The Cat’s Pajamas May New Releases!

Hello Friends!  I’m excited to be back with The Cat’s Pajamas showing off their New Releases this month!  The sets are all about celebrating those joyful moments, and little critters that will make you smile, they definitely make me smile!  I think you’ll really enjoy them!    There are four new stamps sets, four new dies and a free with purchase die that will all be available tomorrow, May 29th in the TCP Store!

We’ll start it all off with an awesome new set in the Storybook style.  It’s called, Live More.  I love the dreamy style of these stamps and hey, when you put in a beach scene, I’m sold!  It was time to get back to my roots and do a little watercolouring on this one too - to really showcase a dreamy summer sunset.  My kids bought me a new set of Gansai Kuretake watercolour pans for Mother’s Day, and I finally got to break them out for this card.

For the background, I really wanted to play off of the sunset clouds and colours in the card design so I pulled out TCP’s Clouds and Balloons CutUps Die to frame up the layers of the card with clouds.

I stamped the sentiment with markers in the colours of the sky using my Misti, and then with my waterbrush, washed it out a bit, let it dry and stamped it again.  It gives that soft washed out look I like for a watercolour card.  To ground the image and add some accent colour I added a few buttons, and some layers of twine that mimic the colour of the beach sand.

Next up, something VERY Clean and Simple.

TCP’s newest word die is this sweetly scripted Smile.  When I saw it I thought that would look really fabulous in a CAS style, which you know is a bit of a reach for me.  But, just look at how fun and graphic the pop of black, white and red is!  I love how this turned out, even though it took everything in me not to try and accent it more.

I cut out the smile die 3 x and layered it up to give it some depth, layered it on a bit of washi tape, and then added a sweet red felt heart die cut with TCP’s Nested Hearts CutUps Die.  It gives the perfect pop of colour.

Sweet, graphic and simple and I bet it does make you smile!

Next up is a very fun masculine design showcasing a very jowly pup...

It’s called Whee!  Now isn’t that fun?  This pug is jumping for joy with a little help from that balloon!  I gave him some colour with Copics and fun layers of plaid patterned paper and TCP’s Big Ticket CutUps Die.

Some sewing anchors the layers, and a wood veneer arrow helps give it some directional movement.

Are you In It To Win It?  For a chance to win a $10 gift certificate to the store, comment on each of the designer's blogs on a daily basis including mine today.  Winners will be announced on The Cat's Pajamas Blog and Facebook page each day. Beach Selfie

Back for day two of our Beachy Vacation in cards this week.  Today I’ve pulled out the very summery Best Day Ever stamp set for a fun and vibrant summery design.  I wanted to create the feeling of waves and sand as the background of the image, so I used pointillism.  I love how it gives you the feeling of the grains of sand and the foamy waves rolling in.

A few designer paper pennants and enamel dots (to echo the pointillism) finish it off.

Are you as ready for the beach as I am?  Now to only get rid of the 2 feet of snow in my yard!

No Waves, No Glory

Welcome to another round of The Cat’s Pajamas TCPTUES Challenge!  This week it’s an awesome inspiration shot from Nancy that I think is fantastic.  So many different directions you could go with this one!

I chose to make an interactive card using our new favourite Surfing Bunny!  It’s called Stoked, and I created it to make our Bun Bun be able to catch a wave across the card.   I paired the set with our TCP Slider CutUps Die, to allow this little guy to Hang 10 across the waves.  All you need to do is pull the little tab along the left and voila, he’s cruising!

I really played with the surfboard side of the inspiration photos, colouring in waves in the surf board, and adding waves from the Wave CutUps Die in layers and then the two toned letters in the sentiment, just like the one surfboard in the inspiration.

The pull out is stamped in White Craft ink, and I’ve sponged around our Stitched Clouds CutUps die in Turquoise ink to create the sky.

One last closeup of the little dude in his fancy shorts, and colourful Hawaiian Lei :)  No doubt, he’s pretty cool!

So be sure to join is in this TCPTuesday Challenge!  By entering on the TCP Blog, you could win TCP Cat’s Cash!

Well Played

We’re here for Day Two of the Color Me Grateful Polymer release at Power Poppy!  Today we’re showing off such a fun set that Marcy designed with her sweet daughter in mind.  It’s perfect for a number of occasions...teens, summer, the beach, it’s called Well Played, and I know you’re going to enjoy us showing it to you, the Bloom Brigade have some really fun and creative ideas!

I chose this fantastic backpack all packed up for a day at the beach.  Doesn’t it look ready for a girls day of fun with the water bottle, old school walkman and a pretty chevron towel?   I paired the image with some fun papers in the MME On Trend pack adding some wood veneer embellies with some white craft ink on top to give them more of a white washed feel.

I am slightly addicted to my stitched dies lately....I find myself reaching for them all the time!  I love that it gives you a clean look, but with just the right amount of extra detailing.

Here’s the Copics I used above....

Be sure to stop by the Power Poppy Blog to see what sweet things Marcy will have to say about this set and the rest of the Bloom Brigade playing along today...

Best Day Ever

Hello again Power Poppy Friends!  Did you SEE that awesome Move your Soul set yesterday?  Oh man, I can’t wait to play with that one...I just ran out of time this week!  Today’s fantastic set just sings summer fun.  It’s called Best Day Ever.

Marcy does little vignettes so perfectly.  They’re all bundles of surprises, and she always puts something sweet in each of them.  I thought I’d play with this fabulous scene and sentiment combination.

Doesn’t that just make you want to be at the beach?  I loved giving this some fun colour matching it up to this old pack of papers from Glitz - Uncharted Waters.  Because that cute thin strip along the side had polka-dots in it I thought it would be fun to create the “sand” with pointillism along the bottom of the scene and sentiment.

Here’s a closer look at the colouring...did you notice what Marcy put in the book?  “juicy novel that I cannot put down” :)  And I just love the sentiment too.  So sweet!

A little smattering of sequins finishes it off.  Love it!

Now, here’s the Bloom Brigade in action with this set!
