Autumn Vegetables

Are you ready for autumn to begin?  We’re absorbing all the summer we still can, but I’ve seen a lot of pictures of families already sending their kids back to school.  We still have until after Labour Day here until school starts....but it’s certainly not far off.  This year I will have one starting University, one starting High School and one finishing in Elementary.

So as I was thinking about the fall, I grabbed the very gorgeous Farmers Market set to play with today for our Power Poppy Friday showcase.  The one part of the set I hadn’t worked with yet was this display of vegetables.  Stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black, and then coloured up with prismacolor pencils to make it look nice and rich.  I made the beets into turnips and made the small tomatoes into plums to unify the colours a little.

Pencils give a design a completely different look don’t you think?  I added some buttons, seambinding, jute twine and piercing to this Deconstructed Sketch from last week.

Here is the inside of the design.  I think I will send it to my husband’s parents to say thank you for hosting us when we visited them last week.  She is a huge gardener so I know she’ll like it.

Now don’t forget that you still have 2 weeks to play along in our Power Poppy Pop Goes the World Color Challenge and winners will get Power Poppy goodies of their choice!

Here’s the Bloom Brigade playing along today....

Oooh, colorful, and I do LOVE color! I also love how you mixed up the produce, making turnips from the beets and plums from the tomatoes. Those big orange buttons are so cute on this. Beautiful!

Oh, Christine, this looks absolutely gorgeous, and your colors have captured the fresh "yumminess" of these fresh veggies! Beautiful card and such inspiration! Thanks and hugs!

very pretty, neat piercing to frame it and love the paper colors and button embellishments that bring out the color in your veggies!

Sweet Christine, I'm not sure that this image could be colored much more realistically and artfully and with such a juicy outcome. I just love your fall colors and the richness of the whole card. Even the shiny snap of the buttons mixed with the rough twine is so well thought out. Once again, you slay me!!

Lovely coloring with pencils, Christine! I love how you changed some of the veggies too, very clever, it gives them a bit of double duty. I'm new to PP, the geraniums drew me in, but I may have to have these veggies too. LOL
