Watercoloured Spring Daffodils

Spring is springing!  It’s delightful to enjoy the warmer temperatures, to see little things popping out of the soils.  Today I’ve pulled out some pretty spring daffodils from Power Poppy’s digital set, Dancing with Daffodils.  It’s printed onto Arches 90 lb watercolor paper in a light rust ink.  This way the lines disappear when you colour.  I’ve printed it a decent size to fit this 4 1/4 x 6 1/2 inch card.  This image can also be found in a smaller size in polymer in this set, Daffodils.  I used a mix of watercolors, but primarily Zig Clean Colour Brush Markers, scribbled onto a palette and picked up with a brush.  There is a bit of Daniel Smith in some of the shadows.

The pretty sentiment is from Power Poppy’s polymer set,  Burst of Kindness stamped onto a watercolour patterned paper from MFT (all the patterned papers are actually MFT).  The colour blocking feel in the background seemed to suit the brightness of the watercolour on the image.

Isn’t that little snail on the left cute?  I love how Marcy always incorporates something sweet and charming in every one of her illustrations.  Completed with a couple of buttons along the bottom to ground everything in the card, and add a little weight.  It’s a lovely vibrant reminder of spring and friendship!

Have you heard?  It’s another of Marcy’s Weekend Stamp Steals!  This week she’s got Blossoming Cherry,  Happy Crabapple Stamp Set and Flowering Branches Digi up for sale! They are gorgeous and have some fantastic sentiments in each of the sets too!

You make those Zigs look amazing, Christine. I can't decide if I need them, but you tempt me. Not only is your watercoloring exceptional, but your papers complement it beautifully. They enhance rather than detract. This card is pure delight!
