New Release - Humming Along

Well, haven't you just LOVED the sneak peeks so far of the New Release sets?  Today we have the last set to show you and it's an absolute beauty!  Marcella really incorporated beauty and detail in such a stunning manner in this set Humming Along.

I was perusing the 'net looking for some inspiration when I came upon a little piece of art, a stone coaster (scroll down to the birds) that just wow-ed me, so that was my inspiration for this piece.  I loved the smoky grey's against the ruby and the bright green.

This is actually quite a large piece just over 7 inches by 7 inches.  I stamped and masked the design to give the feel of the art piece using Flourishes Classic White Cardstock.  I colored the hummingbird and trumpet vine with my Prismacolor pencils.  I cut out the circles by tracing a set of my graduated size bowls, giving it a little out of the box on some of the leaves.  Then I sponged the edges with Going Gray and Basic Grey Ink to really give it that smoky look.

I've used sticky strip behind the main image and gathered the Boutique Cuts Satin Avocado ribbon into folds.

I edged the piece with a wide scallop punch and soem old SU designer paper, then finished it off with some beautiful Basic Grey Platinum pearls

Below you can see how the piece stands.

And another detail of the edges.

I think I'll give it to my mom who does so much for us and the kids.  Something to put up on her China Cabinet to show off.  :)    I absolutely LOVE it.

You'll see some amazing creations with this set today at the DT blogs: Cindy, Danielle, Dawn, Julie, Laura, Leslie and Stacy

  3. As usual your coloring is just stunning! It was fun to look at the Thirstystone coasters - they are worth their weight in gold here in the humid south as they really do absorb all the condenstation. The idea of an easel card of sorts is just wonderful, and I am sure it will grace that china cabinet for a long time!
