I'm such a slow stamper today I just can't seem to get my creative brain working....but I do have 3 fun things to show you...one even by my daughter!
Sample One: She's 3!
I'm a delinquint Auntie! My 2nd niece turned three and I'm so late in sending the package! She's such a little monkey too. A chatterbox and full of life, she really does take the cake. She loves pink so I wanted to send her a fun 3 cupcake with 3 candles card.
First I stamped the cupcakes in VersaMark on the patterned paper from last years' Bali Breeze, it's fun to take out the old colors sometimes. Then I embossed the cupcakes with Irridescent Ice EP and trimmed out the tops, and colored in the sprinkles with a SW marker. (this is nice and shimmery!) Then I mounted the tops with Dimensionals on the other stamped and cut out cupcakes, and tucked the candles between the layers.
I always love how Jodi/Kharmagirl does ribbon knots on her cards, everytime I see one I think...I should do that more...so the ribbon was the right touch for the corner with a little patterned paper behind the brads.
See the shimmer on the cupcakes tops?
Sample Two: My Daughter's Creation for Ali
Many of you who are a regular part of Splitcoaststampers have probably already heard about my friend Laurie/Lauraly's 12 year old daughter Ali. She is in a hospital in Seattle being tested and treated for a suspected brain tumor. Laurie is a wonderful person, I really appreciate her, and our families are very similar, our oldest daughter is the same age as Laurie's daughter. So our hearts are really heavy for their family and we've been praying for them.
Our daughter wanted to make a card for Ali - the kinship of 12 year olds' :)
Our girl has such a tender heart for others and is such a prayer warrior already, she's really burdened about this. So she created something to cheer Ali in colors she likes, letting her know that she is praying. I'm so proud of her, it turned out so well, she wrote such kind things inside too. And we really had a good time crafting together. I told her that as I tucked her in last night, I said "You're so easy to be with, I really like the age you're at". I think it's moments like this that you are again reminded how precious life is. Pray for the Schmidlin family would you? For the doctors treating Ali, for Ali's healing, for her family as they walk through this, for Laurie's mother-heart watching and waiting with her girl. They are 10 hours from home and could be at the hospital for weeks. Here is the thread over at SCS that has updates.
Sample Three: Hope for Laurie
Here is my card for Laurie. Hope is the one word you need to hold on to in times like this.
I stamped the topiary trees in black Stazon on watercolor paper and colored with reinkers. These are the colors for the CC challenge over at SCS today. Riding Hood Red, Kiwi Kiss and Pink Pirhouette. I like the shadowed effect of the trees especially. Gives it more realism I think. Some pretty ribbon and mounted on 3 panels of DP. Pretend you don't see my alignment isn't quite right on the panels...sigh, it was just one of those days. And it was all *down* and I couldn't get it back up again without starting over completely.
Sentiment is from So Many Sayings, and the Topiary is from Flourishes (so pretty!).
Did you know that you can enter each week into the Featured Stamper Challenge over in the Flourishes forum on SCS and win FREE Flourishes stamps? Every week there is a winner and the names are thrown in a hat and someone wins free stamps every month! A great way to build a beautiful collection!
