Sweets of the Season

How about something delicious today?  The kids and I were talking about things we look forward to at Christmas and one of the things they mentioned are special *treats* we only make at Christmas time, sugar cookies, shortbread, gingerbread houses, rosettes, chocolate rum balls....all those fabulous Christmas sweets, doesn't it just make your mouth water????

Today's New Release Sneak Peek from Flourishes celebrates all those sweet things about Christmas, illustrated by the fabulous Marcella Hawley.

For this first card I wanted it to look like a plate of gingerbread that little children might leave for Santa.  I stamped this adorable pair of ginger-people on Flourishes Classic White Cardstock and colored with Prismacolor Pencils blending with OMS, then I popped them up on a Beaded Ovals Nestability shape that had been cut out on Basic Grey's new Kraft 6 x 6 pack of paper, with lots of sponging from Ranger's Tea Stain ink.

You can see I've added some pearl accents to Gingerlady's pearl necklace and the sentiment.

And here's the pretty detailing along the bottom.  I used some gorgeous new ribbon, Velvet and Crochet ribbon, as well as some pretty gingham tied through the Nestability template.

Now how about something sparkly???

I just love how pretty ribbon candy looks.  It's so pretty and fragile looking with all it's loops.  I went for some super sparkle on this card.

Coloring is done with Copic Markers and I've added microbeads to the green gumdrops and lots of sparkle to the ribbon candy and wrapped candies with my glitter pen.   Hopefully you can see it a bit better on the picture below.

The Nestie template is the Eyelet Circles and I've added some gorgeous Zva rhinestones cutting the flourish in half and using it on the top and the bottom.  The little touch of ribbon is some pretty edged Iridescent Taffeta tied in a little bow.

Well, you'll want to hop on over to the other Flourishes DT girls to see their mouthwatering Christmas Sweets today too...  And don't forget you can enter to win this set today at the Flourishes Blog!  And get sketchy with the Pre-Release Challenge to enter to win all of our New Releases!
