Guiding Light & Antique Map

Oh what a fantastic few days ahead we have for you!  Seriously, I'm just giddy!  I truly think that this May Release at Flourishes is one you're going to be drooling over.  Today's two sets are just so beautiful!  A gorgeous background and a stunning masculine set.  I have such a thing for nautical images too.  And these are beautifully drawn by Lauren Pope.   I actually made 3 cards with these sets, but I'm only going show you two today.  The other one I'll save for the release party :)

Isn't this a fabulous manly set?  It's called A Guiding Light And the sentiments are SO meaningful.  I stamped the clipper ship on Kraft and colored with copic markers, then I added white prismacolor pencil to the sails to make them shimmer crisp white and to add foam to the waves.  I love how that turned out!

Part of this set is a fantastic sailors knot as well and I embossed it over my *waves*.  I added twine wrapped around and some linen stitches to keep it very masculine.

I've roughed up the edges and added the very lovely masculine tones from the 7 Gypsies - Gypsy Market pack of designer paper.

Next I have a collage-feel card that showcases the Antique Map set.

I embossed the map on the Prism Iced Teal cardstock and then bleached out areas of the map.  Then came back and added sponged in Craft ink so it would take on the tones of this perfect piece of Webster's Pages paper (isn't it cool how even the compass matches on the DP?).  I also took the compass from the stamp set, stamped it again on Chocolate Chip and embossed it and cut it out as part of the focal piece, bleaching it again  - it takes on the perfect yellow tones.  Isn't this sentiment amazing too?  It's from the Guiding Light set.  Below you can see the shimmer of the embossing.

Would you like to win this set and background stamp? Simply leave us a comment on this post and you might walk away with these two new beauties! We'll announce all the daily winners in our Winner's Circle here on the Flourishes Blog this Saturday at 12 PM CST.

Absolutely LOVE what you've done with the first card, Christine!! The waves you created and the rounded corner along with the twine and "x's". Fabulous card! The second one is nice too, but the first one is stunning.

Guiding light is such a wonderful masculine set. My DH's family are all Cape Breton's and half of them are fishermen. This set would make some very awesome cards for them.
