Little Black Purse

Welcome to my first Blog Hop with the CardMaker Blog Team!  Today's hop is a fun theme.  You know all those last minute gift cards you get for the people on your list?  The hard to buy for, or the simple gifts for teachers or the mailman etc?  How about packaging them in something fun?  Today's hop is all about creative gift card holders.

I thought a fun way to showcase my gift card would be a little black purse (sort of like that essential little black dress).  So I dressed up my gift card this way....

I started with a very cute cut file template from the Silhouette store for a purse where the gift card pops up when you open it.  I cut it out on metallic black cardstock for that shine and shimmer factor, and before assembling I embossed the design with this gorgeous Courtship embossing folder (do be careful though - once you emboss the paper it is more fragile).

After assembling the purse with Scor Tape,  I did a little glitzy embellishing.  Some May Arts Metallic Velvet along the top, some black Satin Plisse Ruffled Ribbon for the purse strap, some curly silver metallic ribbon for fun, silver cording holding the clear beads and the pretty purse charm (source unknown).  The tiny Classic Tag is embossed in silver from a fun little Flourishes set called Tiny Flowers and Tags.  And finally a pretty Architectural Brad from Nunn Designs to finish it off as the purse clasp.

Now for the inside of the purse so you can see the gift card (you can click on these to make the larger)...

Because of the inside pocket and the way it's attached to the flap, when you open the purse, the gift card pops up.  Which is a sweet little touch.  Hope you enjoyed this little project and I know you'll continue to be inspired by the rest of the team....hop on over to these fabulous CardMaker Blog Team girls:
