Sunflower Jar

I remember when these sweet little mason jars first came out from PaperTrey Ink, I thought they had such a homey feel.  I love the whole Friendship Jar series so I did one today with an autumn theme.  How cute is a little picket fence in a jar with sunflowers?  I paired it with the Mojo Sketch this week and a rustic feel in the papers.  

As you can see I used part of the sketch to create some of my own picket fencing using my Silhouette machine on the horizontal layer.  

The sentiment on the jar tag is embossed in white and I also stamped a background sunflower on the little yellow circle sentiment to tie it in.  I feel like it’s nice and warm and cheerful, the perfect tone to set on a card!

Sunflower Jar

Super Birthday

Another creation in my 30 Day Coloring Challenge!  This one is in honour of my little nephew.  He is a bundle-of-life-and-entertainment dude.  His favourite colour is orange, so I knew that this superguy needed to have some orange on him.  This is another card for his mama, my sis-in-law, for some fun kid BD cards.  

I did a mix of two MFT sets  - You’re Super and Super Boy, pairing it with some fun Simple Stories - So Rad designer paper and this week’s Mojo Monday sketch.  I took the sketch pretty literally with the addition of the fun stars from The Cat’s Pajamas.  

He’s sure cute isn’t he?  I really love these super kids!

Super Birthday

The Fish and the Kitty, can they be Friends?

Hello again friends, if you’re looking for my Power Poppy post just scroll down :)

There are a fabulous round of new images being released today at A Day for Daisies....and I’m telling you they are SO CUTE!

Today I’m working with Kitten and One Fish....and I think its so adorable!  Do you think they are going to be friends?  They’re just so cute looking at each other, even if the kitty might try to eat him shortly :)  I coloured up the image with Copics (see below) and then trimmed out the image with a bit of a border, and then pulled it all together with this fun layout from Mojo Monday.  

Gah!  So cute!  It was really fun to give that fur some texture with some flicking strokes of my markers.  Sorry for the yucky picture below of the markers...I was losing my light for the day and just didn’t have the gumption to go and put it under my OTT lights.

The Fish and the Kitty, can they be Friends?

Poppy Birthday

I’m ready for something cheerful after a few snowy cloudy days, how about you?  After I finished my “chores” today I sat down to play a little with the Mojo Monday sketch and some Verve.  This set is called Poppy Birthday and I really love the sketchy doodly feel to the blossoms.  I also really love orange and fuchsia together for some bright cheerfulness so that’s where all this went.    The blossoms are stamped and coloured with Copics (see below for colours), and then cut out.  I created a circular frame with a TCP Cut Ups die and then plugged it all into the sketch with some random designer paper I had in my stash.  

I’ve looped some baker’s twine behind the flowers and stamped the background in Memento ink.  

Well, my last couple of weeks have caught up with me.  I’ve had a cold for a week, my daughter had the stomach flu yesterday, my husband has been gone for 8 days (coming home today!), and that’s left me as one tired girl.  I’m headed for a nap!  Hopefully this has cheered you up today!

Poppy Birthday

Amazing Poppy Birthday

Today was a GREAT mail day!  I ordered a couple of sets recently and 2 packages came today.  One is super top secret....(can’t wait to show you!), and the other package was a couple of sets from Verve.  I think the Poppy Birthday set is gorgeous and I couldn’t wait to get it!  So, I unwrapped it and stamped it right away!  

I love the multiple possibilities of this set, and I knew right away I wanted to start by stamping the outline of the poppies and then colouring them with Copics and layering them, using this week’s Mojo Sketch.  

The papers are Echo Park Style Essentials, and I used a Spellbinders Border die for the scallops and a little organdy ribbon.  Such a pretty font too don’t you think?

Amazing Poppy Birthday

Baby Boy Boat

The other day a friend of mine bought a number of cards from me and said, “Christine, you need more baby cards!”  It’s true, all my immediate friends are “done” having kids and it’s only the girls I’ve mentored over the years that are now having kids, so it’s not the first card I think of making :)  I thought I’d remedy that tonight, with at least one card.  I played with the Mojo Sketch of the week and a couple of Verve sets, To the Moon and Text Objects.   Great sketch isn’t it?  I thougth it would work with this nautical theme.  

The papers are Fancy Pants - Down by the Shore, and I’ve created a wavy border, some fishtale banner flags, adding some twine and enamel dots.  Sweet and simple!

Baby Boy Boat

Dashing Through the Snow

We are definitely dashing through the snow here!  Woweee did we get a lot of snow the other day!   Cotton candy snow fell all day and night on Monday adding to the snow we already had giving us a good foot of new snow.  Our older son has started his first job this year, shovelling snow for our neighbour.  I think he’s going to get his money’s worth of work this winter.

There She Goes has a Winter Fun Challenge this week…and since it’s been eons since I’ve played in a TSG Challenge, and there’s always room for more Christmas designs….here’s my creation:

Here’s the little pup from TSG’s adorable Snowy Days set.  Torico’s little pups always make me smile. This little guy is ready for gift giving fun.  I coloured him up with Copics to match the Carta Bella - So this is Christmas DP.  I used this week’s Mojo Sketch, so I have actually done two challenges!  Amazing!  

You know, as I’m looking at this photo the sentiment looks crooked, on the card it actually isn’t, I think it’s just the angles of the shots, or maybe I have to take a second look and re-adjust it!  Some snowflake embossing, a tucked snowflake under the ribbon and viola!
