Cranesbill Geraniums for the Hop!

Welcome to the Power Poppy Hop for July!  And a happy Canada Day to all my Canadian friends :)  It’s a joy to celebrate our true North strong and free!  This is my second post for today, scroll down for my The Cat’s Pajamas creativity for the day :)

Today the Bloom Brigade is showing off another look at the three beautiful sets Marcy has released for this month.  Since my other creations were all a decidedly WARM tone...I thought I’d cool it off today with a totally different feel for these gorgeous Geraniums.  I often look up the flowers I’m colouring just to get some inspiration and ideas for different ways to colour them.  I found a beautiful family of Geraniums called “Cranesbill” that have a much cooler tone, cool purples primarily and I thought they looked just gorgeous!  I had to give them a whirl.

I printed my digi on XPress It white cardstock in a gray tone rather than pure black, and then gave the flowers some colour with Copics.  I wanted to give the leaves a real deep green with the varigated striping that can sometimes be found in geraniums.  After colouring I fussy cut them out placing them on some dp and embossed white card stock just to give it some texture.  The white layer is embossed, the amethyst layer is debossed.

Isn’t the detail amazing?  I coloured my seam binding with my Copics to give it the perfect match for the flowers, added some pretty lace, Candi and some Spellbinders die accents keeping to that clean design with bits of interest for your eye to light on.

Here’s the lovely sentiment Marcy gave to this set, and how the inside of the card looks.

All these beautiful digis can be yours now, so be sure to stop by the Power Poppy Store and check them out!  Marcella’s illustration is - as always - superb, and she puts her heart into all her designs.  They are such a beautiful thing to colour.

It’s been delightful to share them with you this week!  I hope you’ve enjoyed it.  Now I hope you can check out what the rest of the Bloom Brigade has to show off to you today!

Ooooh, love these beautiful colors! The blue is so pretty, especially with the bit of green plaid. And, of course those flowers are made so amazing with your expert coloring. Just right! I love this card, Christine!

Oh Christine....I have had Cranesbill Geraniums before and they are lovely...although, they would be hard pressed to match up to what you have created here. Your coloring is positively gorgeous...your amazing detail and beautiful color choices, not to mention awesome layout make this pop off the screen...what a beauty!

Oh, Christine, this is gorgeous! Your coloring is exquisite, and I too love the lavender with the gray tone for a softer look (and also love to use Copics to color my seam binding for a perfect match). Beautiful card! Hugs!

OH my gosh I love the pattern on the leaves. My geraniums look just like that but in red. This is so pretty with all that embossing. Great job.
