Have you ever played with cyanotype paper? The type of blue photographic reactive paper that you use in the sun with something on the paper to create a print? Well today I was playing with some new The Greetery products and it created a similar effect on my cardstock, and I thought you might enjoy the idea.
To create the faux cyanotype background I used some darker sage cardstock and The Greetery’s stamp Spring Meadow Background, inking it with a lighter Distress Oxide ink, Iced Spruce. Then I spritzed it with water to get a washy oxidized effect and stamped it on the paper.
The chalky look of the ink really gives that photo paper reaction feel. The arched frame is created with The Greetery’s Spring Meadow Stencil and other Distress Oxide inks. All I did was reverse the stencil to get the flowers to face the other direction than the original.
To layer it up I added some greenery in a softer blue-green colour with the Big Branches: Ruscus die. Adding in bits of vellum greenery, sequins and mica flakes, with the sentiment from Sketched Wildflowers.
For this second card I did a similar effect on the cardstock, but this time used the stencil the “right” direction and added the coordinating dies to pop the flowers up.
I love the wavy colour that spritzing with water gives to the paper. Less crisp, more distressed feeling.
A few dots from my Copics in the centre of the die cut flowers, and the sentiment from New Day Sentiments Stamp Set.
This one feels like a bright spring day! Thanks for popping by today!
