Silvered Lilacs

Hello there stamping friends!  Hope your week has been filled with encouraging things!  I’m back with another card for the Power Poppy - Power & Spark Challenge this month.  This time I’m playing with purples and black and white.  I pulled out the ever beautiful and fragrant Lilac Time stamp set, and with my Copics, coloured part of the petals in different shades of purples, and the leaves, stem and other petals in cool greyscale tones.  I think the effect of the purple cascading through the lilac blossoms is really pretty.

I chose some fun dramatic black and white papers, found a pretty grey ribbon and a silver ribbon slide to embellish.  But once I had that silver accent I knew I wanted to carry it a little more through the design.

I took some silver metallic paint and splashed it across parts of the card to give it some shine.  The sentiment, also from the set is stamped in SU Orchid ink.  It reminds me of a song by Jonny Diaz called Just Breathe (I’ve linked the video - it’s really good).  The song is about how we frantically live our lives and the invitation to slow down.  It really speaks to the season of life I’m in so I thought you might enjoy it too.   Here’s the lyrics...

Breathe - Jonny Diaz
Alarm clock screaming bare feet hit the floor
It’s off to the races everybody out the door
I’m feeling like I’m falling behind, it’s a crazy life
Ninety miles an hour going fast as I can
Trying to push a little harder trying to get the upper hand
So much to do in so little time, it’s a crazy life
It’s ready, set, go it’s another wild day
When the stress is on the rise in my heart I feel you say just
Breathe, just breathe
Come and rest at my feet
And be, just be
Chaos calls but all you really need
Is to just breathe
Third cup of joe just to get me through the day
Want to make the most of time but I feel it slip away
I wonder if there’s something more to this crazy life
I’m busy, busy, busy, and it’s no surprise to see
That I only have time for me, me, me
There’s gotta be something more to this crazy life
I’m hanging on tight to another wild day
When it starts to fall apart in my heart I hear you say just... breathe

Here’s my Copics above...

So, please join us on the B & W with a Splash of Colour Challenge - up for grabs is s $50 gift code to the Power Poppy store!  With new release previews starting next week it’s a great time to create and enter.  I can’t wait to start showing you the new sets!  You’re going to be blown away!

Christine, as usual, your card has just taken my breath away...which is kind of funny considering the song you chose to share, Just Breathe! I actually made a card for our daughter with that sentiment to share before her wedding day! I do love the Orchid ink and wish I still had that ink pad...you’ve made such a gorgeous card. What a great challenge, and I hope to participate soon! Blessings on your day!

Christine, what a gorgeous card! Your colors are stunning with the black and white! The orchid just pops! And I love your coloring and how you've used the silver accent and metallic paint to give it that sparkle! Oh, I so love this song and just played it now. It's something that we all should remember. Just breathe...and sit at His feet. The Father so desires us to draw near to Him as He gives us the only true rest we can have here on earth. Thanks for sharing the lyrics and the link, sweet friend! May we rest in Christ alone! Hugs and love! xoxo

Loving your pretty lilacs, ours bloomed for the first time this year and this reminds me of our little bush we have. Your touches of silver are such a pretty touch with the purple!

Those splashes of silver are a beautiful finish with your colors and papers! The song lyrics... exactly how I don't want to be and why I love to stop and smell the roses and lilacs. Thanks for the reminder, Christine!
