The Red Plane with RAM Stamps

I have distinct and nostalgic memories of being a little girl, laying on the grass in my backyard, or even at the school playground and looking at the sky and clouds. Often I’d hear the buzz of a airplane, and see a red prop plane fly over. For some reason, its a lasting childhood memory that makes me feel sweetly safe. I’ve come to learn that it is a surveying plane, taking daily runs over our city to monitor the oil pipelines making sure everything is running properly.

So its with a sweet nod to that childhood memory that I took this adorable little image from Rachelle Anne Miller called Little Pilot and coloured it up with Copics and coloured pencils. It definitely has a very Canadian feel in the layout too!

I used a cloud background die to add some texture, as well as some die cut and wood veneer stars to tie the themes together. The white rivets are added with a white Sharpie pen. The sentiment is from Concord & 9th and is layered on vellum.

Created for one of our favourite 3-year old’s birthday!

Bloomin' Aussie Florals

Welcome to the last day of our November Sneak Peeks! Hasn't it been another great release?

Today, we get to take the lid off the entire release AND share some fun things that are also in the Flourishes store as well! Are you ready? We are so excited we can hardly stand it! For starters -- all the stamp sets that we have shown off this week are now in the Flourishes store HERE! Today, all the designers are showing off a set that was inspired by the Land Down Under! Yes, Flourishes Fans -- we are talking about Australia! Our own Kathy Jones, who hails from Australia, helped develop this set concept, which has two beautiful botanicals as the centerpiece of the set! We also have heard from many folks (Australians and Canadians alike) that they wish we offered a set that spelled greetings an a way that they were accustomed to - words like "colour," "favourite," "neighbour," and more!

As a Canadian....I can't tell you how delighted I was to see that little "U" in there!

Take a trip to the land "Down Under" to see a pair of beautiful botanicals alive in this island continent. In this set called Bloomin' Aussie Florals, Artist Marcella Hawley brings the Golden Wattle and Sturt's Desert Rose to life with these illustrations and pairs them with true Aussie sentiments!

I love how this card turned out, and if you know me you know I'm not a particularly 'pinky' person. But, I think I captured the softness to the petals that I was going for. Colored up with Copic Markers and paired with this really lovely Lavendar Paper from MME's The Sweetest Thing Collection. It matches so well to the Emerald Coast Color Made Easy paper and seam binding, and then I added in a little ruffled edge ribbon along the side as well, then using Teal Zeal Memento Ink for the sentiment.

Canadian Moka!

June Release At a Glance

Hmmm, you might be thinking....why is Christine Sneak Peeking at Taylored Expressions? Well, let me explain.

I feel so blessed to be a Canadian! I was born in, and live in a nation that I am proud of. It is immensely beautiful; vast, full of variety in culture, climate and geography. I am free here to live out my faith, vote, raise my family, learn and grow. It's a wonderful place to call home. And while I've had the privelage of living in the US and Canada in my life so far - and have loved both, Canada is the home of my heart. So when Taylor from Taylored Expressions asked if I'd consider joining the TE Team in showing off this awesome new set celebrating my home country...of course I said yes! Thank you so much Taylor for letting me play along!

Let me introduce Moka Karen!

Isn't she fabulous? I already really loved the Moka Series from Nancy McKinney - and then to see a Canadian one was the icing on the cupcake! I've colored her up with some copic markers cutting her out of the box style with my Nesties shape. I tried to stay true to the real Mountie colors, only realizing too late that real mounties have deep navy blue pants, not black...but you get the picture. Isn't the sentiment awesome? So Canadian! Apparently I say 'eh too. Much as I hate to admit it :)

I used one of Taylor's special send-off sketches this month too just flipping it to give the feel of the Canadian Flag behind her as well...
