Staying in my Spring theme this month, I’m bringing you a very springlike floral design with this lovely forced hyacinth from Power Poppy. This time I’ve used a digi - Hyacinth Bulb in Glass Digital Stamp, printing it onto XPress It Blending cardstock in a larger size so it would fill the panel. Hyacinth come in so many beautiful variations, which is what makes them so fun to colour. This time I did a varigated bluey-purple (Copic B60, B63, B66). Have you ever forced a hyacinth? I think it would be fun to do, especially to see those little roots shoot down into the water.
A few Springs ago our family went to Vancouver Island and I convinced my guys to take me to Butchart Gardens in Victoria. It’s world renowed for the curated gardens; 55 acres, with 5 uniquely themed gardens. Victoria is a temperate rainforest climate, so it’s very different from what we have here in Alberta, and the growing season is very different too. Because we were there in the early Spring, it was hyacinth season and they had massive flowerbeds filled with hyacinths. It was so fragrant that I found it almost overpowering.
This photo was just one of the hyacinth flower beds. They do such a gorgeous job with all of their plantings and gardens, it’s quite spectactular. The whole day was such a life-giving experience for me, and I even think the boys enjoyed it too.
To accent my paper versioni of the hyacinth, I added some glittery washi tape (from some of Marcy’s stamp packaging she uses on her orders), and some enamel dots and gems. That along with the simple zigzag stitching and the bold papers complete it. The sentiment is from another Power Poppy set, Vibrant Thanks.
Happy Monday friends, thanks for your visit!

Vibrant and gorgeous and beautifully designed and colored! A wonderful promise of spring. We've been to Buchart twice -- once in summer and once in early fall. It's gorgeously breathtaking any time of year!
so pretty, like how you even colored the water! Great design, lovely touch of spring!
Love your flowers, your coloring, and your color choices.
What a gorgeous card, Christine, and I love the vibrant color you achieved for your hyacinth! I love the Dp and layout. And what an amazing visit to such gorgeous gardens! It's amazing how the growing season is so different, but what joy to see their glorious flowerbeds!! Hugs!
