You're going to love this set today. It's the perfect set for elegance and classyness - even masculine features - without too much work. The details Marcella gave this Fern Set is amazing.
I have to say though - I almost laughed when I first saw this set - just because I have a vivid memory of ferns. Our first home was a little bungalow we purchased from a lady in our church. She was too old to stay on her own anymore and wanted us to buy her house. We did and I have many fond memories of our little place, and the huge flower beds. Much of the yard had gone untended for years, and I had to do tons of work to get it back. One of the issues were countless ferns growing like crazy in several flower beds. It was to the point that I just hated them! LOL! My husband spent many an hour digging out those babies. So these polymer ones are much more my style!
I just love the look of white ink stamped on Kraft paper, and the Mellow Moss is such a nice contrast with it and white. I lightly colored the main ferns with my prismacolor pencils, and then just stamped all the other ones on the other layers, adding some fancy piercing with an Ornare template and some pretty ribbon treatments with the faux suede ribbon that I puckered against some sticky strip.
Now I have something entirely different on this next one, I went very bold and rich with this card using emboss resist as a technique.
I stamped the main panel ferns in White Craft ink and embossed them with white embossing powder. Then I heavily sponged the Old Olive and a little Night of Navy ink overtop. I added a smaller focal panel just stamped in navy ink and these great papers from Webster's Pages. I added some pretty crochet trim ribbon, and the little butterflies in copper paper with a Finishing Touches Ribbon Slide through a sliver of the designer paper.

ReplyDeleteChristine, your light coloring and silhouette stamping is really the best way to show off these particular fern images. So beautiful and delicate! Just gorgeous cards! It's funny, but we told similar, yet different stories about ferns in the garden. I can't bear to dig them up! One day, I'm sure, I'll have nothing but ferns and shrubs here!
ReplyDeleteI just love the white on the kraft, Christine...the ferns are just beautiful!!! Love the colors and design on the second card, too...both of these cards are STUNNING!!!!
