Pop of Poppy!

It’s a gorgeous summer day in our area, so I hope this also finds you enjoying something summery  where you are too.  We have a brand new Power & Spark Challenge this month at Power Poppy (more on that later), and I have a creation today using the new polymer set, Poppy XL, and the new dies that go with this set, Poppy XL Coordinating Dies.  It’s such a luscious bloom in this large size that it’s especially fun to get into all those folds of the petals and bring it to life.  Poppies are so papery and almost transluscent, and I tried to capture that in the colouring, using Copics.

I stamped the stem and bottom leaf directly on the main card panel and the other elements on Copic XPress It paper and cut the pieces out with the dies.  Then I could play with how I wanted to position the flower and leaves on the card.

I have a bit of sewing on the white layer, the sentiment from the set, and some striped paper to off-set and add to the contrast between the colours, and a few wee gems to finish it off.

Here’s the Copics I used:  R12, R21, R24, R27, R29, C3, N5, 100, V04, V06, BV00, G12, G14, G07, YG00, G46

Now, introducing our new Power & Spark Challenge for July!

This month Julie is hosting and she’s challenging us to be inspired by any of the techniques from our past Inspire Me Monday posts.  If you play along you could win a $50 Gift Code to the Power Poppy Store!  Between all the new Creative and Curious Stamp Sets and the amazing Digital Blitz images Marcy recently released, there’s so much to choose from!

WOW! Christine, I agree with Leslie that this is one gorgeous pop of poppy! I love this XL flower and have been yearning to stamp it out and color it. It's just so gorgeous, and it really makes a card all by itself. Stunning coloring, and what a wonderful layout! Beautifully done, sweet friend! Hugs! xoxo
