A Lump of Coal from Santa

Ok gang, I have the cutest project to show you today for the Noon-Time Challenge.  Here's the theme:  You've heard the popular Christmas song lyrics - "Tiny tots, with their eyes all aglow will find it hard to sleep tonight!" So, get those tykes in the Christmas spirit with a card... just for them! That's right, make this creation all about the children in your lives! FLLCSEPTRW1

And as I've been playing around with my Silhouette Cameo, and wandering around on Pinterest I found the best idea!  A recipe for "coal" from Santa.  Oh my WORD can you imagine a child's face if they found this in their stocking?!  :)  I'll give you the recipe for the treats at the end, they are yummy!

Lots of pictures ahead...

Here's the "lump" of coal and the cute little 3.5 inch round box I made with my Silhouette Cameo machine.  I decorated the box up with some pretty checked ribbon, MME paper and some red Kaiser Sparklets.

On the top you can see the ornament shaped card with my Spellbinder's Dies, and the image from Dear Santa stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black on Flourishes Classic White Cardstock, colored with Copics and accented with black rhinestones.  Isn't that the cutest little image?

Here's the box without the card on top.

And the box open above.  What I love about the box is that they give you inside circular pieces sized just smaller than the lid, to line the box and strengthen in too, so it's pretty and functional.  I also added a little parchement paper square in the bottom of the box to have a nice liner for the "coal" and not mess up the pretty box.

The ornament card above.....and then this is what's inside below!

Hee hee!  :)

Alright here's the recipe for the treats.  I'll be honest.  I had to modify it from the recipe I found on Pinterest, the first batch was WAY too marshmallowy.  So it you want it to look like mine, this is how you'd do it.  It's a super easy and fast recipe.

5 cups large marshmallows (don't use more than that,  I did the first time - it didn't work)
4 TBsp margarine
2 packs of Oreo Cookies (They suggested one but it just isn't enough for the coal look).  I think I used just less than 2 packs.

Grease a 9 x 9 pan.

In a food processor place Oreo cookies and grind down.  (I don't have a large food processor, just a little food chopper and I put in about a row at a time of cookies and it worked perfectly).  You can grind them down fine...or leave them a bit chunky.  I think the chunky works better for the coal.  Take out a 1/2 cup of crushed cookies for topping.   Set aside.

In a large bowl take marshmallows and margarine and place in microwave.  Melt margarine in bowl till marshmallows are puffy.  Pour in your larger amount of cookie mixture (leaving 1/2 cup out) and mix (it will be gooey).  Press into 9 x 9 pan.  Then add 1/2 cup of cookie bits to the top and press down.  Allow to cool.  Cut and eat!  It looks so much like coal, but tastes super sweet.  Like oreo - rice krispee squares :)  My kids devoured them.

Here are the Copics I used from the Flourishes Collections:
