Stampbook Saturday - Christine

Today I get to be the hostess at the There She Goes Blog on Stampbook Saturday :)  It's a chance for the TSG girls to be inspired by a card creation and put that into a scrapbook page.

I love the There She Goes Believe in You set and I went back in the TSG Gallery and found this little beauty by Lisa Henke (you can see it on the TSG Blog if you're interested - its' really cute!)

Well, I took her inspiration from the card and put it into a 12 x 12 Scrapbook page of our middle Son 8 years ago when he started Pre-School.  He was so little then, so cute, so blonde!   (You can click on any of these pictures if you like to see them larger :)

As you can see I kept some of the same colors and themes and basic layout.

One fun detail I'll show you is the little pull-tab where the journalling is...  sorry for the glare, it's so hard to get the right light without the camera picking up the gloss of the pictures.

You can pull it out to read, and push it back in to hide it too :)

When he saw the page he was like "MUM I had a mushroom cut?!"  I said "OH but you were SO cute!"

I cut the letters out of a SU Sizzix Strip Typeset alpha I think?  And glued them on with a little Quickie Glue pen.

I used my note book edge punch, some cute twine and mini clips as accents, as well as the Hexagon Nestabilites.

Thanks for stopping by today...hopefully you're inspired to pull out some photos and put together a page or two.  I know this set is fantastic for school pages!

Who Knew? Cards and Scrapbook Pages!

I can probably count on one hand the number of times I've created a Scrapbook page in the last year.  Like many of you, that's how I got my start in papercrafting...but stamping just held my heart, and my scrapbooks have taken a back-seat.  But today I get to combine both loves in a card and scrapbook page inspired by the card, in the Stampbook Saturday post at There She Goes.

Our daughter turned fourteen in October and she got all dolled up on her Birthday for school, so that morning I took some pictures of she and her brothers.  She has this lovely purple dress, and we have a deep brown leather couch and green pillows so I knew that was where I wanted to head when it all started.   I always take my color cues from the pictures.   Which is fun because then you can get some interesting new color combos!

I began with the sweet card and the new ADORABLE set Wrapped in Joy,  and colored up this cutie to look a little bit like our daughter.  The purple dress on the stamp even has little ruffles like my daughter's dress too.  I used some pretty papers by SU! with the new In Colors (Pear Pizzazz and Concord Crush).  The same Beaded Nestability I used for the main focal shape, I used for the ruffles in the layers of the design.

Then for the page I used a similar theme and feel...

The beaded nestability ruffles, the row of rose blossoms and the cute little girl as accent.

So there you have it....a card and a scrapbook page inspired by it!  That was fun!  Hopefully you can take some inspiration from your cards to scrapbook pages, or vice versa!  It's a great way to jump start your creativity!

Pretty Packaging - A Creative Photo Card

Hello everyone!  Hope you're enjoying this new week.  We have unseasonably warm temperatures right now...but we saw a bunny tonight sporting all-white fur...so we're thinking that snow won't be too far away. (sob!)

Speaking of those icy temperatures coming.  I have a pretty Stair Stepper Card to show you that also doubles as a great photo card.  This project was designed by my SU Demo Susan, so I can't take credit for the design, just the stamping (wink!)

What I really like about this project is that it combines a number of techniques, the Stair Step fold, the mirror image technique and a picture, so it would be perfect for those special people that you want to send a special Christmas picture to.  Now ideally it would be a cozy outdoor picture in the snow (didn't have any snow), or in front of the fire place or the Christmas Tree (not up yet)....so you'll just have to do with this picture of my trio on the first day of school this year.

Here's a closer picture of the mirroring.  We used acetate to do the double image. And the blue sponging leaving the middle unsponged really gives it a lovely glow.

And the great news, it still fits in an A2 envelope!

Have a great day!  See you tomorrow!

Recipe:  Stamps:  Lovely as a Tree, Winter Post, Snowflakes set? ;  Ink:  Basic Black, Bordering Blue;  Paper:  Bordering Blue, Basic Black, Whisper White;  Accessories:  Scorer, Sponge, Acetate, Snowflake Punch, Blossom Punch, silver brad

First Mommy's Day

I mentioned last week that I wanted to show you what I made for my sister-in-law's first Mother's Day present. I'll never forget my first Mother's Day as a mom. It was full of special moments. I remember the year before our daughter was born. We were wondering if we'd have a baby, only to get pregnant and then lose our first pregnancy. It was heartbreaking (I'm sure many of you know this first hand). So to finally have our daughter and on that 2nd Sunday in May when all the mothers stand up at church and take home a flower honoring moms, I just felt so grateful and full of joy.

I know for my sister-in-law seeing this day come to reality is special, and I wanted to commemerate that for her. I'm not much of a scrapbooker anymore, but I've been collecting pictures I've taken of my niece over the past 10 weeks to use for this very thing. Wow has she grown!

So I photo-edited all the pictures into black and white, softened all the edges in my editing software, and just made a sweet simple accordian mini album on paper coasters. This way she can put it on her dresser or desk and be reminded of the sweetness of her girl.

Here is the album cover...Bella Toile background and Lots of Tags Sizzlit frame, I just handwrote on the cover. The ribbon looks wonky here, but it really was straight! I think I must have pulled it when I set it down for the photo. This next shot is a bit dark, but you get the feel for the spread of the album...

Here is the inside....simple accents like eyelet borders, felt flowers, a little ribbon and Lovely Letters to spell out Mommy. I hinged each section with a scored section of Basic Gray cardstock and ribbon. I kept it very simple to highlight the pictures not the book.

I loved it and thought it was a sweet gift, but to see my sister in law when she opened it, she burst into tears. I know it meant a lot to her. Sometimes it's just the simple gifts from the heart that mean so much. Isn't this little sweetheart beautiful? Oh we adore her.

This is Adeline yawning :) and their happy little family at Easter (my brother is the happy Daddy).

Come on back tomorrow (Wednesday) ...it begins new release week peeks from Flourishes! I'm so excited!
