Embellish This!

Today ushers in a new month long challenge at Power Poppy!  Kathy’s our host and she’s challenging us to Embellish This!  Think buttons, pearls, rhinestones, ribbon, brads....the possibilities and the list of embellishments you could use are endless!

I brought out the lovely new set Cozy Cupfuls because I really wanted to colour up this little cupful of Christmas tree.  Isn’t it the sweetest?  As as I was thinking about what colour I wanted to use and what embellishments I had, I thought about these pretty sequins I had, and that’s how the colours of the card were born!

Stamped on XPres It Blending cardstock, coloured with Copics and then the inside of the die was sponged with Rich Razzleberry ink.

I decided to do a tufted look by scoring diagonal lines and then adding the sequins in the meeting points for my embellishing.  I added some sparkly ribbon to finish off the design.  That’s one of the best things about Christmas....all the sparkle!

Such a festive little tree!  Here’s the Copics I used below.

Here’s the gang playing along in the Embellish This challenge....join in and you could win Power Poppy goodies!  Enter your creation this month at the Power Poppy Blog...

A-Maize-ing

Today being a day of the month that ends in 5 means Marcy’s got a new digi image at Power Poppy!

Today she’s introducing Maize for Days which is a gorgeous autumn themed image of a bundle of indian corn gathered together with bittersweet and a lovely ribbon.  She’s also added 3 really fun sentiments to make this image work for a number of occasions.  As we bantered back and forth onthe Bloom Brigade, gushing about how much we loved the new digi, Ally Cope said it was a-maize-ing and this little sentiment I used today was born :)  I love that about Marcy, she’s always so upbeat and wants to capture the fun and goodness in the everyday.

I printed the digi quite large so that it would almost take over this 4 x 5 1/4 inch piece of XPress It Blending card stock.  Then I cut it a bit off-center and added the sentiment on opposite side to balance the design.  I kept the details really simple so that the image would shine.

I hope that YOU have an A-Maize-ing day today too :)

Pop on over to see what A-Maize-ing things Cheryl and Stacy have today too!

Sunflower Jar

I remember when these sweet little mason jars first came out from PaperTrey Ink, I thought they had such a homey feel.  I love the whole Friendship Jar series so I did one today with an autumn theme.  How cute is a little picket fence in a jar with sunflowers?  I paired it with the Mojo Sketch this week and a rustic feel in the papers.

As you can see I used part of the sketch to create some of my own picket fencing using my Silhouette machine on the horizontal layer.

The sentiment on the jar tag is embossed in white and I also stamped a background sunflower on the little yellow circle sentiment to tie it in.  I feel like it’s nice and warm and cheerful, the perfect tone to set on a card!

Hope it’s sunny inside and out in your neck of the woods today :)

Little Joy Wreath

Well, we had a little dusting of snow yesterday.  It’s not even all that early for my great white north :), but it didn’t stick around long, and turned to rain a few hours later.  Though, I’m sure those frosty flakes that stay won’t be too many weeks into the future.  With that snow theme in mind, I thought I’d play with another design for the Anything Goes Challenge at The Cat’s Pajamas this week.

The sweet little stamps are from an older TCP set called J*lly H*liday, it’s since retired, but I just had to have some sweet little focal point for these pretty inset snowflakes.  They are created with TCP’s Double Snowflake CutUps dies.  It’s one of my favourite ways to use them.  Because they are such a detailed die, you can cut them in your cardstock and then leave them inset to give you a beautiful effect.  What’s great about a die like this is that you could push out some of the snowflake pieces, or leave as is, there are so many different possibilities.

The little wreath is coloured twice and the top layer popped up for a wee bit of definition.

I stamped the snowflake from the set in red on the kraft layer and then brushed some vanilla craft ink onto the edges to give it that swirly snow effect.

And then to frame out the snowflake “tag”, I used TCP’s Holiday Toppers CutUps as well.  A little bit of twine finishes the tag off.

We hope you can join us in the challenge!  Here are the details:

  • Every other Tuesday a new challenge will be posted on The Cat’s Pajamas blog as well as on our Facebook page.
  • If you want to play along you just upload your design to The Cat’s Pajamas blog page using the InLinkz button below.
  • You must have your project posted by the Monday, 11:55 EDT before the next challenge to be eligible to win the Cat Cash.
  • Cards and projects are not required to use a Cat’s Pajamas Stamp or CutUps die but if you do the Cat Cash amount increases.
  • On the following TCP Tuesday, the week’s winner will be chosen from the previous challenge and will receive a Cat Cash Voucher for $10 or $15 if a TCP product is used.
Thanks for popping by today!

Birthday Bloom Beauties

Awhile ago I mentioned on the blog that I found some images I had coloured up a long time ago that I had forgotten about.  (oops)  Today I put another one of those images into a sweet little birthday design.  This is with Our Daily Bread Designs’ Grow in Grace set.  I’m pretty sure it’s retired because I couldn’t find it anywhere on their site.  I think the blooms are really pretty and unique.  Way back when I coloured it up, I had written on the side in pencil that I thought it would go with some MME papers called Cambridge Court.  Luckily, all these months later I still had some of those papers, and then I put a vellum banner in the design with some sewing to hold it all together.

Added a little birthday sentiment, and some twine and it’s another card for the birthday stash!

Happy Monday everyone.
