Ahhhh, the open road is calling me!
I thought I’d get in one more pencil creation for this month’s Pencil Me In Challenge at Power Poppy. One of the ways that I really love to use my pencils is on Kraft card stock. It gives you a totally different look from white card stock.
I pulled out the one set from the most recent Power Poppy Release that I’d being dying to use but just hadn’t had a chance yet. It’s called Move the Soul. My husband and I love motorcycles. He had one before we were married, and if we could have one now we would, with 3 kids and the cost, it’s not practical or possible right now, but maybe someday in the empty nest we’ll find ourselves out on the open road with one of these :)
I stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto the Kraft paper, and then started colouring with my white prismacolor pencil. That’s how I always start on darker paper, that way you create a waxy base for the other colour to sit on, so it pops. Then, you can blend it with the white pencil as well. Awesome effect, and highlights built right in!
As you can tell, I really wanted to give this whole image the feeling of movement, so that’s where all those fun white and gray streaks come behind the image. You might not be able to tell, but on all the chrome I used a metallic silver pencil and it really shines just like chrome.
I added some stars with the TCP Stars dies, and the stamped star from this set fits perfectly into the smallest star die.
I absolutely LOVE that Marcy used her own tire track as the model for the tire track stamp in the set (stamped in black) and to mirror that, I took out my Tim Holtz Burlap stencil and some embossing paste and added it in white to the bottom corner of the card....it looks just like the tire track but it’s raised embossing paste. Really cool in real life.
Pop on over to see what the rest of the girls playing today have to show off....and then remember you have a couple more days you can still enter into the Pencil Me In Challenge, and be entered to win Power Poppy Stamps!

Oh, Christine, I didn't know you and hubby are bikers! Cool! Yes, perhaps in the empty nest stage of life you can start riding again! I absolutely love this card and the great design!! The stars are really neat, and your pencil coloring is awesome! I have been considering doing on this week and now am inspired more so. Thanks for the reminder about using the white pencil as a base. I took an online class and heard about it, and it really make such a difference on the Kraft paper! And the silver pencil must be fabulous IRL! Rocking card, my friend! Hugs!
