Last weekend was a special celebration for my Auntie, she celebrated 90 years! She’s always been one of my favourite Aunts, and over my growing up years I spent a lot of time with her whether we went on vacation with their family, weeks at the farm, playing Yahtzee and cards. She was always so good to me. Unfortunately, we had already committed to being at a wedding of one of our former students, so I sent a special card along with my mom for my Aunt.
She loves red geraniums and the colour blue, so that was a pretty fun combination to create with Power Poppy’s digital set Potted Geranium printed on Arches Watercolor Paper and then accented inside the card with the polymer version of this set Geraniums Take Two and the sentiment from Strong and Beautiful. The card is watercoloured with Daniel Smith watercolours.
To mimic the roundness of the geranium blooms, I made it a round card about 6 x 6 inches. A little splatter of paint and then a few holeless sequins accent with a bit of Baker’s Twine. The sentiment is stamped with Memento Ink and I filled in the letters with Copics.
Inside the design I just stamped the geraniums from the polymer set and then the sentiment. For a 90 year old lady, I think it’s a lovely way to congratulate her on her beautiful life.
A wee bit of stamping on the envelope ties it all together.
Have you heard about this weekend’s Stamp Steal at Power Poppy? And the 30% off Christmas goodies is still on for a few more days!

This is a beauty...soft and yet so rich in color and I love the round card detailing red and matching envelope! Your Aunt sounds like such a treasure!!
Beautiful, not only is the outside wonderful but a fun surprise on the inside too, love the decorating of your envelope to match!
What a dreamy card Christine! You always have such a way with creating those beautiful washes that really make your gorgeously colored image pop. I love this one and I know your Auntie did too! :-)
