Folk Heart

It’s Day 2 of our power-packed Power Poppy February release!  Today we’ve got a really lovely set that is downright folksy!  It showcases so many fun little elements that can be combined or used alone to create a folk-art feel.  It’s called Folk Heart and it’s so sweet!  

I decided to work with this sweet little bird in a heart wreath.  One of the hallmarks of folk-art style from my research is the use of bold colour in a fanciful way.  I totally went with that feel for my design.  

I coloured up the little bird in some fanciful colours with Copics and then trimmed out the little heart, popping it up and placing it onto a Spellbinders Die piece.  On the front panel of the cardstock I used a mini heart stencil and some embossing paste to go with the heart theme as a background element.  I think it gives it that dainty feel.  

Once the embossing paste had dried I added some strips of vellum, wash tape and silver cording around that layer.  

That sweet little sentiment flag is the finishing touch.  

Copics I used (again I was a away when colouring so I didn’t take a photo)  Leaves: G40, G43, G46, Feathers: BG05, BG07, BG09, BG75, R24, R27, R29, Breast & Flowers:  Y11, Y15.

Folk Heart

Peace from Power Poppy for Ukraine

 

Greetings lovely ones!  I am bringing you a new offering from Power Poppy today that’s all heart.  Marcy has remixed this lovely image from her old polymer set Folk Heart as a new offering who’s sales will go to support Ukraine, it’s called Peace Offering.  The folk art images are based on European folk art style that evoke a very touching historical feel.

I’ve created this quaint little vase of flowers by printing the image using a light colour of ink and colouring with Copics.  For the background I watercoloured Cobolt Blue and New Gamboge from Daniel Smith in an ombre style to mimic the Ukrainian flag.  Those primary colours really pop!  

I’ve also mirrored the background style in the sentiment letters for a simple tie-in that makes the design cohesive.  

My heart is heavy for many who are suffering, at risk or fleeing Ukraine.  We have many connections to people in our Conference of Churches who are in the midst of the warzone, providing relief for refugees, or for people on the ground.  And I’m so prayerful for a peaceful resolution soon for our brothers and sisters there.  

In addition to the other FREE sunflowers for Ukraine digis Marcy is offering right now, she is kindly donating 100% of the sales of this $5 digi set to Sunflower of Peace, a non-profit organization committed to helping Ukrainians affected by the Russian military invasion with medical and humanitarian aid. It is a USA-based 501(c)(3), working with a global network of established organizations and institutions that are committed to helping Ukraine in the current situation.

Peace from Power Poppy for Ukraine

Folk Heart Friend

Hi Friends!  Happy Summer!  In my neck of the woods we have sunlight right now from about 4:30 am until 10:45 or 11 pm, it is so beautiful, and so full of hope and rest.  If only I could get my hectic schedule arranged better so I could enjoy it more!  

Just a friendly card for no reason other than to say hello and have a happy day!  Did you know that a new Power Poppy release is just days away?  I can’t wait to show you what’s in store with this sweet new group of stamps!  

But back to today, it’s created with Power Poppy’s Folk Heart Stamp set and some cool palette colours.  

This one’s really easy to put together a quick colouring job and have a sweet little design.  Paired with some embossing, some stripedy dp, seam binding, baker’s twine and some rhinestones.

Folk Heart Friend

May’s TCP Blog Hop!

We’ve had the best time showcasing all the fun and fab new goodies in our May Sneaky Peek week at The Cat’s Pajamas.  I think there was a little something great in there for everyone!  Today we’re wrapping it all up with a Blog Hop to celebrate.  You should have come from the wonderfully clean and classy creativity of Melissa’s Blog at Inked Regards.  

Today I have two cards to show you, one in cool shades and one in warm shades.  

This first design uses our new Folk Art Flowers Bundle for that adorable flower filled watering can.  I used my MISTI to makes sure I got a really solid inked impression on the blooms and can, and added a little die cut heart as accent.  I’ve placed it on a scalloped circle using TCP’s  Going Round and Round Cut Ups Die, and then inked up the sentiment with the lovely Scripted Sentiments stamp set.  I found the perfect matching paper in my stash with folksy flowers in these same hues. 

Next up is this long-necked cutie patootie!

Seriously, how cute is a giraffe carrying his bag of carrots with a neckerchief?  Adorable!  I used the new  Hay Neighbor and coordinating Farming CutUps Dies for this set.  I gave him some fun colour with Copics and then placed the carrots and his cute little self onto a base cut with TCP’s   Mailbox CutUps Die  and then accented with a sweet puffy white cloud cut with TCP’s Stitched Clouds Die.  For that pretty orange gingham paper, I cut out the bottom edge with TCP’s  Clouds and Balloons CutUps Die to mimic the shape of the spots of the giraffe and then added a little green with TCP’s  Grass Border CutUps Die.  

A few enamel dots, some twine and the sentiment pull it all together sweetly.  Here’s a peek at all the NEW MAY goodies I used today.
