Happy Spring Showers

Here we are in one of my favourite times of the month....Pre-Release Challenges at Flourishes!  It's a favourite because that means new release Sneak Peeks begin next week!

Last month, we let the cat out of the bag and told you that once in a while we'd usher in what we called  a Pinter-inspiration challenge. We're getting on the Pinterest bandwagon and even have a Flourishes page HERE showing not only all of our sets but cards and techniques that inspire us! So, today's Pinter-inspiration is one inspired by the website Design Seeds. Here's a peek at what they do!!!

They take an image and then, produce a color palette taken from the gorgeous photo! You'll have to check out their website HERE for their literal daily inspiration! I have re-pinned many of their palettes from their site!
So today we get to play with gorgeous shades of plum, purples and sea foam greens.   I was in the mood for something spring so here's my take on the colors...

A little splish-splashing in the rain in these pretty rain boots.  This is from one of my favourite spring time sets from Flourishes - April Showers.  I stamped the rain showers and umbrellas on the background layers, the sentiment is from another set Spring is Sprung.  Then colored up the main image with Copics, sponging the inside edges of the Postage Stamp Die.

A little Candi in Iced Gems as accents :).

As you can see I created a little puddle under the boots which I love to do with this set.  Add Crystal Effects overtop left to dry for about 30 minutes and you have a perfect shiny puddle.

So, please join is in this color inspiration challenge!  You could be chosen to win the entire new Release this month.  And you'll be delighted when you start to see the sets next week.  They are gorgeous!

HOW TO PLAY! So, do you want a chance to win Flourishes entire March Release? All you need to do is be inspired by the color palette above and use it in a creation! Once you are done, just link up here using the inlinkz widget and you will be in the running. You have until Friday, March 16th at 5PM  EST to enter! Use Flourishes stamps if you have them, but if you don't -- play along anyway -- you would win some! The winner will receive all three sets and our new Tailor-made die that will be unveiled in our newest release starting NEXT WEDNESDAY! If you upload to Splitcoaststampers, don't forget to use the keyword MAR12PIN! Good Luck!

Pink and Purple are her Favourite

Our little niece that's here in the city (not the nieces in the US) just turned three.  She's always told me that her favourite color was purple, but when I asked her about it the other day then suddenly pink and green were in the running too.   The more she thought about it she said, no it was pink and purple that were her favourites :)  Not necessarily my favs, but who am I to argue with a 3 year old?

So, a pink and purple scooter and little girl is what she got for her Birthday card.  These cute sets from There She Goes are called Scootin' By and Scootin' By Accessories.

I seem to have a theme this week as well, paper piecing combined with Copics.  I've pieced her dress with some Basic Grey paper and colored the rest with Copics.  Her hair matches the color of my nieces hair and I've added 3 balloons for her 3rd BD, tied with jute.  The card is 6 x 6 in size, that way all of us could write her a little message.  This is last weeks Deconstructed Sketch from Jen.

One last detail shot of the coloring...

She's pretty cute :)  And so's my niece.  Here she is on her big day with her daddy (my brother).  He calls this her "dodgy look".  :)

Back late Thursday night with the Flourishes March Pre-Release Challenge!

Happy Birthday Dude

Last weekend was full with two Birthday parties.  One was our middle son attending his best friend's party -  who is turning 13!  These boys have known each other since the hospital :)  They are four months apart in age.  Four of the guys this age are very good friends from Church, and I've mentioned before that they call themselves N.E.A.T.  An acronym for their first names.  One of N.E.A.T. has been away for two months with his parent's to Africa doing some short term teaching there, so this party was the first time the 4 compadres were reunited.  They were a little excited to hang together again.

So, here's a CAS design for a 13 year old who also loves snowboarding.  I've combined TSG's Snowy Days set with a MFT Pure Innocence Sentiment because they worked well together.  Copics and Paper piecing on the DUDE.

You just don't want to do any bows or ribbon for a 13 year old guy, so I added some buttons and twine hoping it adds to the design but still stays DUDE-ish :)

Stamps:  TSG - Snowy Days, MFT - PI Skateboard Boy;  Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black;  Paper:  Marina Mist, Pure Poppy, Flourishes Classic White, Basic Grey - Picadilly;  Accessories:  Grand Calibur, Basic Squares Nestabilities, Postage Stamp Punch, Twine, Buttons, Glue Dots, Sewing Machine, Copic Markers, Dimensionals.

Swanky!

Hey, I had some very fun news this past week that I'd love to share with you.  I was chosen as The Cat's Pajamas' - Swanky Stamper for March!

Isn't that COOL?  So I get to play along with some of their next release.  Yippee!  It was such a fun and lovely surprise on a day I needed it :)   I love their fun stamps too!

To celebrate I pulled out a little TCP action for today.

This warm and cozy palette is brought to you by the fantastic colors and patterns in the Basic Grey Indie Bloom paper pack.  I wouldn't normally throw Pumpkin Pie and Pool Party together - even though they all start with "P", but I've found they go fabulously together (I think :) ).  This cute TCP set is called You Suit Me.  I paper pieced her coat, mitts, and scarf, and then copic colored the rest.  I love the combination.  This is this months' SFYTT from Jen as well. I did alter it slightly to make it work for the larger main panel I had.  That's cut with Creative Book Pages Two Spellbinders Die.

Here's a close-up of the coloring and details.

Love her sunny strawberry blonde hair!

Stamps:  The Cat's Pajamas - You Suit Me;  Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black, Pool Party;  Paper:  Pool Party, Flourishes Classic White, Pumpking Pie, Basic Grey Indie Bloom;  Accessories:  Big Shot, Creative Book Pages Two Spellbinders Die, Pinked Hearts Punch, Pool Party Seam Binding, Pool Party Twine, TCP Ribbon, Sizzlit Snowflakes Die, Sizzlit Buttons Die, Copic Markers (BG0000, G0000, BG11, BG13, W1, W3, E0000, E00, E50, E51, E33, YR12, YR04, E35, RV55, Y35, Y38), Dimensionals, Glue Dots, Sponge

Project 365 - Week 9

Another week of photographs.  A little of this and that for you...

Feb 26 - The Scor Buddy and Scor-Bug that I was a little obsessed with this week...some bits and pieces of card construction.

Feb 27 - My Bible, and a very special verse to my husband and I,  Romans 5:5 "And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out His love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom He has given us."  You can click on the picture to make it larger and to read the verse.

Feb 28 - Mexican Lunch Date - We were given a gift certificate to a favourite Mexican Restaurant of ours, this is my favourite meal they have, Tacos El Pastor.  Very Mexico City, and the closest we have tasted to being authentic out of Mexico City :)  You sprinkle the lime onto the little tacos and then you can add the Salsa Verde too.  Delicious!

Feb 29 - Leap Day Orange :)  I keep of running list of shots I'd like to take so that on days when nothing spectacular is going on I can shoot something from the list.  The idea was "orange" and I thought of orange segments.  I've been working with apeture more and am starting to figure a few things out, so I like this shot a lot!

March 1 - Snow Fort Building! After the foot of snow that fell last week, the boys built a fort in the snow my husband piled on the yard from the driveway.  It was really cool.

Mar 2 - Doing Dishes - nothing photo amazing in this shot, it was just so sweet :)  My husband was doing dishes for my mom and our youngest helped dry.  I love my boys :)

Mar 3 - Another Family Birthday Party - Our little niece celebrated her 3rd BD today, so it was another party.  I snapped this one of our daughter with my mom.  I love how precious it is.  They have such a special relationship.  A really nice picture of my mom too :)

An Irish Blessing

Today the Flourishes Girls are going to give you a timely focus on the set Irish Blessings.  Perfect for your St. Patrick's Day, expressing love or a kind blessing to anyone at any time of the year.

As I said earlier this week, I seem to be on a Scor-Buddy/Scor Bug kick this week, I used the scoring board and the little Scor Bug to create the embossed lines and dashes.  I think it gives you that celtic plaid sort of feel.  Then I added the Satin Finish Ribbon in Avacado on the diagonals with Scor Tape.  It's actually a pretty CAS Design, but the ribbons give it depth.

I've colored up the trailing clovers with Prismacolor pencils, finishing the edge with the Classic Bracket Edgeabilities Die.

I stamped the sentiment in this beautiful Fancy Tags Two Labels from Spellbinders, then overstamped the clover in Lime Tart Memento Ink and the added some Chocolate Limes Candi with some Praline and Cream glitter overtop.

Join the rest of the DT today to see all of their great Irish Blessings Creations!
