You Warm My Heart

As I write this it's snowing like crazy here, and it's supposed to continue all day tomorrow too.  Good thing we're having a Beach Party at our Youth Kickoff tonight....we trucked in 4 yards of sand to make our own indoor beach in our youth facility, we crank up the heat, play beach volleyball, and Wii Resort...and ping pong, serve slushies, do the limbo... it's a very fun and warm celebration in the middle of winter!

Jen Del Muro has changed up the SFYTT this year and has made a monthly sketch rather than a weekly sketch, and this month's sponsor is The Cat's Pajamas.  And I just happen to have some new stamps from TCP so I thought I'd combine the fun sketch and the cute stamps!

There's the sketch and here's what I did with it.....

Isn't it fun?  You might notice something different about this card, something atypical for me.  There are no mat's on any of the layers.  BUT I did this with purpose....if you'll notice the TCP image (Like You a Latte) has the illusion of some lines but they aren't actually there....there is no definition in the little guys coat and his shoes are covered.  You sort of "read" definition in the stamp but it's actually missing, so I decided to sort of let the layers blend together too, giving a soft illusion.  Plus this paper from a long time ago from K & Co - Christmas Cheer sort of has that soft edge effect as well.  It's one of my favourite packs of K & Co I've ever had and I'm getting down to the last bits of it.   This is a 4.25 x 4.5 card.

I gave his coat a number of color layers in Copics to give it that sort of muted color-changing feeling that's like the green layer of dp, I paper pieced his cuffs and then added some real definition to his hair.  I also did a tip to tip with my R39 marker touched to my R30 to give some soft rosy-ness to his cheeks.  All you do is touch the tip of your R39 to the R30 and then dab on the cheeks.  Then make sure you color out the R30 on scrap paper till the darker disappears.

I added a "ghosted" snowflake cut with my Snowflake Sizzlet die and some acetate and then sprinkled with chunky glitter on Crystal Effects. A tad hard to take a good picture of it!

Copics used:  Skin:  E00, R00, R01, R30.  Coat:  YG00, G12, G21, G24, BG05, BG07, BG09.  Mits:  R389, R59, R89;  Hair:  E25, E27, E29, E33, E57, Black.

So I hope it's cozy in your corner of the world, and thanks for dropping by, leaving me a little note, etc.  It really does warm my heart :)

Stamps:  TCP  - Like You A Latte;  Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black;  Paper:  Wild Wasabi, Flourishes Classic White, K & Co - Christmas Cheer DSP, Clear Acetate;  Accessories:  Big Shot, Large Rectangle Labels Nestability, Wild Wasabi Double Stitched Ribbon, Snowflake Sizzlet Die, Dimensionals, Copic Markers, Crystal Effects, Chunky Glitter (SU).

Love the Ghost snowflake and I feel like some hot chocolate for some reason LOL. Darling card.

I can't believe you had 4 yards of sand to play in!! Where did you put it and what are you doing to do with it once you are done??!!! I have moved 4 yards of sand and that is a lot of sand. However, what a FABULOUS idea!! Bet the kids had a ball :)

Oh that's adorable! I love the colouring you did on his hair! What awesome colouring skills you have! What a great layout too.

I've been hoarding any packaging that I get to make some of those clear snowflakes. It's such a gorgeous embellishment. I also bought some chunky glitter stuff from SU so I must remember to use it with the snowflake.... such wonderful inspiration!

4 yards of sand! Wow. That's an event that won't forget any time soon. Next weeks event can be shoveling it all out again :-) A great way to expend some of their seemingly endless energy!

Hope your weekend is great and safe travels through the snow to that tropical destination.

Oh Christine, I am sure the youth had a blast with all that sand and the activities you had planned. Where do you put it and how do you clean it up when you are finished with it. Sounds like major work.

Your card is gorgeous!! I love your colors and that snowflake is so creative and really adds to that adorable wintery image. Gorgeous coloring and take on the sketch.
hugs,
Chris
