New Year’s Botanical Framing

Happy 2018 friends!  I hope that you’re encouraged and feeling renewed purpose for your life in the new year.  We’ve had some good family time in the last week, despite all of us kind-of limping through head colds.  I’ve appreciated a little extra space and rest.

We’ve also been in the midst of a fridgid cold-snap here, with crazy windchills at night in the -50 celsius (that would be -58 F).  Sheesh!  I’m so grateful for a furnace that works and a warm house.  With all the cold we’ve been having, I’m longing for some spring!  This is also the year where my husband and I have a sabbatical coming.  Four months for study and rest and it begins mid-March, so you can see my anticipation of Spring is even greater!

So January on the blog will be a big focus on the colours and themes of Spring!

Today I’m kicking 2018 off with a pretty pop of colour and some beautiful Spring flowers.  I pulled out Power Poppy’s Daffodils Stamp Set and Big Scripts Stamp Set to create a botanical framed card.  I began with a 4 x 5 1/4” piece of XPress It Blending cardstock and stamped part of the daffodils around the paper, being sure to leave a large white space in the center of the design.  Then I took my sharp paper snips and cut out the hole in the center of the paper and then trimmed carefully around the outlines of the images.

Inside I embossed the Big Scripts sentiment in white and added some Nuvo Iridescent dots for a touch of sparkle.  It’s quite a simple design, but the pops of all the colour really make it shine.

Inside I stamped the image in SU Almost Amethyst ink.  Here’s the colours I used below.

Thanks for stopping by!  Blessings friends!  Spring is coming!
