Give Me a Ring

How about another fun card from this month's Flourishes New Releases?   I can tell by people's response that you really love this cute set Call Me.  :)  I do too.  I think the vintage phones are SO fun.  I have to tell you, I had the best little giggle as I was making this card.  As I was stamping out the sentiment I thought, "ha, this would be a funny card from a girl to a guy - like she's demanding a proposal!"  So everytime I look at it that cracks me up!

The shape is first cut with the Call Me set's Silhouette Cut file on Flourishes Classic Ivory card stock, then stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, and coloured up with Copics.  A telephone book should always be yellow don't you think?  They delivered the yellow pages the other day and I realized that it's been years since the last time I looked up a phone number in a paper phone book.

I've paired it up with one of my all time paper packs from MME - Sunshine.  I love the blend of yellow, black, cream and soft blues.  I have barely anything left from this pack.

Behind the image I used our Flourishes Perfectly Pierced Classic Window Die, some wood buttons, iridescent ribbon, and gold cording, and all placed on Flourishes Classic Kraft card stock.  And there you have it!

Glamour Girls!

Hello Flourishes Fans!  We have a special treat for you today because we are kicking off the festivities for Day 1 of our Flourishes‘ Sneak Peeks for May and we have teamed up with the Friends of Flourishes Team to play along with the Timeless Tuesday Challenge this week. Want a little peek at the set we’ll be showcasing today?

Our Glamour Girls stamp set, illustrated by Lauren Pope, is a fabulous collection of lovely ladies and some classic "girl talk" sentiments perfect for all those charming gals in your life.  This classy stamp set arrives just in time for Mother's Day!  What more can you ask for?

Now on to our challenge… Denise Marzec is our Timeless Tuesday Challenge hostess this week and for her challenge this week, we want to see you use some "BLACK ACCENTS" (FTTC219) on your card or project.  Let's see you use some black matting, black die-cut images, black ribbon, or try the ever-popular "chalkboard" technique that's popping up all over the blogging world.

Here's my fun glamour girl...

Isn't she adorable?  She reminds me of a young Audrey Hepburn.  And I wanted her to really have that glamourous look, so I really used a lot of black on this card. I used the Silhouette cut file that will be available in the store for this stamp set, and then stamped her with Memento Tuxedo Black on Flourishes Classic white.  She's coloured up with Copics and I popped up the flower in her hair/netting for some added va-va-va-voom!  One thing thats really cool about this set is the pearl choker that's included in it and I used it with VersaMark ink and embossing powder for the background behind her on the black layer.  You can see also see how I used it just beneath her elbows on the white cardstock as well.

The Spellbinders Die on the background layer is A2 Locking Loops.  I thought it went perfectly with the pearly theme.  On this picture you can see the rhinestones, pleated satin ribbon and the popped up flower.

Today we have both our Flourishes Senior Design Team AND our Friends of Flourishes Team sharing their "Black Accents" inspirations with you!  Take a moment and leave some love on all of our designer's blogs.

Come and hop along and visit with all of our super talented Flourishes designers and join us in our challenge this week for a chance at winning our ENTIRE new May release!  Yup...that's right...you could win our entire release just by playing along.  Check out the Flourishes Blog for further challenge details.  Good luck everyone!   All the sets that we will be showing you this week are already available for Pre-Release and our New Release Bundle will be available at a discount!  Looking forward to a great week!

Summer Lemonade

How about something soft and summery, with the perfect touch of tart and sweetness for this summer day?  I made this card for submission to a magazine and it wasn't accepted but now I get to share it with you!

A little bit of pretty lemonade for two! :)  With Flourishes On the Porch set that I love so much, paired with this month's Flourishes Kit - Sunkissed.  I used the Pennant Dies from Spellbinders and the SU Button Sizzlit die to top them off as accents.

Short and sweet for today, we're moving our office at work upstairs (yay!  After 8 years in the basement!)  But wow a lot of work ahead.  I'll need some lemonade when this is done!

Letters in Blossom Sets

Welcome to Day 2 of the beautiful Blossom Collection Spring Stamps!  I am so excited about this concept and the additions to the family that are coming.  Including today's awesome letter set.  I {{{heart}}}}this set!  I've been asking for a letter set for a while, and you'll love Marcella's beautiful artistry on it too.

I went a little crazy and created personalized card sets for all the ladies in my Bible Study.  They are wonderful women and we've walked through a lot together.  So I made a set of 4 cards for each of them.

There's a lot of pictures today so scroll on!  Any of them can be clicked on to enlarge the picture.

As I made them I tried to think of each ladies' personality and paired colors together for that.  I grabbed lots of designer paper from my stash and went from there for my coloring...

Each set looks like this above, I started with the cards on the right, scoring all those backgrounds and individually coloring their initials, after 8 sets of cards....I knew I needed a more simple design for the other pair in each set, so I used a single inked monogram blending with my Letraset AquaMarker to soften the color, adding the flower spray from yesterdays' Summer Blossoms set, and the used an embossing folder to match the designer paper.  Each set also has its own tag and then stamped envelopes.

Here's a closeup of the tag....

I used my Scor Buddy for the diagonal scoring and also this ribbon from the store (Woven Iridescent), probably my all time favourite ribbon we've ever carried....so much sheen, and ties beautifully!

Of course I love the green :)

Embossing Folder....Compassionate by Art Nouveau (sold out right now).

I LOVE the embossing folder on the left in the above cards! Courtship by Art Nouveau.

Isn't it lovely?

I thought about creating a box for each set of cards....but wow, when I realized how long these sets took me (despite using simple designs), I decided to go a different route.  When I packaged the cards I cut a piece of cardstock to match just slightly larger then the cards, stamped it up with the Summer Blossoms stamp and then tied them into bundles with the tag in a bow.

From the Garden

A lovely little pit stop today in the garden at Flourishes, with this set From the Garden.  This was released a year or so ago and it has the loveliest images!  Illustrated by the gardening guru herself Marcella Hawley :)

I remember the first time I saw this image I had to ask what this was.  It's a gardening cloche designed to protect fragile flowers like this pretty orchid.  Then it all made sense to me!

I've colored it up with Copics to match this pretty MME paper called Fiddlesticks, framing it out with some gorgeous Spellbinders dies Artisan Tags and accents.

Accents are Nestabling rhinestones, pleated satin plisse ribbon, braided cording trim and MME Blush Buttons, plus a tiny little resin flower accenting the sentiment below.

Join the DT as they share their Flourishes Free For All creations with From the Garden today!

Sending You Warm Fuzzies

How's the weather in your neck of the woods this winter?  We've had a very mild winter, save for about 2 weeks of brutal cold.  Whatever your weather, all of us could use some warm fuzzies right?  So I'm sending you some in the form of this card!

Isn't she just darling???  It's brand new from the Cat's Pajamas, called Warm Fuzzies and I think this set is adorable, right down to the bird on her head.  I've paper pieced her up with MME - Breeze dp's and then added Prismacolors to give her some depth.  Then I used those same papers to create a fishtale flag background layer.

Serious cuteness hey?

I don't know what it was, but my son thought the sentiment was hysterical.  It totally gave him the giggles.  Hopefully it makes you smile today too!

Stamps:  The Cat's Pajamas - Warm Fuzzies;  Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black;  Paper:  Flourishes Classic Ivory, Soft Sky, Old Olive, My Mind's Eye - Breeze;  Accessories:  Big Shot, Labels Twenty One, Sewing Machine, Double Stitched Ribbon, Prismacolors, Breeze Buttons, Glue Dots, Dimensionals.

Dear Friends are Close to the Heart

Isn't that true? I have a friend from college, which seems like a lifetime ago.  Since college we both married, moved away, have had families, and she lives in the US Midwest.  But because of the quality of friendship we have had, I could call her at any time and we could pick up right where we left off.  She's a treasure.  Boy do I wish we lived closer.

This lovely sentiment comes from the new Flourishes January Releases.  This set is called Heartlines and it's full of lovely sentiments perfect for people you care about.   I used an awesome Spellbinder's Die, Twisted Metal Tags and Accents to create the framing aournd the sentiment on lovely Kaiser Paper - Miss Nelly, and gave it a layout and sewing to feel a bit like a cozy quilt, finishing it with some hearts along the bottom.   I've also added some Spellbinders butterflies and little faceted hearts as accent.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Heartlines

Are you sentimental about love?  Then today's set will be perfect for you.  I think it's an outstanding little sentiment set perfect for those friends you love bunches, and it works not only for Valentine's but all year round.

I am really really loving all the Spellbinders Specialty collections,  this one is called Ornate Artisan Tags and Accents.    The unique shapes are really fun to play with.  I've paired the die with some My Mind's Eye papers, Vanity Fair.  Then I colored up the open letters with the Lenten Rose copics in a gradient fashion light to dark, dark to light.

Some pretty ruffled textured two-toned ribbon and a bow as accent.

Someone special is happy today has arrived :)  Today Barbara Anders is celebrating her LAST day of work and retirement!  Woo Hoo!  I know she's been counting down the days on her blog for a long time to finally be here.  So today Tammy Hershberger and a bunch of Stampy Girls have gotten together to wish Bar a very happy Retirement Day!

I really, really love this set from Flourishes, it's called Spring is Sprung.  It's one of my fav's from the past year of releases.  And I love the theme of new beginnings in it, perfect for the new beginning of retirement life!

I've used some pretty Copics to give it a fresh dose of springy color and this week's Mojo Sketch for some round fun.   The papers are from MME Sunshine pack.

Now isn't this sentiment perfect for the inside of the card?

Gift Calendar and Notes

A Happy Friday to you everyone!  Flourishes has a wonderful treat for you today!  Back by popular demand, our Calendar template for 2012!   Today the girls are going to show off some Calendar ideas pairing the template with some of our Flourishes sets.

Today I'm going to show you a page from March 2012.  I thought a great idea for the Calendar would be to make it up as a gift for a friend, and then also include little note cards to go along with the calendar page for each month.  That way, you are set for little notes or Birthdays in the month.

So, here we have March and the beautiful Irish Blessing set from Flourishes.  I think that the bouquet of Oxalis or clover is stunning and wanted to showcase it on the Calendar page.   The page is 5 x 7 inches.

I've added the clover trails along the bottom with some pretty stretchy green gingham ribbon.  Coloring is done with this Copic Collection

+ R81, R83, R85, R89

I also wanted to use some of the other elements in the set, the tinier bit of clover and the Claddaugh ring.   So I used them in the 3 x 3 notes.

And then to gift and store the little notes, I just added a regular A2 envelope with Scor Tape on the back of the calendar page to hold the 3 x 3s and envelopes.  This way everything is handy!

Check out the other great ideas with the new Calendar Template for 2012 with the rest of the Design Team.  The Template is now downloadable and will cost just $2.  And you can use it as many times as you like!

Stamps:  Flourishes - Irish Blessing;  Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black, Memento New Sprout, Memento Rhubarb Stalk;  Paper:  Flourishes Classic White, SU- Wild Wasabi, SU - Bravo Burgundy, assorted DP Scraps;  Accessories;  Big Shot, Picot Edge Circles Nestabilities, Circle Nestabilities, Doily Heart Circles, Gingham Ribbon, Adhesive Pearls, Scor Tape, Dimensionals, Copic Markers.
