Hostess Set

Do you have any special Christmas parties or gatherings you’re headed to in the next weeks?  Saturday night we were invited to the Christmas party of one of the small groups in our Church, so I thought I would make a boxed set of cards as a Hostess Gift for them.  It was a lovely party with good company and delicious food and celebration.

I chose not to go the Christmas route for the style of cards I’d be making, and to do cards that celebrated the season coming....spring!  So, the boxed contained four different cards with spring themed flowers and colours.  This first card is made with Power Poppy’s set Daffodils.  I chose a pretty pastel palette and coloured with Copics and added some embossing paste through a Tim Holtz Stencil (Gothic) to give it some elegance.  I kept all the sentiments on the cards quite general so they could be used for many different occasions.

Card number two uses Power Poppy’s set Dynamic Duos:  Peonies and Tulips, and some purple plaid dp (MFT), enamel dots, a touch of lace and twine and a bit of a windowed design.

Next up is the peonies from Dynamic Duos:  Peonies and Tulips in some creamy yellows.  This one also showcases some crochet lace and banners.

Finally it’s some gerbera daisies and Power Poppy’s Dynamic Duos:  Glads and Gerberas.  I think this one might be my favourite, thought I’m not totally sure why, it might be the coral colours or the sewing.  Simply accented with bakers twine.

And now for a quick look at the box.

I just made a simple A2 box stamping the bouquet from Countryside Bouquet Deluxe on the top.  I also used the smaller flowers from the stamp set to stamp as a background on the box top as well and then tied it all together with some seam binding and a trio of enamel dots.

What do you like to give as hostess gifts?    Hope you’re having a splendid start to the week.  Will catch up with you again soon!

I'm with you, although the other cards are beautiful, the daisy card is my favorite.

Oh, Christine, what a beautiful gift! Bet these were a huge hit. So lovely to see all these flowers this time of year. I'm about Christmas carded out! I love giving hostess gifts. What I give depends upon the hosts and how much notice I have. It will frequently be some kind of food presented in a pretty basket with a nice tea towel. Not too extravagant, but pretty.

Oh, Christine, these cards are gorgeous, and I also love the gift box for them! I so love each card with the different layout and design, and what's not to love about Marcy's amazing images? I have to say that I lean towards the last card because I love the warmth of the coral and the plaid, but I love them all!! I'm not surprised that your hostess was delighted. Sounds like a wonderful evening! I love to give card sets for a hostess gift, and most people love them. I was at a Christmas Tea on Saturday, and several of my friends who have been recipients only commented that they found the cards hard to part with! I'm sure your hostess may feel the same with these because they are so beautiful! I am thinking of an idea to add a "stay home" aspect of my gift with a frame for them to keep them where they wish (sort of like when I did the monthly calendars back in the day). Just a thought for now.... Thanks for sharing, my friend! Hugs!

WOW they are all so gorgeous! You are one very talented lady! I love to give my handmade cards as gifts. . . I am on my 3rd year of designing, making and mailing a card to each lady in my church for their birthday, I make any where from 35-40 cards a year, each year is a different theme, or project, 1st year it was a card with lots of flowers on them, last year the cards had to be a colored image with my Copic markers (made me color every month) and this year is a decorated pillow box with a card inside, loads of fun to coordinate the cards to the persons personality, plus the ladies at church are anxious now for their surprise to arrive, so wonderful to get something gorgeous in the mail, as many don't mail stuff any more.
I shall start following visiting your blog to see your stunning creations, have a wonderful day!
