TCP March Release Dragons...and Laundry!

 

Hi There!  March has arrived and that means a new release from The Cat’s Pajamas!  And today I’m bringing you two cards created with new products!  My first design happens to contain one of my all time favourite TCP images from the set Bunnies in Flight.  I just think a Viking Bunny riding a dragon is a hoot!  

I really had fun incorporating clear cardstock with this design to showcase the feeling of being suspended in mid-flight. 

After colouring the bunny and dragon with Copics, I die cut some hill dies, as well as some clouds from a retired TCP die.  I made a small 4 1/4 x 4 1/4 inside card with the hills that opens up for writing in, but then I layered the clouds and bunny inside and outside of the acetate cardstock.  

Here you can see that even closed, it looks like he’s flying over the snow dusted hills (colored pencil lightly coloured), high up in the clouds!  

Let the adventures begin!  It was a fun card to put together.  

Next up is a sweet design that’s perfect for the laundry room, or even a welcome baby card. 

This cutie uses the new digi Shine On.  I thought it would be adorable to create a frame around this punny saying with elements from the set.  So, I arranged it on my computer and then printed it out on Copic XPress It Blending paper, slightly lightening the transluscence so that it would have a softer effect for the pastel colours I wanted to use.  

Colouring is done with Copics, with a few white gel pen accents, and then the centre of the frame is fussy cut out to create a window for the sentiment.  Placed on coordinating plaid paper, it has a fresh Spring cleaning appeal.  See how the washing machine is 1/2 full of H20?!  

A few enamel dots add some fun 3D accents.

TCP March Release Dragons...and Laundry!

Diagonal Easel Florals with PinkFresh Studios

Hello!  Today I’m bringing you a design with a neat easel fold that makes your card a little bit extra.  PinkFresh Studios has a challenge this month called Feel The Love.  And even though Valenine’s has passed, you can always make a card that showcases hearts.  I’m playing with PinkFresh’s set Just a Hello, with coordinating stencils and dies.   I embossed the image in gold and then added the colour with stencils.  Above is what it looks like perched on its diagnal easel.   

And here is what it looks like closed.  Because of the circle easel base, you can make raise the heart  to turn 45 degrees.  Here’s the tutorial to how it works.  

Close up you can see I’ve added some vellum “greenery” to accent the heart and a few sequins.  I also accented the heart and cardbase with PinkFresh’s Ornate Medallions Coverplate die. 

I love how it turned ou!  Totally feminine and pretty!

Sunset Trip with Santa and Concord & 9th

Hello!  I’ve got a fun Christmas Card today!  It’s another design with Concord & 9th’s amazing Over the Rooftops Bundle.  Today I’ve used the interactive elements to the card design to create a little Christmas street.  The colour palette is a fun one with soft corals and purples from Concord & 9th for all the houses and design elements.  Wouldn’t this be a fun street to live on?!

Starting off we have a daytime scene with blue skies and a quiet snowy street.  Look at those tiny wreaths and bows!  I love the miniature scale with such amazing detail.  

But then, as you turn the circle you get a peek at Santa and his reindeer taking off into the sunset.  They’ve gotta get a jump on the deliveries!  For this part of the scene I ink blended corals and purples to give that sleepy sunset view.  Even the lead reindeer has a festive bow!

Sunset Trip with Santa and Concord & 9th

I have the sweetest sunset to show off today!  These tiny plane windows from Concord and 9th and the Plane Amazing bundle are SO CUTE!.  The fact that you can raise or lower the shades on these windows is the most innovative thing!  Today, I decided to use a fun sunset palette to create a mini-slimline design that’s pretty adorable.  

Here you can see all the shades raised.  I used the dies and elements to create cloudy scenes in each little window using masks to ink blend each little set of clouds.  Little sun-kissed pink waves border each window scene, and then I used parts of the set to create a hill and sun setting behind the tropical island somewhere exotic.  

The construction of the design is actually quite straightforward with the awesome dies in the set. 

A few little enamel elements add the accents.  I love the colour combination!  It was a fun one to work with!  Thanks for adventuring with me.  Tomorrow I have a really fun CAS design based off of this card that’s a fun surprise!

Sunset from the Plane with C & 9th

My Girl’s Bookstore

From the time our daughter was tiny she had a love for books.  As a baby I’d sit her down with little board books and she’s spend lots of time paging through them (upside down!).  Now she’s an adult and we swap books back and forth all the time and talk books, covers, plots and favourite authors regularly.  When she saw some of the cute things I was creating with Concord & 9th’s adorable Pop-Up Shoppes she asked if I’d create a bookstore for her she could frame on her display wall.  It was such a fun assignment!  

I created this precious spot with Concord & 9th’s new Window Shope Pop-Up Base Dies and the Book Shoppe Bundle, along with the bricks from Flower Shoppe Stamp Set to create this dreamy little book shop scene.  

I coordinated the colours to what she has in her room and had a blast making all the little details for this design!  The bookstore window is lined with clear acetate, and the door is lined with vellum so those windows have the feel of real glass.  

Little touches of gold cardstock accent the book spines (how cute!), the lamp stand, door hardware and plant pots inside and out front.  It adds just the right touch of shine.  

I added some fun details to the snake plants with copic markers so they look more realistic, and that adorable bike is ready to take home a stack of books in the basket.  It has the tiniest details that are perfection!  

I’m headed to the bookstore today to pick up a newly released book from one of my favourite authors!  Sigh bookstores!  They make my heart happy.

TCP New Release: Hey Gillfriend!

It’s Sneaky Peek Week at The Cat’s Pajamas!  This week we’re going to show off SO many fabulous stamps, dies and accessories, so I hope you’ve got your seatbelt on, cause we’ll be inspiring you with great stampy stuff all week long!

We’re kicking it all off with Hey Gillfriend and Porthole CutUps Dies!  I happen to love any beachy, water or ocean themed sets, and this one packs a punch!  I had a blast creating an interactive design that’s all beauty in the front and party on the inside.

On the front of the card, I created a fun underwater background using my Copic Refills on some glossy paper, allowing the colours to blend and move with the help of some drops of blender solution.  It makes such a cool effect!  Over top I added the porthole using just the outer portion of the new die and place the pretty little mermaid on the inside.  She’s coloured up with Copic markers (colours at the end of this post), and then accented with a new set of Blue Moon holeless sequins in the store. 

Now for some fun!  On the inside of the card I created an interactive scene using another of the new dies TCP will be releasing this week.  It’s called Spiral Popup, and I used it to create “seaweed” that pops up when you open the card.  I placed different little creatures from the set onto the seaweed, swimming around.  Because of the springy action of the spiral they move around when you open the card too.  It’s so cute!  

On the sea floor I’ve added some more seaweed, anemones, shells from a new By the Sea shaker confetti mix in the store, and another curly haired mermaid.  A few stamped white bubbles make it look really underwater.  Scroll through for more pictures of the inside.  

I really had fun playing around with this fun set and die!  It’s a fantastic trio of stampy goodness!
