Every Happiness Blog Hop with Simon Says Stamp

Well, Hi friends!

Today I’m delighted to be joining the Simon Says Stamp Friday Blog Hop for the Every Happiness July Release!  There are so many delightful elements to this release that I think you’ll enjoy.  Today I’m showcasing the wonderful school themed set with coordinating dies called  Best Teacher Ever .

Our daughter is a teacher and we’re so proud of her.  Every day she brings creativity, intentionality and joy to her classroom.  So, this set has a special place in my heart.  I know how significant our teachers are, and how much they need to hear they are valued and appreciated.  This design tries to bring an elegant feel to a teacher appreciation by using the sentiment as a fun focal point.

To create the beautiful and vibrant pattern I used my beloved Willowweave die and stencil from Simon Says Stamp.  The stencil creates the vibrant red layer and the willowweave die addes the aqua blue texture.  It’s always a show stopper!  I added in stars from the Best Teacher Ever set to the center of each opening to tie it into the teacher theme.

Another fun stamped feature is the aqua dividing line between layers where I stamped the ruler element from the set, and added in the sub-sentiment “You rule!”  Totally a cute little teacher touch.

I think it’s a fun and classy way to tell a teacher you appreciate them any time of the year.

Don’t miss our not-yet-released Simon Says Stamp Golden Sunflower 3x4 stamp (pictured above) which is automatically added to your cart that contains any purchase from our exclusive Every Happiness collection! This gift with purchase will expire 7/26 at 11:59 pm EDT or while supplies last.

Teachers Are Amazing

Today is the last day of school for kids in our area, I know in the US school goes till the end of May, but int Canada, we most often go until late June.  Our daughter is a teacher, and I know she’s been counting the days as much as the kids have.  This cute set is a retired one from MFT that I had in my Colouring Catch Up basket, so it made for an easy card.  She’s coloured up with Copics, and I added some texture to her jean skirt with Copic Blender solution and a canvas background stamp, as well as hand drawn glasses and polka dots for her top.

The design has a bit of a mathmatical theme with the background images on the coral layer, and the cute Positively Cut Card Front Die from Concord & 9th.  Easy to use one of the “plusses” for an accent.

I used that same Canvas background on the sentiment layer and embossed the sentiment in white.  I think any teacher would love to hear words like this!

Apples of Appreciation

I think with the changes we’ve all had to face in our world in the last six weeks, it helps you notice and appreciate others in a renewed way.  Because our daughter is a teacher and has had to move to on-line teaching I see the multitude of extra learning, preparation, tech support and improvising she’s had to do to deliver education to kids at home.  It’s a sometimes super-human task for a teacher who’s heart is for face-to-face teaching to now creatively engage kids online and my hat goes off to them!

We have a lot of friends who are teachers.  So, over a few weeks I created cards for many of them to encourage them in what they are doing, knowing it’s not easy.  Sometimes it just takes a word of encouragement to dig it deeper or feel noticed.

I pulled out two sets from My Favorite Things,  Lessons in Love  and MFT Favorite Teacher and stamped a bunch of male and female teachers, colouring them all up to look like all our friends who are teaching right now.

We have two sets that are husbands and wives, and I did a little altering where appropriate in some glasses and facial hair, and colours I thought they might be wearing.  For the background of each card I used an old MFT stencil with the mixed up alphabet on it, sponging with Distress Ink.

My lady teachers are wearing some denim skirts (complete with denim pattern lift from a pair of my husband’s old jeans and some Copic Blender Solution, and I’ve framed them with MFT’s Stitched Rectangle Scalloped Frame Die-namics.

It was fun to alter the faces a bit for some of them.  The sentiment is embossed and I added a little apple for the teacher in different spots on each card.

I have to say, I heard back from the teachers and each one of them said how meaningful it was, some even saying it made the last month worth it.  The power of encouragement is real friends!  Hopefully you can encourage someone today!
