Fairy Land Paper Doll Tin

Hello everyone!  Today I have a  Dollar Find Friday project to show you on the TSG Blog, and I've added a few pictures here to show off the project too.

In a few days our daughter is leaving to spend a week with her cousins in the US, three of the five cousins are sisters aged 3, 5 and 7 years old.  They are just sweet girly girls, and the last time we were together they LOVED fairies.  So, I wanted to make a present for our daughter to take along for them; a little tin full of fairy paper dolls with the sweet set The Fairy Best from There She Goes.

First I stamped and colored up a number of the images from the set in very girly colors (see list of Copics below), I also punched out a number of 1 1/4 inch circles and cut them in half.  These will form the paper doll stands.   I loved paper dolls as a little girl, and so did my daughter, so I know the nieces will love it too.   You can click on any of the pictures if you would like to see them larger.

As you can see I added some pretty touches of glitter to the fairy wings.

Can you see the sparkle on the wings?  I inked the wings with VersaMark Ink and embossed Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder on them.

Here is the set of paper dolls together...

To form the stand, all you do is cut the circles in half, then cut a slit in the rounded top center, as well as the center of the "doll" and slide them together.

Then for the Dollar Store Item, actually it's not from the Dollar store, but it was a tin I had on hand at home, but you could easily find a tin like this at the Dollar store too.  This one is about 6 x 10 x 4 inches.  I like that it has a window on top.

I decorated the outside of the tin with Designer paper, corduroy ribbon and some pretty felt flowers and buttons, and then spelled out Fairy Land in some Sizzix letters.  As you might be able to see I also decorated the inside of the tin too with some designer paper.  I trimmed it to 6 x 12 and then at the 5, 6  and 7 inch marks I scored the paper folding it up to form a little "peak" to create a separation in the tin.

On  the left side of the tin I put the completed paper dolls, and then on the right side I put stamped images so that the girls can color and create their own set of dolls.  This way it's an activity to play with and create with.  I know it will make for an afternoon of fun for the cousins.

Here's another look at the outside of the tin.  The contrast doesn't show it as well, but the turquoise strip above the pink scallops is corduroy ribbon.

And everything inside the tin...

I can't wait to hear what the girls thought of it.  It was really fun to make.  I can just picture them playing fairy land together :)

Thanks for joining me friends!
