Hearts and Flowers

What could be more beautiful than hearts and flowers to express your love or to cheer someone?  I really LOVE this new set being released from Flourishes because it combines beautiful hearts and some flower favourites with some beautiful sentiments.  What I also love about it is that it's perfect for Valentine's, but also SO perfect for the rest of the year because of the different flowers chosen.  It's illustrated by Marcella Hawley, and I had a grand time playing with it!

Just look at these gorgeous flowers!  They could be daisies, or they could be asters too, or as I've made them, Black Eyed Susans!  I watercolored the flowers with my new Derwent Watercolor Pencils,  I'm really having fun with these. What I'm enjoying is the level of control you have because it's a tip just like a pencil or crayon and it's perfect for smaller more detailed stamped images.  After I colored it and cut it out with the Lacey Circles Nestie I sponged the circle with chocolate ink.  And then mounted it on a larger Circle from the Basic Grey Kraft pack.

The sentiment which I've curved like a flag reads "Let Yourself Go, You're Bound to Bloom"

Another favourite flower of mine is Hydrangeas and I especially love the purply-blue ones.  So how about this one for a beautiful heart.....

What I really love about the blue Hydrangea's is that mottled blue purple look they get and I tried to capture that in the watercoloring here again with my Derwent watercolor pencils.  After I trimmed the heart out I sponged the edges with Memento Lilac ink.  Isn't the sentiment lovely?  I sponged the Amethyst paper with a deeper purple ink, and then added some pretty Floral Accent Shapeabilities on the top and bottom corners of the Diamond Nestie shape.  Papers are Memory Box - Enchanted.  I love this pack!

Some pretty silk ribbon and a heart pearl accent.
