So, I thought I'd cheer me up and do a nostalgic look back to this pretty Siberian Iris set from Flourishes. I think it's one of the first sets I ever got from the company. And I still think is a show stopper...
Here's one I made earlier this summer and didn't show you yet...
Nope, not velvet Elvis, it's a velvet Iris :) I paired this beautiful Iris with some older Velvet paper I had in my stash...I can't even remember who made it. Coloring on this pretty flower is done with Prismacolors and OMS, I tried to add a little golden coloring into the center petals of the iris too.
Now here are some more Iris cards I made that I've pulled out from the creative history vault :)
Above I combined several Flourishes flowers in this card for my mom, including poppies and violets. This one was watercolored. And as you can tell, I really like making my Irises burgundy. It's my favourite shade of Iris.
And above is the oldest one I could find in my pictures, this one was watercolored, cut out and popped up.
Now, what you may not know is there is also a beautiful little topiary in this lovely set too.....
I watercolored this pretty scene to give it a very fresh spring feel... and guess what? You can make it Christmassy too!
Here I paired it with some pretty Christmas plaid and added the small flourish from the set in the background. I believe this one was watercolored too.
Thanks for dropping by for this Ode To Irises. You can find my Ode To: posts by clicking on the bottom words Ode To in the Labels. :) Be back tomorrow with a Flourishes Pre-Release Challenge for October, new release Sneak Peeks start next week!
Oh no, we can't have a Cranky Christine! :) Cheer up, girlfriend!
ReplyDeleteBEAUTIFUL iris cards, and all the oldies but goodies, too! I LOVE those little topiaries, especially!
The best way to cure cranky is stamping or at least smell the rubber!! These are gorgeous cards! The iris set was my first from Flourishes!
ReplyDeleteYou've been busy!! Love the iris image - have some in my front yard and they are such a fun flower. Great topiary cards too.
ReplyDeleteHi Christine, thank you for all your lovely Iris cards. I had no idea that you can get burgundy irises. Here in New Zealand I think I've only seen purple or a fairly insipid yellow! Cardmaking and stamping is a very educational pursuit!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Anne.

Thanks for a wonderful collection of eye candy today, Christine! I loved every one. :)
ReplyDeleteSuch a fun walk thru your cards...
ReplyDeleteYour style is just so lovely I guess that's why I love to visit your blog so much!
UH! I think I choked on my pumpkin cookie a little - These cards are AMAZING!!! I love how you combined the Poppies and Iris together, and was there a little bit of Violets in that card too? I am so, so in love with your water colored topiary pots too!! Whew, I could go on and on! I think I need another cookie to calm me down :)
ReplyDeleteWow! These are some gorgeous cards, Christine! This iris was one of my early favorites and I think you've made some of the most beautiful cards ever with it. Those little topiaries with the pink flowers are so pretty, too. Gee, here's another set I need to pull out again some time. So many beautiful Flourishes images to choose from!
