggies overtop, it gives it more of a chalkboard feeling.

I found a wide grossgrain ribbon I had in my stash that went well with the green theme and added some texture to the design.  A great big fat green button and twine finish it off.

Inside is a sweet sentiment from the set, perfect for a little note to tuck into someone’s lunch or briefcase.

For some reason I didn’t take a picture of the copics, but the wood crate is E42, E43, E47, BG72, The leaves are G20, G28, G29, and the cauliflower is YG00, G20, and probably some E50 or 51.

Plant Kindness, Gather Love

How are you doing on this Friday in your part of the world?  It has been so cold here again, that we need something really vibrant for a card today.  I pulled out one of the CardMaps Sketches from Becky Fleck and a great digital image from Power Poppy called Plant Kindness.  I’m making a series of cards for my sister in law and one of her requests was for gardening cards.  She has a massive garden and always plants new and interesting vegetables each year, so this image is just perfect for her!

I found a few great sheets of older designer paper that had a really wild print on it and thought it would make a perfect map for my colouring and a backdrop for the image.

Here’s the CardMaps Sketch I based it off of, I just used an oval rather than the circle, so that adjusted all the other panels too.

A little wood veneer heart and some twine finish it off.

Don’t forget that you can enter our Power Poppy Power & Spark Challenge this month to Grab a Map  from one of Becky Fleck’s CardMaps this month.  Enter at the Power Poppy Blog and you could win a $50 shopping spree to the Power Poppy store!  And you can also enter just by commenting on the CardMaps Blog for a $25 shopping spree!  Lots of ways to win this month.

The Cat’s Pajamas July Hop!

Welcome to The Cat’s Pajamas July Release Hop!  We’ve had fun showing off these great newly released stamps, CutUps Dies and CutAble files this that are now available in the store!

Today the whole team is going to show off a few more designs to celebrate, and I get to kick it all off.

I’m kicking it off with the Gnomes from the adorable new set, What’s Up Gnomie?  I randomly stamped one of the gnomes, the flower and the watering can onto white cardstock and then coloured the whole scene up with Copics in a bright blue and yellow colour palette that I thought would be fun.

I added the folded banner from our new Ribbon Banner CutUps die and then finished it off with a few enamel dots.

It’s a jumble of fun!

Here’s the inside of the design, where I made use of the border of the outside where I had some extra space of coloured images.  Below are the Copics I used.

For my second design I made use of the new Flowerpot CutAble file that Alma designed for this release.

I thought the cute and innovative design for a card would go great with more of the gnomie designs.  I grabbed some cardstock that I think turned out to be Stampin’ Up cardstock, (sometimes when it’s scrap pieces it’s hard to tell what’s what).  It doesn’t hold the colouring as well as XPress It Blending cardstock, and tends to leave some streaking, especially with deep colours and lots of blending, but I still thought it was cute and added to that cartoon sort of feel of illustration.  Isn’t that little dude cute, sitting in the shade of the flowers?  The fun little mushrooms are another perfect touch.  I made use of the cutting files that Alma always provides for the sets that you’ll want to check out too!

The top panel of the card with the grass pulls out from the pot so you have a place to write a sweet little note to your gnomies.  I used TCP’s Grass CutUps die for the patterned paper grass and then added some ribbon and used a plaid embossing folder for the bottom of the flower pot.

Alma made a video to demonstrate the Flowerpot CutAble that you can check out too.

Here’s a peek at all the wonderful new sets and die....

The Cozy Gardener

I’m back with another design for this month’s Copy A Bloom Challenge from Power Poppy.   And today I’m throwing in a bit more of a "Christmas in July" theme, with a botanical twist.

When Marcy illustrated the lovely Fully Stocked set she included a stocking filled up to the brim with bits and bobs of doodads that every gardener would love.  It’s so charming! When I saw Katie Sim’s warm and inviting creation with it I knew I’d want to someday CASE it.  Today was the perfect opportunity for an Ode to Ms. Katie.

Stamped onto XPress it Blending with Memento Gray Flannel ink, I coloured it up with Copics with that same warm cozy palette as Katie did.  I kept the same basic design with the woodgrain background, and the patterned paper, but changed up the base colour, used more patterned paper, added a burlap layer to frame up the stocking and add to the earthy feel, added gold Krylon pen to edge my layers, much like Katie often does and then used a different ribbon/button/twine combination.  Katie’s bows are always perfection, and mine doesn’t even come close!

Here’s Katie’s gorgeous card first published here.

A bit more close up of the colouring.  Come on in and join us with the Copy a Bloomie Challenge, enter your creation and you could win a $50 Shopping Spree to Power Poppy!

Take a peek at what the rest of the Bloom Brigade playing along has to show off today, I know you’ll be delighted!
