A Little More Masculine

Welcome back to the Noon-Time Challenge at Flourishes  - and a chance for you to jump in and play with us!  You could win today's beautiful Father's Day set!  Today's challenge:  Let's Hear it for the Boys!

HOW TO PLAY: This challenge is all about the men in your life -- no matter what the age! All you need to do is make a more masculine card for this challenge and you will be in the running! If you upload to Splitcoaststampers, please use the keyword FLLCMAYRW2. Entries must be in before Friday, May 11th at 5PM EST. To enter, make sure you link up your creation over on the Flourishes Blog using the Inlinkz Widget!

One thing I love to do with masculine designs is keep things at right angles.  That linear 90 degree angle thing seems to suit a guy.  So no fluffies or curves or ruffles for a guy :)  Another tip for great masculine cards is of course the type of colors and papers.  Here there's some perfect blues and greens that are very guy-like.  And I just LOVE the argyles and plaids in this awesome paper from Authentique - Loyal.  Probably my favourite masculine paper pad right now.

The Spellbinder's Dies are deckled rectangles which add interest, while still keeping that masculine angle thing going.

When I inked the silhouette it took on the texture of the ink pad and I thought that looked a bit denim-like so I didn't go over it with a marker or anything (which I sometimes do with silhouette designs so they're perfect).  On this one, the more rustic style seemed to fit.  I've kept the accents really simple, flags, buttons and twine and sewing.  It all helps with the masculine theme.  Hopefully that gives you some tips!  Isn't that the sweetest picture of a father and little girl?  Oh, and this is a past Deconstructing Jen sketch.

Alright head on over to visit Stacy, Tammy, and Maki  for their Noon-Time Creations!

Hi Christine,

You all made me cry today with this stamps. Having lost my Father more than 20 years ago, you made me remember all the wonderful times my children and I spent with him. He was a one of a kind Father very committed to his family, as strong and gentle figure and he left me a legacy of vertical living so lost in this world today! Thanks for the memories!
