Golden Raspberries

It’s another lovely Friday and one of the last weekends of “summer” for us as the kids are starting to go back to school soon.  Our daughter starts second year University on Monday and the boys start school the following week.  We’ve tried to hang on to the last sweet days of summer rest.  Hopefully you’re enjoying the beauty around you right now.

Today I’m bringing you a lovely fruit of summer in the new Power Poppy Berry It that Marcy released earlier this week.  Marcy’s fruit images are amoung my favourite things she’s ever drawn, so I was so excited to play with this one!

I wanted to go a bit of a different route, and see what other colours I could colour them in and I found a lovely picture of a bowl of assorted raspberries that inspired these golden ones I did today.

Just look at those golden-pinkish raspberries!  They are called Golden Raspberries and they’re actually supposed to be a little bit sweeter and more floral than red raspberries.  Did you know that raspberries are actually in the same Rosaceae family that roses are in?  That explains the thorny canes you run into when youre trying to clean them up.

It is a straightforward design, I printed the image onto XPress It Blending cardstock and then used this fancy Spellbinders Die to trim it out.  I added the sentiment from another beautiful Power Poppy Set, Go Wild.  The sentiments were perfect, and one thing I appreciate so much about polymer stamps is that you can curve them, so I was able to curve the top sentiment to match the line of the die perfectly.  A little lace in the design, sewing, and some enamel dots do the accenting.

Here’s the Copics I used to colour, it was fun giving some of the berries a little green like they has yet to ripen.

Don’t forget...there’s just a few more days left to enter our Power & Spark Shabby & Chic Challenge!

Here’s the rest of my Bloom Brigade Sistahs in action today!

Oh, Christine, what a gorgeous card, and I love the layout with this beautiful die (still one of my favorites I often forget). And what stunning berries...I saw so many wonderful shades, and you've really captured the essence of these golden raspberries! Just love the card base color you've used and the delicate DP and stitching! Stunning! Hugs!

Oh my goodness Christine, this card is just gorgeous!!! and I have that die, woohoo!! I didn't know there were golden raspberries, all we see in supermarkets are the red kind.
Your image is colored so beautifully, those golden raspberries look like the real ones, thank you for sharing.

Oh Christine!!! I was totally (and I mean TOTALLY) blown away by the delicate nature of everything around your coloring so that your stamped image is totally center-stage. I LOVED those raspberries, their color is really golden and so alive and really 3D with that color combination. Now I MUST have that stamp set, another one on my list of must-haves from Power Poppy!!! NO ONE creates more beautiful floral/botannical images than Marcella Hawley, and I don't think I've ever seen a more beautiful card of yours with Marcella's stamps, and you have such an amazing stash of unbelievably gorgeous cards created with her stamps. So this is saying A LOT!!! I feel as if I could reach out and touch those raspberries, and your leaves!!! Well, those too are STUNNING, your card has taken my breath away! I love the color of the base too, it just is a perfect fit and that too pulls it all together in a wonderful, amazing manner.

I've badly injured my shoulder, and typing isn't easy, so I haven't been leaving comments much at all, but I just HAD to leave one when you touched me so with your card. I LOVED Marcella's comment, to have touched the artist like this is extraordinary--WELL-DONE, Christine!!!

Blessings to you and your family as you begin another school year.
