One Stamp Set Two Ways

We have a great theme this week for Flourishes Friday, and it's also the Christmas Challenge for October too ... using one stamp set and creating two looks with it.  I really enjoy doing this sort of thing because it shows the versatility of the stamps.

So here is my pair of cards created with the Doves and Holly set from last Christmas at Flourishes.  One is very Clean and Simple and one is more rich.

I think one thing I really appreciate about Flourishes stamps is that they are so finely detailed that you can color them up beautifully, or just stamp them as they are and you get a gorgeous looking, finely detailed image.  On this beautiful CAS design on the left I did just that.

I stamped with Ranger Distress Ink in Stormy Sky, which is a perfect match for the retired color Buckaroo Blue from SU.  After I cut out the birds with a Labels Seventeen Nestabilities, then I used the nesties as a template and sponged heavily with the Distress Ink in Stormy Sky around the edges.  It leaves a nice crisp border of white around the image.    This would be a great style for Christmas cards I think.

Then I created the card shape by using the largest of the Labels 17 Nesties shape, cutting out the card just over the folded edge (card folded 4.25 x 11 inches) so you have a shaped card.  I added a Buckaroo Blue layer that had been embossed with the poinsettia folder from SU.

Then you can see I added a silk ribbon bow, a Finishing Touches brad,  and Dazzling Diamonds on the edges of the card with my Quicky Glue Pen.  To me this is totally a Stacy Morgan style card :)

Then for the warmer version of the card...

I used some of the same themes in the card with the sponging (Ranger Distress Ink - Tea Stain), but this image was colored with Copic Markers (Dusty Rose, Evergreen, Flesh Tones 1 and Flesh Tones 2 Collections, and a W1 and W2.  I used some beautiful papers Capella by Basic Grey and Leslie's new favourite Prima Paper (Analee is still available in the store).   You can see I embossed the layers under the main image and sponged them really well with Tea Stain Distress ink.

For accents I've added two rows of ribbon, Ivory Trim Loop and the gorgeous new Satin Pleat Ribbon that is just dreamy!  Then I've added some lovely pearl embellishments.

So there you have it, one beautiful stamp set, two different ways!  Hopefully that inspired you!  Join us on the challenge and use the keywords FLLCNOEL6 and create two cards with one set.  And I know you'll find lots more inspiration from the rest of the fabulous Flourishes Design Team....

  3. Wow, I have this set and find that these wonderful birds are just too beautiful for me to do them justice. I keep trying, as I love this set. You did a fabulous job in coloring the doves. I struggle with this. I can never seem to make them look life like and you did! Beautiful!
